That really does look delicious. Orderly, serene, beautiful …. damn, Cole. Look at your life!

Wow, it really shows all the hard work ABC put into it. :)
Seriously though, it looks very nice. It turned out fantastically well.

Needs more light. Of course, dark rooms seem to be a Cole trademark. Wait until you get older than you currently are…you’re going to need more light to be able to read anything.
I think as long as Thurston is there “serene” will not be an actual descriptor of the Cole household. It sounds like Steve is trying to help keep things from being too serene daily at 5a.

Very nice, John. You and your lady friend have done it up right.
I had an old house (1914 or so) in Dallas and I worked on it for thirty years. I loved the place. I regret that I have so few photos of it. It was elegant, if I say so. Downstairs the study was finished in mahogany, the living room in walnut and the dining room in sweetgum. Oak floors. Oh well. I loved that place but wound up here in SW Oregon. I miss it but I’m glad as hell not to be living in North Texas any longer. Too bad you can’t teleport a house.

John, you have every right to be proud. Everything looks great.
BTW, is that Steve’s litterbox under the sideboard?

John, it’s peaceful and beautiful. Just like your life.

It is indeed cozy. It looks peaceful and inviting. What a wonderful job you’ve done in renovating it. Also, I love the wrap-around porch. Wish I had one!
@Felonius Monk: Yes and no. Steve does not use a litterbox, he goes outside and always has. However, when we moved here, I bought one in case he didn’t continue to go outside. He did, so I never used it, and it is there because I used it to store cleaning supplies in. I just need to carry it down to the basement and have not gotten around to it.

The house is lovely. You’ve done a wonderful job. I’m envious – I soooooo wish I had a dining room.
Who is the spectral presence standing next to you?

That dining room has a good feel, like a respite from other things.
The pictures of Steve look like he’s happier having more space to position himself in, more rooms to stretch out in, more corners and windows.
I really admire how you’ve made a home. Mine has turned into less the last few years. Overwhelming with things that need work.
@NotMax: move the litter box up and put the likker bottles in it.

That’s a house that’s truly a home, and I’m so happy all your hard work has had such wonderful results. Enjoy.

It’s so beautiful, and the colors just make it glow. I enjoyed the photo you posted of the front of the house, too. You should be proud of yourself for saving and reviving that house.
Sometime when you have a minute, maybe you could post before and after pics. I’m impressed by the major changes you made!

I’m happy for you, John. It’s nice to see the good guys don’t finish last after all.
How do you keep everything so neat? Can you come over every other day and work on our house?

I love the lighting. Perfect. My lady would say the room is dark, but as guy, I like the dark wood.
Cat box under the cupboard too. Ours is in the bathroom, but when our kits were little we had one next to the bed ‘ugh’.
Big congrats on a lovely home. Be happy an healthy and enjoy those digs. I would.

I had the joy of a 3AM trip to the bathroom last night and on the return stepped on a little brown present that my cat, Buddy, had left on the route. Had to rinse my foot in the shower.
As cats get older they get less able to defend themselves so we are in the process of turning a 16 y.o, previously-always-outdoor cat into at least a night time indoor cat. Declining health and speed, frequent raccoon visits and unfriendly neighborhood cats kind of forced him inside much to his chagrin. Since he has a litter box I’m not sure why he decided to gift us last night but better than cat piss.
Just a reminder, John, that your cat may require that litter box sometime in the future.

I feel like Ron Swanson should be in this picture. But he wouldn’t be in this picture because it was posted on the internet.

From someone with remodeling experience, I appreciate all of the effort and value you have invested – to good result.
But, come on… it looks like that vase of lovely flowers is trying to run away from the center of the table and dragging the vase mat with it.
I dunno, maybe it’s something about “asshole-rententive” that people keep mentioning around me.

Nice place. Pity that the country is about to go up in flames soon after you got it. But enjoy it while you can!
