Sarah Huckabee Sanders on anthem protests by NFL players: "I don't think there's much to clarify, it's pretty black and white there." pic.twitter.com/LpP3nxdlsg

Sarah Huckabee-Sanders is the perfect spokesperson for Donald Trump; like him, she keeps saying the quiet parts out loud. And to an African-American reporter, of course.
For us Democrats, the one good thing about this whole disgraceful display is that SHS, like DJT, entirely refutes the Media Village Idiots’ mealy-mouthed ‘just a few leftover revanchists’ argument. The GOP is the Party of Racists, and the racists are at the heart of the GOP, whatever may have happened in 1860 or 1964…

Robert Jeffress seems to have stepped quite nicely into the role of Crazy Religious Leader Who Doesn’t Seem To Get The Point Of His Own Religion vacuum created by the retirement of James Dobson.

There’s a name for when politicians accidentally tell the truth but I can’t remember what it is!

There will probably never be a “national conversation on race” worthy of the name. Why? 1/4 of white people are largely receptive to it, and by and large the white people least in need of it. Another 1/4 are largely hostile to it, and would likely never contribute anything positive to it. The half in “the middle” are alternately apathetic, ambivalent and evasive about it, and are likely to mostly tune out.

In the last thread, Adam articulated exactly what bugs me about SHS’s face: She’s like an animatronic Picasso. Each sector of her face seems to operate independently.

@Betty Cracker: I just want to know if she ever takes off that pearl choker.

So at work today, the project spin/sell-off got delayed at least a month because of a fiddly legal issue with privacy and security one of the lawyers noticed. But we still don’t actually have anything to do until we know what fixing that needs to look like. So I got put on a project to… make…… something. Using a framework we’re looking at for our next web project.
Sigh. Probably just a directionless lull at work but with the project that makes up the bulk of my work going away soon I’m still worried.
Meanwhile, anybody got any cool ideas for a web app? Thinking of cloning http://750words.com if I can’t come up with anything.

@Betty Cracker: She has one of the weirdest faces I’ve ever seen on a human. Her head is huge, and it appears that her face is even bigger so that it doesn’t fit right and is too loose.

What I notice every time I see SHS is her overly elaborate makeup. I’m not saying she’s wearing too MUCH makeup, or that it’s garish. No, I mean that it’s too careful and too perfect, which indicates that it obviously took a lot of time. This is NOT the look of a dedicated public servant who is too busy going about The People’s Business to spend much time on all this makeup tomfoolery. Your true public servant of the female variety impatiently dashes on some eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick, and quickly brushes on some sort of powder or blusher before dashing out the door. She saves the full warpaint act for date night. SHS wears makeup, every day, like a beauty contestant on pageant night. Gee, I wonder where she got that idea?

I don’t watch very much football anymore now that we know how harmful concussions are. But I am from Chicago and the Bears were playing the Packers tonight, so I watched. And I saw Danny Trevathan’s hit on Green Bay’s Davante Adams and it will be awhile before I watch again. NBA regular season starts in two weeks so I will get my sports fix that way.

She dresses like fundies do in the south and midwest, female, professional class. I’ve been observing it so long it’s as distinctive as traditional Amish to me. The long hair is a big part of it- it sets them apart more as they get older because women tend to wear their hair shorter as they get older. It’s odd- like a combination of under-dressed and over-dressed but I think what really makes it distinctive is it’s younger– they dress like girls rather than women.

@Joyce H: this is a requirement protocol for all brainless, soulless zombies used in Public Relations assignments. Otherwise the general public would likely react to them with complete revulsion*

Look, if Bennett didn’t want to get profiled or threatened, he should have tried harder to be born white. So, once again, it’s the black guy’s own damn fault.
Thanks, Obama?

But as a more general question: is there ANYONE in Lying Littledick’s Maladministration who is NOT racist, corrupt, a grifter, a liar, or just plain evil — or some combination of those traits? I’m running that through my “mind,” but coming up with a goose egg at the moment.
And that goes for The Turtle and Hitlerjugend ZEGS as well.

@Major Major Major Major: could you outline the sort of work your business has done in the past? Is there a way you can take an existing product and pull a piece out of it that could be re-used if it were an independent service?
Our company is all on the microservices, devops trend – maybe there’s something you could do that would make you the cool cutting-edge visionary.

Every time I hear something she said I realize that, yes, it is possible to find someone who is worse at this job than Sean Spicer.
Another Scott
@patrick II: I’ve had a hard time watching the NFL since Tim Krumrie’s leg snapped and flopped around like a strip of bacon many moons ago. And hearing Madden’s glee at seeing men smash into each other. And all the stupid ways that the game depends on the refs seeing and making the correct calls. And the owners crying about how hard it is to make money in their monopoly unless the taxpayers give them everything they want. And the insufferable TV coverage (especially by the local “news”). And all the rest.
It’s a horrible, horrible “sport”.
But that’s just me. ;-)
Cheers,
Scott.

@Joyce H: It’s a southern thing. A girl who doesn’t paint up real thorough is “letting herself go”, and by the time a woman is SHS’s age, she can do it in 15 minutes or less.
The cult of mandatory femininity is one reason white Southern women are so vicious.
WaterGirl

The thing is, she’s right. There’s nothing in Trump’s NFL tweets that needs clarifying. It’s not like it’s hard to understand what he meant.
What he meant is indefensible, but it’s not obscure.

For fucks sake can people please stop talking about Huckabee Sanders looks?
There’s plenty about her that is repulsive that can be discussed without descending to the level of Donald Trump talking about women

I can understand why racist nuts like football- what could be better than watching a bunch of black guys bash the crap out of each other?
But I can’t understand how anyone who thinks of football players as humans could get much enjoyment out of it.

I support the right of the players to take a knee or otherwise demonstrate their point of view. However, now that this has become so politisized, what are their next steps? Will this continue through the whole season? The connection to the underlying reason for the demonstration is not clear to many of the critics and this demonstration is pretty weak sauce to either support Kaepernick or more importantly, call attention to the abuse of blacks by police officers. My fear is that as time goes on, unless the players move to something more solid, this will just look more and more hollow. Just sayin….
Arclite
@Joyce H: Heh.
Dana Perino always looked immaculate too, but her makeup was more subtle, so it didn’t look like she was made up.
