Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

Republicans in disarray!

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

A fool as well as an oath-breaker.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

The BCRA is getting pulled but the healthcare fight is not over. Senate Majority Leader McConnell wants the Senate to vote on a Find and Replace version of the reconciliation bill that President Obama vetoed in 2016. That bill would repeal every funded element of the ACA on 12/31/19 and cut taxes effective immediately.

— Leader McConnell (@SenateMajLdr) July 18, 2017

As a reminder this is the bill that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) scored as leading to 32 million more people without insurance by the end of 2026 with 18 million not having insurance in the first year. Premiums on the individual market would increase by 50% over baseline by 2026.

The new Senate strategy of #RepealAndDelay will be scored w/ 10 million more in coverage losses than other bills – https://t.co/090lbBeRMQ pic.twitter.com/M13EtWL9k3

Unless McConnell thinks that he can get his vulnerable in 2018 and 2020 members to fall in line with the barely veiled threat of a massive right wing primary challenge, I am having a hard time seeing the logic of bringing up this bill unless it is to show the House a body and move onto something else.

So you know what to do — call your Senator this morning.

So Republicans are doing exactly what they’ve wanted to do all along which is repeal the ACA with no replacement. Good to see that they’re not even pretending anymore that they care about healthcare for the majority of their fellow Americans. This is who they are.

I don’t think they can get the votes for even this to pass. The politics of stripping away health insurance without the facade of even trying to make it better (even though both AHCA and BCRA were turd sandwiches) is even worse, IMO.

    @Patricia Kayden:
McConnell’s actions just keep reinforcing what a horrible person he is. His motivations appear to be wholly negative, driven by a desire to erase the presidency of Barack Obama. If there were even a few decent human beings in the senate GOP, there would be an effort to replace McConnell. Instead, the senate continues to focus on mindlessly hurting millions of Americans including many who voted Republican.

My worry is a majority of GOP voters support them in their quest to fuck over America and destroy President Obama’s legacy, so enough GOP Congresscritters won’t pay a price for it.

@TriassicSands: I virtually guarantee that nobody else on Team R wants the job of Senate Majority Leader. Too much of a headache. _Maybe_ Ted Cruz would do it, out of ambition and a strong sense of personal superiority, but everyone hates him so he won’t be asked.

McConnell has a kind of negative charisma that lets him escape responsibility. Ugly! Turtle!

Slightly off topic–but then again, meta-wise, not at all. Every time I see the acronym for this horrible “plan”, BCRA, I read it as BRCA–you know the gene marker for breast cancer. Which would be a bankrupting condition under the proposed hideously cruelty of Trump”care”.

Okie-Dokei! Off to my stereotactic breast biopsy (thankfully no genetic issues). Pretty doped up, a good thing I’m told. Cross your paws, jackals.

Yep, we’ve won another battle (BCRAP flushed!), but the war continues. I assume they won’t give up on Obamacare repeal as long as they hold the House, Senate, and White House. So we’ll have to change that next year, and stay alert and ready to fight in the meantime.

The repeal has a two year delay. The idea is to play chicken with healthcare. To force Democrats to make massive concessions before the clock runs out. This is how McConnell operates. He figures it worked with the government shutdown threats, so it will work here. He disgusts me.

@Sister Machine Gun of Quiet Harmony: Yes, he is Not A Nice Person.

A week or so ago, I referred to him as “Bitch McConnell”. This was wrong of me, and it has been eating at my conscious ever since. I therefore would like to apologize to all female dogs out there whom I have insulted. There really is on excuse for my behavior, and it will not be repeated (until the next time).
