If we weren’t talking about such disgusting human beings, this would be pretty damned funny:
As soon as Spencer was announced as a participant in the Rally for Free Speech, Jack Posobiec and Laura Loomer, two advocate-journalists who were also scheduled to speak, backed out. “It’s pretty simple,” Loomer, who is Jewish, told me at the time. “I’m not sharing the stage with an anti-Semite.” The next day, Posobiec announced that he would host a competing event, the Rally Against Political Violence, in front of the White House. This rally would feature a new slate of speakers, including Wintrich; Cassandra Fairbanks, of the pro-Trump Web site Big League Politics; the political consultant and Periscope pundit Ali Akbar; and the social-media star and InfoWars contributor Mike Cernovich. The events would be held at the same time, to draw a clear distinction between people who would stand with Spencer and those who would not. In effect, the Rally for Free Speech became an alt-right event, and the Rally Against Political Violence became a right-wing event organized in opposition to the alt-right. The two factions spent the intervening week talking trash, on Twitter and YouTube, about which rally would draw a bigger crowd. To the outside world, the schism might have seemed sudden, even inexplicable. In fact, it had been developing for months.
It’s like the Klan/Nazi/Breitbart version of the People’s Front of Judea scene. Fucking splitters.
TenguPhule
So root for mass casualties then.
SenyorDave
So Jack Posobiec and Laura Loomer are fine with all types of bigotry except anti-semitism? Maybe the gigantic Monty Python foot can appear and squash all the participants. Assuming its aim was perfect the world would be a better place.
Ian G.
Dammit Cole, you’re supposed to let the peanut gallery make the “People’s Front of Judea” comment.
Also, Loomer is Jewish but doesn’t mind dog whistle antisemitism, only the air raid siren type. Fuck her. If someone as loathsome as Ben Shapiro can reject Trump (not to mention more respectable Jewish conservatives like David Frum and Jennifer Rubin), she’s getting no fucking sympathy from me.

And despite their protestations to the contrary, both camps are fascists.
God, are you there? It’s Goku. Please make our enemies stupid

@SenyorDave: I’m going with that.
This country has become a festival of freaks, sickos and failures.

@Ian G.: Loomer sounds like she would have made a fine kapo back in the day.

“Well, I think we should attack these people, first with bombs, and rockets destroying their homes, and then when they run helpless into the streets, er, mowing them down with machine guns. Er, and then of course releasing the vultures. I know these views aren’t popular, but I have never courted popularity.”

@? ?? Goku (aka The Hope of the Universe) ? ?:
Too late. Should have asked for them to be completely incompetent.

Um, “Both rallies attracted only a few dozen supporters, with nearly as many counterprotesters at one of the events on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.”
It seems like lots and lots of people don’t care. Yay! Let them split even more. Pretty soon they’ll be all The End Is Nigh!, amirite? ;-)
Cheers,
Scott.

Speaking of awful people!
I was watching an internet video last night and I see my ex roommate posting a comment on it. About how hard it is to be trans with “all the stupid SJW victim complex” people around. The same person who bragged for months about how easy it was to hide in the guard shack and play video games instead of doing her job, then when she gets fired tells everyone it’s because she is trans. Same roommate who was wiping body fluids on the wall and of the desk that fell apart to a cloud of asthma inducing death dust.

@Ian G.:
Frum is still an asshole neocon, and just because J-Rubes has been yelling (so to speak) at President Lying Littledick, it doesn’t mean she’s “respectable.
Major Major Major Major
That is the perfect description of this.
@SFAW: I think Ian probably meant ‘respectable for an asshole neocon‘.

@EBT: I hate to say this, but it sounds like your roommate is using their trans status as an excuse for the reason why they were fired. Also, SJW? Way to internalize that bigotry. SJW no longer means anything anymore.
Does she think ingratiating herself among the Randian Gestapo would save her if they ever got into a position of power? They’d chuck her overboard so fast after she outlibed her usefulness as a shield

I saw the post title in the forward arrow on the right side of the previous page and thought it referred to us jackals. I assumed Cole was the poster of course. I’m relieved to find we’re off the hook so far.

Fun fact: Megaasshole Roger Stone, the one with the asshole tattooed between his shoulder blades, was supposed to show up at Posobiec’s “alt-alt-rally”, but could not attend due to concerns about his life, which apparently had been threatened by Ronald McDonald or the Burger King, best I can tell.

I suppose there are minute ideological differences to go along with the factional splitting– or maybe it’s just that they sit in different corners of the cafeteria, breathing different air molecules. Mind you, I’m not asking for an explanation.

I’ll meet you at “medium meteor,” in that case!

@Marmot: OK, but I’m only going to root for it, not vote for it.

@Major Major Major Major: I guess. But my suspicion is that what they really have in common is a temperament and a tendency. The exact direction of focus will change.

No Drought No More
The intolerance and infighting of those two groups sound much like the bad actors of California’s state republican party at work (and just look at the shape it’s in today). Insofar as that party’s reactionary political purists are concerned, it’s better to rule in electoral hell than bend one iota to politically pragmatic compromise, under any circumstance whatsoever, even at the cost of losing election after election.. Speaking as a native son who has gleefully watched the GOP’s course unfold, that’s more than OK with me. Better yet, I suspect what we’re witnessing are the initial stages of an implosion that will finish today’s republican party as a national power- and that implosion will happen for reasons very similar to those that has served to cripple the GOP in the Golden State.
Another Scott
@Miss Bianca: DW has a longer clip.
It looks to me like she’s talking about the DPRK missile and Vlad is saying, “No, No, it just goes up like this” and she rolls her eyes.
He’s trying to say that it’s no big deal (as he wants Donnie to continue to blow his stack about it, making Vlad and Xi look like peaceful, sober statesmen), and she’s having none of it.
My $0.02.
Cheers,
Scott.
(“But the shorter clip was great!”)
LesGS
@EBT: When I attended my first big conference with other transmen back in the late 1990s, I was struck by the fact that the *only* thing we really had in common was being trans. We came from all walks of life, all ethnic groups, all races, religions, sexual orientation, places on the political spectrum, etc. It was great to be able to just say a few words about my body dysphoria, and instantly have guys nodding along with me, rather than being met by blank or uncomfortable stares. But mention that I was a man married to another man (30 years last month), or that I had given birth twice, and some of those guys just couldn’t contain their homophobia or misogyny.
tl:dr Jerks flourish across the entire human spectrum.
EBT
@Major Major Major Major: She is both a self professed libertarian, AND about the most goddamn lazy person on the planet. @cain: Thank you! It’s definitely been a more interesting journey than either my husband or I expected. :)

OK, so I read the New Yorker article. I’m not impressed really. I mean, the author of the piece tried dearly to paint many on the conservative right as thoughtful, good intentioned people vs the ‘white nationalist’ movement people. That they are vastly different. Except that idea isn’t borne out by the evidence of their actions. They all voted for crazy right wingers who now run the government as close to a fascist regime as we’ve ever gotten. And none of them are complaining about that. They’re complaining about who gets the credit & who gets the media spoils. Idiots. John’s right. They make a spectacle about the demise of what we knew as our government while the money goes out the back door to the ‘well connected’.
What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?
I got my nom de plume from that movie. The Dems are the Romans…gave them roads, law and order, and a dozen other wonderful things and still the hated enemy.
Ken
@kindness: I’d argue that Bush/Cheney was our fascist phase. Trump will do damage but just bumble through 4 years. We should remain absolutely vigilant, but Trump really doesn’t have what it takes to be a successful fascist. Bush/Cheney, OTOH, had 12 years of bureaucrats from Reagan/Bush to fill (and who gladly) filled all those government positions and quickly do damage. No one wants to work for Trump.
