Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

The words do not have to be perfect.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

The willow is too close to the house.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

He really is that stupid.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

From party-planning commentor CaseyL:

Elliott Bay Brewhouse & Pub in Burien, on Sunday October 15th at 2:00pm

Elliot Bay doesn’t take reservations per se, but I have called them to let them know a “Balloon Juice” group will be coming by Sunday at 2:00.

I will have a round paper lantern colored purple and blue (leftover from the Autumnal Equinox celebration last month).

Lurkers, spouses, and plus-ones always welcome. Have a great time, y’all, and don’t forget the pics!

I’m sorry I’ll miss it. Two reasons, really. First, what used to be an hour-and-a-half drive to Seattle is now generally closer to three hours (grr traffic!). And second, driving to Seattle every couple of weeks for chemo and PET scans etc. has kinda put me off making that drive if I don’t absolutely have to. Well, OK, there’s a third reason but it’s a bit lame: ever since starting chemo, I can’t stand the taste of alcohol, which strikes me as totally unfair.

Nevertheless! Here’s hoping y’all have a great time!

Add two, we may be a bit late because we’re coming up from scenic metropolitan Beaverton, Oregon. We’ll be looking for that lantern.

Wish I could be there, but I live in Atlanta.

On the other hand, I would give some serious thought to taking a road trip to the PNW maybe next year sometime, and would love to meet up then with area Juicers.

@Smiling Mortician: As far as your third reason goes, I don’t drink the boozey stuff(quit 7 years ago) and I’ve not had any problems with meetups with the jackals. I understand the first two reasons completely.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: To be fair, most people who meet me soon find themselves wanting a drink.

@Smiling Mortician: totally get all the reasons. If others are curious the pub has a house root beer soda on tap and other non-alcohol choices along with beer/cider/wine.

@Mike J: I’ll take that under advisement if you’re in LA.

I forgot my Wazzu sweatshirt at home, which is what I was going to use to identify myself with. Just look for the guy too young to have a walker.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: In Washington we have alternative inebriants, which coincidentally might be of use to a chemo patient too.

I was planning to be there, but I have to send my regrets–I’m not going to be able to get away tomorrow afternoon, after all.

I hope you have a great time!

Dammit. I didn’t know about this until the wee hours of Sunday morning, and I’ve already got plans to go with my youngest kid to a book event for Hugh Howey, the guy who wrote “Wool”. That event is at 3 in Bellevue. No way can I make both. Sorry guys, I think I’d rather go to the meet-up.
I thought the short story “Wool” was very good but one of the most dismal things I’d read.
