Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

Those who are easily outraged are easily manipulated.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

A fool as well as an oath-breaker.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

Republicans firmly believe having an abortion is a very personal, very private decision between a woman and J.D. Vance.

Oppose, oppose, oppose. do not congratulate. this is not business as usual.

Oh FFS you might as well trust a 6-year-old with a flamethrower.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

The words do not have to be perfect.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

I am pretty sure these ‘journalists’ were not always such a bootlicking sycophants.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

On the Road is a weekday feature spotlighting reader photo submissions.

From the exotic to the familiar, whether you’re traveling or in your own backyard, we would love to see the world through your eyes.

Submit Your Photos

Good Morning All,

This weekday feature is for Juicers who are on the road, travelling, etc. and wish to share notes, links, pictures, stories, etc. from their escapades. As the US mainland begins the end of the Earth day as we measure it, many of us rise to read about our friends and their transient locales.

So, please, speak up and share some of your adventures, observations, and sights as you explore, no matter where you are. By concentrating travel updates here, it’s easier for all to keep up-to-date on the adventures of our fellow Commentariat. And it makes finding some travel tips or ideas from 6 months ago so much easier to find…

Have at ’em, and have a safe day of travels!

Should you have any pictures (tasteful, relevant, etc….) you can email them to [email protected] or just use this nifty link to start an email: Start an Email to send a Picture to Post on Balloon Juice

Have a great weekend everyone, there will be some changes to this feature next week!

Sorry for no pics, staying at moms and weird internet issues abound.  Netflix and iPad work ok, so it’s not all bad. Lots more pictures and now form coming early next week.

Open thread, early morning crew.

Well, to keep things going, here’s a pic from the Anime Convention in downtown LA.

@Sab: It’s a snarky way of saying you are free to leave. There are plenty of silly ass arguments here.

It makes me sad that I don’t recognize any of the characters in the anime picture, although I guess most of the anime I watch has characters in plainclothes.

Nice picture. I don’t recognize anyone, but they have all put a lot of effort into being dressed for their occasion.

    Good looking bunch of nerds…

ETA: If last night’s thread was too odd / argumentative or even too Pelosie / Clinton fictitious for some one, they are not cut out for this space. If I see Bufulos or however that is spelled, I will pie him… I like pie a lot. If it was a little cooler pecan pie would be on the agenda.

I ordered some just released books last week. Yesterday I watched them come from Missouri via Lexington Ky, to South Charleston WV where the nearest UPS distribution center is. On to Roanoke VA WAIT A MINUTE YOU GUYS!!!

Then back to Huntington WV, which is where things go when they aren’t going to be delivered to us soon – ’cause they have been lost…

The county seat gets deliveries from Huntington, and mail comes via the P O in the county seat, but UPS only comes as far as the county seat and goes back to Huntington. We live way east of the county seat, very close to S Charleston and Charleston.

Maybe it will get to the local P O by tomorrow? That will be good.
