either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good "shutdown" in September to fix mess!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 2, 2017
… It’s all fun and games, until someone has to have the nuclear codes pried out of his stubby little fingers…
I thought the plan was for Trump to blame the Democrats, with whom he has barely engaged, if there was a government shutdown. Confusing! https://t.co/9drf5lYiyz

@wccubbison Maybe he thinks a shutdown breaks the Senate Union and allows him to hire all new Senators.

@delrayser He knows he still has to work if there’s a shutdown, right?

I read somewhere that when Nixon was really starting to fall apart toward the end of his time, responsible folks around him contrived to get the nuclear codes away from him.
Sure hope somebody’s doing that now.
On that optimistic note, I must go sleepy byes. Nighty Night!

What? It wasn’t the most bigly successful first hundred days ever?
greennotGreen
I had a bit of a meltdown last night – too tired, too weak, dilaudid pump wasn’t working, but I was better after I got some dilaudid on board. Yesterday I was better though hitting the pump a lot more often because of heartburn. Just now I had a rather more significant meltdown when the dilaudid could no longer do its job and we started the morphine…which is making it really difficult to type. (My sister is now typing for me.) I was teary and didn’t want to take Ativan because I want to face eternity with my eyes open. Dilaudid wasn’t controlling the pain so I took some more morphine and counteracted the flavor by sucking on a Good ‘n Plenty. (Note from sister – she’s getting sleepy now, so this will be continued tomorrow.)

Is maggie, the tool, justifying the twitler’s empty threat?

@greennotGreen: Oh, sweetheart – you are so very much in my thoughts and heart…appreciate you reaching out here. Meds being what they are – I’d prefer to be on Ativan nearly every day for the anti-anxiety help it offers. Lighting candles of support for you right now – some sandalwood incense too…the good Japanese stuff…

@greennotGreenHave two glassy baby tea light holders (fearless and compassion) and only one tea light candle, so I opted for fearless…

@greennotGreen: I wonder if you could halve the amount of Ativan, and it could just slightly take the edge off? Understand your wanting to stay woke, as it were.
Best to you, dear gnGreen. And best to your sister.

@Steeplejack (phone): Hey Steep – wonderful choice….I played that at the memorial celebration (complete with session blues musicians) in our garden after my husband passed away – he was an ocean-going fisherman and film tech (props) and that was a really rocking memorial – most folks in shorts and T’s, neighborhood kids, dogs, craft service catering…it was absolutely perfect.

@seaboogie: That sounds like a good sendoff. My condolences on losing your husband. Sounds like he had an interesting life.

@greennotGreen: Ask about fentanyl patches. My housemate lives with constant pain. She was on methadone for a long time. They switched her to fentanyl; in patch form there’s not much risk of overdose. She only uses morphine for breakthrough pain.

@Elizabelle: Hilarious! When my little brother was a small child, we had a cat that would hide, then leap out to attack my brother as he walked by, like a couple of cats in that video did. So funny.

Thunderstorms again? We expect rain today in Barcelona. Seems like an art museum day.
Listening to Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, next up on the youtube link Steeplejack put up. Perfect for a grey morning.

@greennotGreen: I’ve been thinking about you today, hoping you are comfortable but I see that you are not. Hugs to you and your sister and I hope you can get some sleep and that the issues with meds are worked out soonest.

You can’t insult the Joker by comparing him to Donald Trump.
1. The Joker makes more sense then Trump.
2. The Joker is more patriotic then Trump. At least the Joker hates Nazis!

@Elizabelle: No thunder today, but I’m up before the chickens anyway. An art museum in Barcelona sounds like a fabulous way to spend a rainy day!

Nice maritime museum in Barcelona.
Plus the Museum of Cartooning and Comic Illustration and also the Museum of Erotica.

Insomnia and strange ASMR videos seems to be the key to my productivity. I added depth and balance to the combat in my interactive fiction and squashed a couple narrative loops that had been stuck in a very long segment set after a mine cave-in.

@greennotGreen: hoping you’re getting better rest and pain relief. Get what you can to stay as comfortable as you can. We’re thinking of you every day with love.
And thank you to your sister for helping you keep in touch with us.

As my 90-year-old father and his identical twin slip further away into dementia (my uncle is much further along), my mom is handling it well, but she noted that she’s seeing the same symptoms — rambling, disconnected trains of thought, unprovoked outbursts, recollections from the past — in Trump that were the first signs of my dad’s onset. I don’t like diagnosing from a distance, but you see what you see.

@greennotGreen: You’re in all our thoughts (and your sis is, too).
Last couple nights have been a bit of a trial chez MB – my old dog Stella has been restless, my young dog Luna has been needy. Guess they really didn’t like being boarded at the vets this past weekend – and when I got the boarding bill, I decided that I didn’t like it much, either. But Stella has had so much trouble getting around, despite the improvements wrought by Glycoflex, that I wanted to be sure she had access to vet care if she needed it, and I didn’t want to leave her there alone, so…(shrug)…as Adam is fond of noting, “it is what it is.”

@Miss Bianca: Maybe you could find a college student willing to house-and-pet-sit. We found it was usually cheaper than boarding 2 large dogs, and had the added benefit that the dogs were much calmer when we got home and didn’t have as many separation issues.
