Site Maintenance: Updates

Folks,

Just a warning, I’m updating WordPress and some plugins and hopefully fixing false-flagging of some comments.  I’ll comment when the updates are applied; I shall wait a few minutes after this posts to ensure no one loses work on posts or comments (save your work, folks!)

 

I’ll be doing some other tweaks later this week, and hope to have a surprise or two, but that depends on my time and how things go.

    @Amir Khalid: Nothing, I just like Murano glass and I especially love fish (as a symbol, as art, as food, as a sport, as pets, etc.), and so have a small collection of them. I try to include some imagery in posts and it seemed whimsical.

    It’ll take me a while. I’m a southpaw learning to play right-handed, and my right hand is still getting up to speed on basic strumming. I’m still practising major and minor chords and learning the first few things about music theory. Today I got my start on learning notation. The Girl is right there along with me.

    There’s one little thing on the site that I hope you can get around to fixing. When I hit the Reply button on another comment, I get scrolled down to the comment box, but with the Post Comment button below the lower edge of my laptop screen. I must left-click outside the comment box and scroll down a bit more, to pull up the Post Comment button so that I can post my reply.

    @Amir Khalid: I’ve got to update the theme tomorrow, so I’ll see if that remains an issue. I’ll try to fix if so. Once done typing, you can hit Tab and then enter and that should post your comment

    @Amir Khalid: Strumming and chords are essential for muscle memory. When you feel more adventurous check out (if you haven’t already) tablature for guitars. Most of them are quite transparent for runs etc. Good luck. 60 year player here.

    Can you turn off that annoying flash commercial? Every time it refreshes I hear a car commercial. Even hitting the stop button on the embed won’t make it stop.

    @Mike J: Thanks, my chromebook screen is 1366X768 and cuts off after email address. I hadn’t considered tabbing. Works for me.

    @Jay S: Ha, it depends on where the comment box is relative to the post I reply to, Here a part of the comment box is visible and the screen does not scroll at all. if the box is off screen I am scrolled to the comment box starting at mid screen, with the “leave a comment” header at about 2/3 from the bottom.

    Well, I was on my way to lunch, Pad Thai at the newest,. best, most Thai place in the valley. Ummm it was good!

    Then I did some food errands (wine, bakery, fishmonger) and then to the Equipment Supply for a part for the BushHog, which I borked last week by hitting something hard, repeatedly. The shear bolt sheared, but bent the shaft the slides over the BushHog drive shaft. So new part: $150+shipping. The shear bolt was $1.97, but the two shafts won’t slide together since the outer shaft is bent. Darn! Better to fix it right, tho.

    I’m back now – and a Pie Filter using fool!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @Jay S: thanks I don’t have one but I’ll try to simulate the view and see what I can do. I’m sure it’s theme tweaking for certain viewport dimensions or something or other.

    Alain, every time I go to refresh a page (using IE), I get the popup that this site does not have a valid certificate.
