Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

You cannot love your country only when you win.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Decision time: keep arguing about the last election, or try to win the next one?

The world has changed, and neither one recognizes it.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

With Republicans threatening to destroy Obamacare again, I thought it would be a good time to do a little Senate fundraising.

Doug Jones in Alabama is a strong candidate. And Roy Moore is so off-his-rocker that he might be beatable. Jones hasn’t gotten much money from national sources yet (including not from DKos), so we can make a difference. You can give to his campaign here:

And how about some love for Beto O’Rourke, running against Ted Cruz? He’s that rare Democrat who inspires media mash notes (“looks more like a Kennedy than the Kennedys do”).

TPM reports Trump agreed to a Dem plan to fund the government for 3 months and pass a 8B Harvey aid package. Message: work with Dems, get shit done.

Honestly I don’t think Jones has a chance with how oppressive Alabama voting laws are.

O’Rourke, though, has some promise. And Texas isn’t exactly enamoured with Tailgunner Ted.

(“looks more like a Kennedy than the Kennedys do”).

In a Red State isn’t that what you would say or write if you wanted a candidate to lose?

Doug Jones has a better than even chance of winning here in the great state of Alabama. His work prosecuting the KKK is a big plus. He’s been strategic in grassroots campaigning and building an organization. The Democratic Party in Alabama is moribund but we have a lot of Democrats and people who will vote for a Democrat.

Honestly, he sounds like a good guy who put his ass on the line in a tough race. He deserves our support.

I think O’Rourke’s only chance is if the Republicans are so disgusted with Ted that they stay home. Which is not exactly that hard to imagine as it is easy to be disgusted by Ted.

But there is still a number of Republicans that still love everything Ted.

I’m torn about contributing to individual candidates this season. I’m really not in a position to judge which individual candidates have a chance of winning. Why don’t we have a pledge drive for the DSCC? Or for an organization working to register voters? The latter strikes me as the most important issue for Democrats.

Damn, so Trump caved to the Democrats on the debt cealing, no wonder the Republicans are bringing Obama Care up again. Just like Trump with the petty revenge when they lose.

I’m not sure if the ad server figured out that I’m a woman or if it thinks I’m a gay man, but I’m getting a beach ad with a bunch of half-naked beefcake in it.

Not that I’m complaining, mind you. It just seems like an odd way to advertise for Israel.

@Mnemosyne: I’m neither and am getting the same advert. Then again, I use an androgynous nym and am of non-binary gender identity, so who knows if it’s factoring any of that into its algorithm, or if it even has one.

I say support Jones in Alabama on the 50-state principle. Contest everything, because long-term that’s how you change minds and politics. Where would Shelley Moore Capito be if the Republicans had never contested the rock-solid Democratic state of West Virginia? On top of that, Moore is so messed-up he might provide a lighting-in-a-bottle chance to win regardless of the state’s heavy lean. He’s a nutcase by nutcase standards. Crooked, too.

Doug! previously put up an Act Blue campaign to contribute to all Democrats who get through their primaries. Can’t search for it on my phone, but maybe somebody else will put up the link.

When can you apply for citizenship? Surely by the time the Green Card is expiring! Best of luck. My passport expires in 2018, I need to get it renewed while we still have a functioning bureaucracy!
