Some of the games on tap for today:
Of most interest to me is Florida-Georgia, of course. Like I told Dawg fan Raven in the early morning thread, I’m surprised Florida is only a two-touchdown underdog. We suck this year.
The good news, from my perspective, is that the ‘Noles got walloped by Boston College last night, so the obnoxious FSU fans in my life won’t have standing to taunt me, even if Georgia blows Florida out.
Open thread!

If OSU loses to Penn State, the streets here will not be safe.
raven
This is my 33d year in Athens and the WLCP has been mostly a disappointment. Of course the first game pits my awful Illini against a strong Bucky Badger outfit. Some of my best memories are of going up to Madison for the game but having an incredible time there for Halloween. Hope for the best and expect the worst!
raven
Oh yea, there is a really bad rain front coming in which could. 1). Wreck my Dish feed for the game, 2.) wreck the huge Wild Rumpus Parade tonight after my bride spent hours making here flower costume.
clay
I’m headed to the Ga-Fl game right this very minute. I learned long ago not to give too much smack talk before the game, so I’ll just say that I’m rooting for the Dawgs to win, and a safe game for all of the players.
raven
@clay: WOOF!

Watching the spinning wheel at the Comic-Con website. Will not watch any football. But hopefully will clean up the apartment a bit.
Corner Stone
NBC now confirming two sources say the indictment from Mueller will come Monday.
germy
@Corner Stone: What’s your prediction? Manafort?
(Man-OverBoard-afort)
Corner Stone
@germy: I kind of think it has to be. He’s the hub to get at all the interlinking parts of this investigation.
If they indict John S. Dingleberry III, I will start emigration process to move to Iceland.
Suzanne
@Corner Stone: I really am hoping that it is Jared and/or Ivanka. GOD THAT WOULD BE SO HOT.
Corner Stone
Whatever is in the air of this cool front has got my schnozz running like a halfback.

I didn’t know New York was an open carry state but Stephanie Ruhle has brought the guns to work today.
dr. bloor
@germy: Flynn Jr has gone AWOL on Twitter, so it seems possible dad’s name is in the envelope.
Steve in the ATL
@Corner Stone: like a Florida halfback or like a Georgia halfback? Big difference.
Also, props on tying the thread theme into your personal health issue.
Corner Stone
@Suzanne: Maybe they are waiting to unseal until Monday because of the religious observation JarJar and Ivanka claim to take.
Suzanne
@Corner Stone: A girl can dream.
Corner Stone
@Steve in the ATL: It’s more like an old school “three yards and a cloud of snot” type halfback. I have to keep stacking 8 in the kleenex box to try and stop it from breaking containment.
JPL
@Steve in the ATL: Do you have any exciting elections coming up? I know you have council and mayor, like I do.
Jerry
I’m really looking forward to the NC State/Notre Dame game. Go woofies!
I’m heading over to Greensboro tomorrow morning to check out a 1978 Kawasaki KZ650. It’s not currently running, but hold mah beer, I think I can figure it out. Got a great price on it, though, so I can take my time and get the carbs cleaned out real good and look for anything else. Maybe new plugs then all new fluids and possibly a new battery, she should be road ready without too much effort.
Corner Stone
@dr. bloor: I could be wrong, but IMO I think Flynn is a small piece and Mueller et al already know what Flynn knows. He may be the easiest to get at around the edges, however.
JPL
I’m beginning to think that it’s a perjury charge against Flynn, although I’m hoping for money laundering against Trump’s lawyer.
ThresherK
@Jerry: Is that a 4? Did Kawasaki make that in one of their 3s?
Davebo
@JPL: But wouldn’t a perjury charge against Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III be awesome!
OK, that’s just crazy dreaming…
Corner Stone
@Jerry:

I too hope for Kewpie Boy, but I’ll be happy no matter who it is because any of them will piss off all of Trump’s posse beyond belief. I look forward to much sputtering anger.

Go State…Penn State that is.
germy
@JPL: i thought flynn would avoid that by cooperating.
prufrock
What about us unobnoxious FSU fans? ;-)
Seriously, something is badly wrong with this year’s team, that goes beyond injuries and a neophyte QB.
germy
@dr. bloor:
Finally listening to his lawyers?
Catherine D.
@Davebo:
I would love to see the KKKeebler elf indicted! But there are so many good picks.
dr. bloor
@Corner Stone: You’re probably right, but I’m holding very modest hopes for this round.
Gin & Tonic
@germy: I seem to recall rumors that Flynn wanted to cooperate but Bobby Three Sticks said “no thanks, we don’t need any.”
Mr Stagger Lee
@debbie: They will demand Urban Meyer be canned? Though I am a Buckeye fan, I have been enjoying both Washington and Washington State this year, though it sucked they lost, this years Apple Cup will be epic if they run the table. On the College playoff front, I hate to see Clemson left out, unless they lose another game, and yes despite Mike Golic’s irritating Irish worship, Notre Dame should be in.(yes I know it is still early)
Duane
I hope the Houston Texans walk out en masse during tomorrow’s game. Inmates in charge of the prison? Fuck you, Bob Mcnair.He’s a top canidate for ass of the year, amongst a crowded field of asses.
Amir Khalid
After horrendous defeats to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool have got their asses in gear and defeated Huddersfield, Whew.
I see all the breathless speculation about just who is going to be arrested on Monday. I’m not about to join in, but I will state the obvious: that person’s name will be the public’s first real clue to what sort of case Bobby Three Sticks and his team are putting together. It will also be instructive to see the reactions in Trumpland — to watch someone give themselves away by showing that little bit too much fear.
Corner Stone
I guess the question on the indictment is, do we think it’s about Russia, money laundering (separate from Russia collusion) or some resulting crime such as obstruction or perjury.
IMO Manafort ticks off a lot of all those boxes. If it’s perjury then JarJar or Sessions would be glorious. Carter Page or Flynn seem like afterthoughts at this point.
Davebo
Keep in mind the CNN report says a grand jury returned “charges”.
Could be more than one on the hot seat.
Betty Cracker
@prufrock: I got no problem with non-obnoxious fans! Work with some folks who are insufferable, though.

Yes, it’s is a 4 cylinder. I think the 3 cylinder bikes that they made back then were the 2 stroke bikes.
Corner Stone
@Amir Khalid: I didn’t know you were in the armed services?
Jerry
@Corner Stone:
Ha! Yeah, probably, but I really enjoy doing this even though I’m not an expert by any means. I’ve a bit of practice over the past 10 or so years doing the same thing on vintage BMWs. Although, those bikes were in much better shape than the one that I’m looking at tomorrow, but I still had to a bit of wrenching on them. It was fun.
Mike J
After?
Amir Khalid
@Corner Stone:
My only experience of the military is from watching movies and TV shows about it.
Roger Moore
@Corner Stone:
I’m not sure that he’s the hub any more than Sessions is. Sessions is the one who was clearly involved with both Russia and the obstruction of justice.

This Longhorn offense, or lack thereof is driving me nuts!

Corner Stone
@Amir Khalid: Oh, sorry about that. I thought you had achieved the rank of Captain. Captain Obvious, that is!
Boom! Roasted! Getchu some of that!
That was going to be a better joke at some point but I should have counted on your equanimous commenting style.

@Catherine D.:
Corner Stone
@Roger Moore: But Sessions is not involved with the money or the money laundering, IMO. Manafort has a thumb in everything going on.

Annoyed that the Pac12 still hasn’t cut a deal with Directv. Thankfully there are other ways to see today’s Cal-Colorado game.
Though the way it’s going, it seems like Cal’s safeties must have smoked a lot of (legal!) weed pre-game — four major blown coverages just in Q1. Sigh. OTOH, Cal is a second-half team this year, so maybe things will pick up later on.
CU’s mascot, Ralphie — an actual buffalo — is fun to watch galloping around the field though.
Spanky
Re the indictment(s): This round is just small fry. Manafort is the biggest of the small fry, and I think it’ll probably be someone even smaller. And I strongly suspect this “leak” announcing a sealed indictment was put out there because everyone knows that Certain Individuals cannot refrain from tweeting. And I’m sure there are members of Mueller’s team taking close note of who says what this weekend.
And there will be more rounds, praise fsm.
Now off to cut the grass and studiously avoid the PSU/OSU game, because I know my BP cannot take it. Go Lions!
JPL

I feel so dirty when I check on his feed. ick
JPL
@Spanky: Manafort’s attorney mentioned a while back that they were expecting an indictment, so he’s probably not a flight risk. Sealed indictments sometimes mean the person could be a flight risk.

The first indictments are going to be for well-defined, clear-cut crimes like money laundering. Mueller won’t want to lead with something slipperier like obstruction or perjury. Best to prove there was justice to be obstructed first, then go after obstructors.

Football thread? You Americans do not know football. And how important that sportsball all sportsball is here.
Sports here are CRAZY. And the fun thing is that because all the European countries are so close, they all travel to to wherever the final is. My first football final here was Dublin vs France (yeah unlike America the vs. means the home team.) Anyway I walk out of my apt and I see all these people dressed in the French flag.
The great thing was France lost. And all of those frogs were in the pub. And they didn’t care. Well they cared but it was over, so Let’s have a pint and be friends.
ETA: there are still a lot of paper newspapers here. They are maybe 50 pages long. 20 are devoted to sports scores.

@Steve in the ATL: LOL. Picture this. My first time in Dublin 30 years ago. I am walking down O’Connell St (the Broadway of Ireland). All of a sudden I hear this big roar behind me. Apparently Ireland won something and the spontaneous drunk parade was right behind me. A wonderful woman dragged me off the sidewalk into a pub. Good for me. Cuz I love a drunk happy Irishman. 50000 of them? Not so much.

@Davebo: A grade school friend of mine had one of those (I think – it was a 50 cc Honda, but his was red). I was so jealous. He gave me a ride on the back once. I didn’t know how to ride on the back. He leaned left, I leaned right, and we wrecked. No harm done, but he started crying and I didn’t get another ride on it.

Neat little machine.
The youngsters around here have all kinds of electric Razr scooters and play cars. I think they’re missing out by not having real motors, but “real motors” are going the way of the dodo, so it’s probably for the best.

The WVU game was a little disappointing. They kept having chances to make the points up, and never really took advantage of their opportunities. IT is a tough league, the Big12.
And it’s raining, which we badly need, but it messes with our internet connection something awful! 3 inches of rain in the month, and the ephemeral stream next to the house is still not running a bit, not even puddles except while it is actually raining.
