Some pics from the wedding. Gerald’s kids spent the last couple of weeks helping my dad spruce up the back yard, and it looks really good. First, the Koi pond:

And instead of boring you all with all the food, here is the watermelon my dad carved for the fruit basket.

It was so much fun and they are such good people- I’m so happy they live next door to my parents because my dad just loves the boys and my mother loves Breanna, and it’s just nice to have good neighbors. Speaking of the neighbors, the kids are all at grandma’s and they’re still over their partying. I’m on the couch with the dogs.

    Edit: Oh, shit, Cole’s dad carved it. OK, I’ve been a boor twice today on the wedding party. I am impressed and beautiful work. Except it’s a watermelon. Suggest he take on a pineapple. Maybe he could do something with paw-paws. That would be a huge breakthrough. Seriously. We need enough people eating paw-paws that they start putting them in supermarkets.

    I was experiencing very slow loading times an hour or two ago, then after several pages (all on this blog) wouldn’t load at all I said screw it and did something else. Just getting back now.

    I have been biting my tongue, but I really think the ad situation—Taboola and the autoplay ads—is killing this blog. It seems crazy to remember that just a few months ago we had innocuous ads that weren’t driving everybody nuts.

    I’d like to know the reason for the change. Is it some effort to better monetize the blog? In the past we have had good results with the occasional whip-round for donations if the blog’s “regular” income wasn’t sufficient. What has changed? Or, if there is another reason, what is it?
