Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

I am pretty sure Katy Tur wasn’t always such a bootlicking sycophant.

Spilling the end game before they can coat it in frankl luntz-approved dogwhistles.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

Even though I know this is a bad idea, I’m off to do it anyway!

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Donald Jessica Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

It’s easier to kill a dangerous animal than a man who just happens to have different thoughts/values than one’s own.

Time to call Congress

The AHCA has more lives than a serial killer in a horror movie franchise.

The House Freedom Caucus has an agreement to make the bill worse by allowing states to completely opt out of guarantee issue and essential health benefits.

Steven Dennis of Bloomberg has a good fast analysis of the changes:

Most of the House Freedom Caucus is most likely on board with this bill. That reduces the firm no’s that are not in the HFC down to about 20. The No’s from March need to hear from you again. The unknowns and the shaky yeses need to hear from you.

They also need to be reminded of the following:

In Nov in #GA06, GOP turnout beat Dems by 4.7 pts. In April, Dem turnout beat GOP by 4.4 pts. We’re coming. https://t.co/A8tEagkiMj

— Swing Left (@swingleft) April 25, 2017

There is a minimal blocking coalition of Republican representatives who sit in seats that voted for them and Hillary Clinton. Time to remind them that they can’t survive an electorate that is nine points more Democratic in 2018 than it was in 2016. They know that, but let’s remind them.

So time to call Congress again.

I am convinced that any Republican only health care bill will either pass by 3 votes or fail by at least 15 votes.

Judge blocks part of Trump’s sanctuary cities executive order

Washington (CNN)A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from enforcing a threat to take away funds from sanctuary cities — the latest blow from the federal judiciary to President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda.

In a ruling delivered Thursday, Judge William H. Orrick sided with Santa Clara, the city of San San Francisco and other cities, who argued that a threat to take away federal funds from cities that do not cooperate with some federal immigration enforcement could be unconstitutional.

Velveeta Voldemort was reportedly so angry he transformed Bannon into a ferret, performed a Cruciatus Curse on Conway and made Spicer chug the Drink of Despair so he could check the status of a locket Horcrux.

And yes, I’ll be posting this during better hours for any European readers, but some folks here might be heading out so I wanted to mention it for all timezones.

Isn’t this interesting:

White House Director of Legislative Affairs Marc Short outlined in a letter to the House oversight committee how it would not complete the request from the panel, referring some requests to the Department of Defense, saying the office doesn’t have custody of some of the other documents or simply stating “we are unable to accommodate” others.

A White House aide disputed that the White House was withholding anything from the committee, saying they could not provide documents they do not have access to. The aide said that they directed oversight investigators to the appropriate agencies.

About 110 days ago, when our President was a Kenyan Muslim Usurper, this would not be called “denying a request,” it would be called a “cover-up.” I suppose there is also the possibility that these fucking incompetent boobs who were completely unready to govern simply have no idea where the documents are or if they even exist, but that’s no fucking excuse and actually a reason to dig deeper on other WH staff and their side gigs with the Russians and Turks and who knows who else.

Here’s hoping that Flynn testifies against others to avoid jail time:

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn likely broke the law by failing to disclose foreign income he earned from Russia and Turkey, the heads of the House Oversight Committee said Tuesday.

Trump’s greatest accomplishment in his first 100 days has been getting Bloomberg View and The Intercept to carry his water on the Russia investigation. The latest developments should prompt a flurry of anti-deep state articles from Glenn Greenwald and Eli Lake.
