Game 2 went the Penguins way. I had no problem with the referees. They let a lot go but they were consistent with what they were letting go. When Murray got run by a Predator there was no call, and when Crosby ran the Predator goalie, there was no call. Players just want consistency. They’ll figure out what the refs are allowing and now allowing and adjust accordingly.
Now if the Pens can grab a single win in Nashville, the series should tilt their way.

I live down here in Nash. It’s an exciting time for Predators fans. Hell, its exciting even if you don’t care all that much about sports: it’s the first time they’ve made the playoffs. Today downtown streets were closed for a free Alan Jackson concert in advance of the game. Yellow and blue everywhere.
I’m not going NEAR the shitshow myself, although I expect I’ll make some decent tips at tonight’s gig.

@geg6:TL/DR: He’s the Tom Brady of the NHL. I know someone who worked as a physio for one of the teams he visited before he got drafted. Said he was an absolute prick. He’s probably grown up since then; but now all I see him do is cry to the refs. While he gets away with a lot. And his nut shot on one of my team’s guys didn’t help.

Crying to the refs? Seriously? You must be mistaking Sid for someone else. I never miss a Pens game and have never once seen him cry. As for being an asshole, we don’t see that either. We see a huge star who does a ton in the community, gives his stick to little girls and boys who ask post-game on a regular basis, is never in trouble and personally delivers season tickets to purchasers every pre-season. A guy who is constantly ganged up on and rarely retaliates and who is forever being injured by cheap shots. A guy who lived with Mario and his family for many years after coming to the team. I think, personally, it’s jealousy. If you were talking about Malkin, I could understand it because Malkin is pretty much an asshole. A great player and I love him but I admit that he’s hard to like. But Sid is totally a class guy. In every way.

@geg6: You’re right about Geno. And I agree with you about Sid and his interactions with the public. And yes, a little jealousy. And maybe it’s the quality of the officiating, or the fact that he has had a couple concussions; but he seems to spend an awful lot of time in the ref’s ear. And yes, I know he’s the captain.
