Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Human rights are not a matter of opinion!

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

You cannot shame the shameless.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

This blog will pay for itself.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

This is dead girl, live boy, a goat, two wetsuits and a dildo territory.  oh, and pink furry handcuffs.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

This fight is for everything.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Looks like we could use both a nice, clean post and comment thread and something with a bit of joy in it, so here’s some cute animals from social media.

I’m not sure they got the casting in the live action remake of Lady and the Tramp quite right…

Someone forgot to put the cat on the charger over night:

Someone also forgot to put this baby elephant on the charger as well:

And for those of you who like dressing your dogs up for Halloween, here’s some costume dos and don’ts:

Here's how to choose a costume they'll be happy and safe in 🎃👻 https://t.co/r3584INaYa

I can’t decide what the people who dress their pets up for Halloween are more deserving of: pity or contempt.

    @Gin & Tonic:

If I had a whippet or similar dog, I would 100 percent dress him or her in this costume.

    So there.

@Gin & Tonic: My cocker refused to be dressed – for any holiday. OTOH, he would dance for pancakes.

Many dogs here at the evacuation center here in Sonoma, which adds a nice vibe.

@Mnemosyne: It’s really cool when they get right on the bow wave to surf along with the boat. I didn’t really even think about porpoises in Puget Sound until I was worried (unnecessarily) about running them over. They’re much better helmsmen than we are.

    @Omnes Omnibus:

I already have a cat who repeatedly vomits in my shoes, so at least I would have done something to earn it. The cat does not get dressed up for Halloween, but maybe I should start.

@Mnemosyne:@Gin & Tonic: @Omnes Omnibus: I once dated a woman that dressed her dog for Halloween as an angel. Female dog. Real sweetie. She emailed me a pic of the dog in her costume and asked me what I thought. I replied with: “why is your dog going to Halloween as a Victoria Secret model?”

    Good times…

I’m intrigued. What kind of angle looks good on a dog? Acute angle, right angle, obtuse angle? In the plane, or in three-dimensional space?

Hey now, our health center used to get a really good deal on the free condoms they passed out! ?

Since it was the late 80s, the RAs would have a big manila envelope of them attached to the door of their rooms so people could sneak over and grab them without having to ask. And, yes, the school had a sweet deal for that specific brand.

It ain’t for the fucking weak and timid that’s for sure. That may be why life generally treats you like shit. It wants you to get used to getting old.
