On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.
From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.
Good Morning All,
This weekday feature is for Balloon Juicers who are on the road, travelling, etc. and wish to share notes, links, pictures, stories, etc. from their escapades. As the US mainland begins the end of the Earth day as we measure it, many of us rise to read about our friends and their transient locales.
So, please, speak up and share some of your adventures, observations, and sights as you explore, no matter where you are. By concentrating travel updates here, it’s easier for all to keep up-to-date on the adventures of our fellow Commentariat. And it makes finding some travel tips or ideas from 6 months ago so much easier to find…
Have at ’em, and have a safe day of travels!
Should you have any pictures (tasteful, relevant, etc….) you can email them to [email protected] or just use this nifty link to start an email: Start an Email to send a Picture to Post on Balloon Juice
So I spent a good number of hours watching the Eurovision 2017 finals Saturday, and it was just glorious – campy, informative, fun, compelling, a great human experience full of politics and goodwill. As someone who is 1/2 Swiss and cares about many things European, the show of togetherness was dreamy. Really, truly a good thing. I enjoyed it so much that I promise you – next year, live blog of the finale, count on it!
So I’m not publishing any photos today, just this song by the winner. Try not to cry. I first heard it Saturday morning on the BBS as the “atypical Eurovision entrant” and it was unforgettable. I cannot believe this simple, beautiful thing won.
This is the post-victory performance -he didn’t believe he could or did win and was a bit confused prior to this performance but it is so genuine, heartfelt, so human. From what I understand, it’s his sister/co-writer/composer that he’s so proud of. And he’s got a terminal heart condition and is on the transplant list. Can you imagine?
Saudade anyone?
Do yourself a favor and watch/listen to this and have a more beautiful day. Pictures return tomorrow!

No pictures?
Oh well.
What a story with the video?
Anne Laurie
That would be fun!
I tried writing about Eurovision once or twice, but I don’t know enough about the whole field to do so properly. (I think Ms. Sarah Proud & Tall may also have front-paged the competition, but she’s got so much going on… )

I don’t think you got the right video. (I don’t speak Portuguese, could be the right song?) Is this what you were looking for?
Alain the site fixer
@OzarkHillbilly: ok. It was late and I was bleary eyed and yes I think that is a better link. I just woke up so let me get conscious. Right not I could cut myself with a spoon I’m so foggy. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

@Alain the site fixer: Heh, sounds like you had a better one than I did. ?

Gonna leave this hear because it’s a road trip I’ll have to take: The Village of the Blue Rose.
Hwy 79 is a beautiful drive (the River Road) and I’ve been itching to head up to Hannibal, this would be a great stop for lunch.

@OzarkHillbilly: and pictures! Great story!

Alain, for some reason, your link to the video sends me an error. Ozark’s link in #5 was correct (wonderful performance, BTW).
