Trump Screams “Death”

Remember Trump’s bizarre “Democrats scream death” tweet 500 years ago? Actually, it was only five days ago. Well, now HE’S the one screaming “death,” in a speech this afternoon. Via NBCNews:

Trump: ‘Obamacare is Death’

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump declared the Affordable Care Act a “meaningless promise” Monday, using his presidential bully pulpit to amplify his calls for action on stalled Republican attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare — which he called “death” at one point.

“Obamacare has wreaked havoc on the lives of innocent, hard-working Americans,” Trump said at the White House, joined by families whom he said had suffered under the ACA.

The president hammered Democrats for their lack of bipartisanship and decried their criticism of Republican efforts to reform health care.

“They say death, death, death. Well, Obamacare is death,” Trump said. “That’s the one that’s death.”

Trump’s remarks come amid failed GOP pushes so far to repeal and replace Obamacare, with the White House urging Republicans to act this week.

Of course, he doesn’t have a fucking clue what Obamacare is or what provisions are in his own party’s bill. All he sees is a big, fat goose egg on the scoreboard under his name, and if Republicans don’t get in line, he’ll turn his fire on them. Yesterday, Trump threatened Republicans as follows:

If Republicans don't Repeal and Replace the disastrous ObamaCare, the repercussions will be far greater than any of them understand!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 24, 2017

I think he’s right about that — the infighting will consume this rancid pustule of an administration and rip that putrid turd of a party apart if this bill goes down. So yeah, keep calling!

Gotta flood Senate with calls. Tell ‘moderate’ GOPers they are will be in very big trouble if they vote on bill that they don’t even know what it is in it, don’t know what will be up for a vote until the very last minute. Tell them how irresponsible and outrageous and dangerous it is.

Tell them they are to publicly announce that they want no part of a corrupt irresponsible and dangerous swindle put on by McConnell and Senate leadership. Tell them they are to represent you, not Trump, not McConnell, not big super rich mega-donors and GOP party funders.

Edit: They need to publicly state that they are ‘NO’ on EVERYTHING until there is responsible procedure for a bipartisan bill.

Just do it to bother them and joy of letting them know that there will be hell to pay if they cave. Capito already sending out signals she is ready to cave. Haven’t heard anything about Heller yet.

I love this paragraph from NYTimes reporter Peter Baker’s description of interviewing Trump: “His precision can be suspect — among other things, he mixed up details of a letter written by James B. Comey, the former F.B.I. director; misconstrued the point of a story in The New York Times that annoyed him; and claimed that some people get health insurance for $12 a year. But the conversation moves so quickly from one newsworthy topic to another that it is hard to challenge each assertion.”

Has anyone seen anything on how the 3 female Senators who said they were going to vote no have been holding out? I really fear they will pass some horrible healthcare bill tomorrow that will harm and kill thousands. On a personal note my wife fell down the stairs yesterday. Luckily she did not break any bones. She is awful bruised up though. As I sat in the emergency room while they x-rayed and ct-scanned her, I was thinking about how we could pay for this if we did not have health insurance right now. And now she has a major pre-existing condition. I fear for the future for all of us. (Sorry to be such a downer…it has been a rough 24 hours).

He appears to have made his choice that he likes the odds of “Yes —> Plutocrats, save me!” better than “No –> Plutocrats, leave me alooone!”

There is no low too low for Republicans.

Sometimes I just can’t be cynical enough.

    I mean FFS.

The ad uses several clips of Brooks talking to reporters in the aftermath of the Alexandria shooting and derides the “liberal media” for asking the congressman if being the target of a mass shooting had “changed your views on the gun situation in America”.

“The second amendment right to bear arms is to help ensure that we always have a republic,” Brooks says. “So no, I’m not changing my position on any of the rights we enjoy as Americans.”

Many of the Republican lawmakers on the baseball field were gun rights supporters, and some had A-ratings from the National Rifle Association. Brooks’s swift reiteration of his support was echoed by other survivors, who made clear that even a mass shooting that left the Republican House whip in intensive care would not change the terms of the gun debate.

Brooks subsequently introduced legislation that would allow members of Congress “to carry a concealed weapon anywhere in America except the US Capitol or when in the presence of the president or vice-president”.

    I can’t even.

Cornyn: “WE DON’T HAVE THE LUXURY OF KNOWING THE ANSWER TO THAT!”

Um… the infighting if it *passes* will be so much worse. They will all point fingers at each other as thousands lose coverage. With those thousands losing coverage will come massive spikes in prices and deductibles. With thousands losing coverage, people will be seeking much more ER treatment instead of early care, rolling the dice to save money. And yes, people will die because they don’t want to bankrupt their families by accepting care they can’t afford. This is a lot like the run-up to the Iraq war in a lot of ways, what the GOP is proposing, again, will have catastrophic results and what’s really even more weird this time is that the GOP knows it. Fox news only has magic powers over it’s victims when they aren’t seeing the direct effects of GOP evil.

And then someone moved into my “calling area” – no relation, I’m sure. But still, how odd to know everyone with your name was in your immediate family, and then a stranger moves to town !!!
