Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Infrastructure week. at last.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Come on, man.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Republicans in disarray!

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

“Squeaker” McCarthy

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

These guys can’t help themselves:

Last year, then-president Barack Obama vetoed a bill that would have curbed the pensions of former presidents if they took outside income of $400,000 or more.

So now that former president Barack Obama has decided to accept $400,000 for an upcoming Wall Street speech, the sponsors of that bill say they’ll reintroduce that bill in hopes that President Trump will sign it.

“The Obama hypocrisy on this issue is revealing,” said Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and sponsor of the 2016 bill. “His veto was very self-serving.”

Chaffetz and Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, the sponsor of the companion Senate bill, say they will re-introduce the Presidential Allowance Modernization Act this month. The bill would cap presidential pensions at $200,000, with another $200,000 for expenses. But those payments would be reduced dollar-for-dollar once their outside income exceeds $400,000.

It’s just a fucking coincidence this happened when we got a black President. It just fucking kills these guys he was President.

And the balls on Chaffetz, who just rushed to have government paid for surgery on a decades old injury before he leaves congress and tomorrow votes to remove pre-existing conditions protections for the rest of Americans.

    Obama’s veto (from July 2016):

    […]

At issue: the expense allowances that former presidents get to travel and maintain an office. Obama said that by capping those allowances at $200,000, some current former presidents would have to lay off staff, cancel leases or even return office furniture.

Under current law, the General Services Administration must provide “suitable office space, appropriately furnished and equipped.” The total cost of maintaining and staffing those offices currently ranges from $430,000 for former president Jimmy Carter to $1.1 million for former president George W. Bush, according to a report by the Congressional Research Service.

The Presidential Allowance Modernization Act of 2016 would have removed the GSA’s role in providing office space, instead giving a flat $200,000 allowance.

“Unfortunately, this bill as written would immediately terminate salaries and all benefits to staffers carrying out the official duties of former Presidents — leaving no time or mechanism for them to transition to another payroll,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement. And he said the cuts could even impact Secret Service protection for former presidents.

Earnest said Obama agrees on the need to reform presidential pensions and would sign a bill if Congress makes “technical fixes to resolve these issues.”

Obama’s veto was something of a surprise. The White House had not issued a veto threat on the bill, and he waited a full 10 days before sending it back late on a Friday when Congress wasn’t in session.

House leaders couldn’t immediately be reached for comment on whether they would seek to override the veto. The bill had passed both the House and the Senate by voice votes.

The veto was Obama’s 11th of his presidency. None of his vetoes has been overridden.

House bill could give former presidents a pay cut

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, would also have capped presidential pensions at $200,000 a year, with a cost-of-living increase, and phased out pensions for presidents making $400,000 a year in outside income.

The White House said it consulted with every living former president about the bill before Obama vetoed it.

    FWIW.

    Cheers,
    Scott.

Not just the racism. A worthless POS like O’Reilly gets 25 mil after exposing his employer to over 10 mil in liability for sexual harassment, and the former leader of the free world gets a fucking measly $200k pension after 4-8 years of getting paid like an assistant coach for a mid-major football team while being responsible for a massive bureaucracy, getting 50 death threats a day and having feces hurled at you by howler monkeys like Chaffetz. There are mid-level state bureaucrats that get better deals than that. Obviously, you don’t want to be president just for the money, but this just further guarantees that the only people interested in the job will be (1) nutcases and (2) grifters like Trump who will use the office to further their personal business interests (not mutually exclusive).

I called my congressman earlier today, Lee Zeldin (R), to find out his position on the AHCA. I talked to a polite office staff person who gave me absolutely no information whatsoever and told me somebody would get back to me. Nobody got back to me today, and I very much doubt anybody will before tomorrow’s vote. I just called his office again and left a message stating that I would be giving money to his opponent if he votes yes. I also called his DC office, but I couldn’t even leave a message there because the voicemail box is full.

What more can/should I be doing?

Um, point of fact, folks. From the USA Today article, something that seems to have been missed so far in the discussion: “Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., the top Democrat on Chaffetz’s committee, was a co-sponsor of the original bill. “Cummings definitely supports the concept, and if we can work out the technical issues with the bill that arose late in the last Congress, we expect he would strongly support it again,” said spokeswoman Jennifer Hoffman Werner.” So the racism/GOP vindictiveness arguments seem a little hollow.

It still better to be right than win huh?

Obama doesn’t need that $400k and should not have taken it. Period.

Republicans are all about tax cuts. Democrats have almost no narrative. Hill’s and Obama’s accepting bribes er I mean speaking fees destroys what little story we have.

And yes the republicans are evil racist and stupid. But pointing out that truth doesn’t seem to win elections, and during the period Obama and Hillary have been the leaders of the democratic party we have lost control of every branch of government from dog catcher to the supreme court. Its not a circular firing squad, its an evaluation of failure and a cry for new leadership.
