Looks like we could use both a nice, clean post and comment thread and something with a bit of joy in it, so here’s some cute animals from social media.
I’m not sure they got the casting in the live action remake of Lady and the Tramp quite right…

Someone forgot to put the cat on the charger over night:

Someone also forgot to put this baby elephant on the charger as well:

And for those of you who like dressing your dogs up for Halloween, here’s some costume dos and don’ts:
Here's how to choose a costume they'll be happy and safe in ?? https://t.co/r3584INaYa

Open thread!
Gin & Tonic
I can’t decide what the people who dress their pets up for Halloween are more deserving of: pity or contempt.
Mnemosyne
I have a feeling that dolphin was like, What the hell IS that hairy thing?
Luthe
Adam, you and John seem to have had the same idea at the same time…
Mnemosyne
@Gin & Tonic:
If I had a whippet or similar dog, I would 100 percent dress him or her in this costume.
So there.
Omnes Omnibus
@Gin & Tonic: My cocker refused to be dressed – for any holiday. OTOH, he would dance for pancakes.
Adam L Silverman
@Luthe: These things happen.
seaboogie
Many dogs here at the evacuation center here in Sonoma, which adds a nice vibe.
Omnes Omnibus
@Mnemosyne: I would not blame the beast for repeatedly shitting in your shoes.
Mike J
@Mnemosyne: It’s really cool when they get right on the bow wave to surf along with the boat. I didn’t really even think about porpoises in Puget Sound until I was worried (unnecessarily) about running them over. They’re much better helmsmen than we are.
Mnemosyne
@Omnes Omnibus:
I already have a cat who repeatedly vomits in my shoes, so at least I would have done something to earn it. The cat does not get dressed up for Halloween, but maybe I should start.
TaMara (HFG)
Baby Elephant = Bailey every morning. She’s your typical teenager, doesn’t want to get out of bed. LOL
Adam L Silverman
@Mnemosyne:@Gin & Tonic: @Omnes Omnibus: I once dated a woman that dressed her dog for Halloween as an angel. Female dog. Real sweetie. She emailed me a pic of the dog in her costume and asked me what I thought. I replied with: “why is your dog going to Halloween as a Victoria Secret model?”
Good times…
Adam L Silverman
Apparently this is happening this coming weekend:
Here’s what USC is wearing:
Bookeater (formerly JosieJ)
@Omnes Omnibus:
One must have priorities!
Omnes Omnibus
@Bookeater (formerly JosieJ): Dominance or pancakes? Sunday mornings are weird.
Amir Khalid
@Adam L Silverman:
I’m intrigued. What kind of angle looks good on a dog? Acute angle, right angle, obtuse angle? In the plane, or in three-dimensional space?
Ruckus
@Mike J:
It was fun to watch them chase our destroyer. For a long time.
Adam L Silverman
@Amir Khalid: Supposed to be angel. I fixed it.
As for angle, I’d go with obtuse, but I’m funny that way.
danielx
@Amir Khalid:
I was wondering the same thing. Also, dog lingerie?
Adam L Silverman
@danielx: Halo and wings.
danielx
@Adam L Silverman:
Clarification is good. That whole concept was…bad.
Mnemosyne
@Adam L Silverman:
Hey now, our health center used to get a really good deal on the free condoms they passed out! ?
Since it was the late 80s, the RAs would have a big manila envelope of them attached to the door of their rooms so people could sneak over and grab them without having to ask. And, yes, the school had a sweet deal for that specific brand.
Ruckus
@Adam L Silverman:
I believe I inherited that kitties batteries. Mine aren’t just small though, they are worn out and no longer hold the charge they used to, either time or total energy level.
Adam L Silverman
@danielx: No worries.
Ruckus
@TaMara (HFG):
I’m a teenager? Again? Crap.
Adam L Silverman
@Ruckus: Sorry to read that.
Ruckus
@Adam L Silverman:
Hey it’s the cycle of whatever. At some point the get up and go, does. I can still walk a couple of miles in about 25 minutes. I used to be able to do that all day long without issues.
NotMax
@Ruckus
Constantly disappointed and upset that none of this was in the prospectus.
Personal motto: Getting old is a carnival of revelations.

@NotMax:

It ain’t for the fucking weak and timid that’s for sure. That may be why life generally treats you like shit. It wants you to get used to getting old.
Sister Golden Bear
@seaboogie: Hope things turn out all right for you. Be safe.

Laura
@seaboogie: you were in my mind yesterday -are you okay?
Sis
Am I the only one who wanted to grab that dog so that she/he doesn’t fall off the boat?

That magical husky plant bears an unsettling resemblance to poison ivy . . .
