MLK document included in JFK files contains explosive but uncorroborated allegations against the civil rights leader https://t.co/XpJxKYxfco

Why is what sounds like a COINTELPRO file on MLK included in the JFK file release? https://t.co/zs5PwTbIE4

.
Because — I predict — by Saturday afternoon, the Wingnutosphere will be chattering YER HERO EM-EL-KAY LOVED HIM SOME RUSSIANS, NOW WHAT, LIBS U R SO PWNED!!!
And by Sunday morning, the Bobblehead Pundits will be debating, “Was Dr. King himself a Communist plant? Why has this information only come to light now?”
(Answer: Hoover’s attempts to incriminate MLK as a filthy Commie stooge were well-known enough to be a MAD magazine joke even in the 1960s, but Bobblehead Pundits have the memory span of a particularly inbred goldfish.)
At least now we know why Liddle Lord Lardpants was tweeting so avidly about the JFK file release. I figured it was just catnip for Fox-watching conspiracy fans, but I suppose his handlers couldn’t get Trump to cooperate until they let him in on their very cunning plan…

so let me get this straight…
we find out that Ms. Brazille was either cherrypicking her statements to imply that HRC influenced the DNC based on the financial situation regarding the fundraising issue or else she completely misrepresented what was going on and essentially it is the usual Clinton nothingburger. So Clinton did what any party loyalist would have done, bailed out her party through her own auspices and now she’s being misrepresented as buying influence from the party that she has been a member of for over 45 years versus a guy who styles himself as an independent who signed on to run as a Dem and signed paperwork indicating that he understand how the primary and the fundraising would work and then his own campaign got caught up in the minutiae of each state being their own entity.
also too… Franken rakes the Facebook people over the fucking coals for accepting political ads being paid for in foreign currency, from Russian Bot farms and they say that its too fucking hard for them to know its illegal as fuck and here we are, watching the same fucking thing happen in the Va Governors race where now at the last minute, a boatload of political ads are flooding the platform in favor of the GOP candidate (or are anti the Dem candidate) and there’s nary a thing anyone will do about it….
in addition, we find out that the DNC e-mail hack information, finds its way into ads sponsored by the Zombie Eyed Granny Starver’s PAC for ads in last year’s election…
When do we finally say enough is enough and start throwing some treasonous fucking people in jail?

I mean let’s not pretend Trump released like three thousand pages of documents so that some juicy stuff about MLK would distract us from the indictments that hadn’t come yet.

It’s not like he could have read 3000 pages of anything and have the slightest clue what was on page one.

When Hoover asked for the wiretaps, Bobby consulted me (I was then his deputy) and Burke Marshall, head of the Civil Rights Division. Both of us agreed to the tap because we believed a refusal would lend credence to the allegation of communist influence, while permitting the tap, we hoped, would demonstrate the contrary. I think the decision was the right one, under the circumstances. But that doesn’t mean that the tap was right. King was suspected of no crime, but the government invaded his privacy until I removed the tap two years later when I became attorney general. It also invaded the privacy of every person he talked to on that phone, not just [Stanley] Levinson.
But what we didn’t know during this period was that Hoover was doing a lot more than tapping King’s phones. As King’s criticism of the FBI continued, and as Hoover became more and more convinced there must be communist influence even though no evidence ever materialized, he determined to discredit and destroy King. He went further, putting bugs in King’s hotel bedrooms across the country. (He claimed that Atty. Gen. Herbert Brownell had authorized him to use such listening devices in cases involving “national security” back in the 1950s, and that he did not require further permission from the current attorney general, who in any case had no idea that the FBI was doing it.)
The FBI recorded tapes of King conducting extramarital affairs — and later had the tapes mailed to King anonymously, in one case actually encouraging him to commit suicide. Tapes were played for journalists, and the FBI sought to discredit King with foreign leaders, religious leaders, White House personnel and members of Congress. The bureau tried to kill a favorable magazine profile and encouraged one university to withhold an honorary degree.

Their entire business model is based on, “Hey, the algorithms are in charge, we’re just passengers [shrug].” It’s made them filthy rich and it’s made the country filthy stupid and they’re not the only ones.

Funny how Sanders is to the Retards Lite what Clinton is to the Retards.
Not endearing to those you would call upon for help, not endearing at all.

Either “some guy” has failed to attribute a quote, or else he is Nicholas Katzenbach commenting from beyond the grave.
And I’m up at the ass-crack of dawn because I have to go to New York for a funeral, so adios for now.

say, weren’t the conservaturds claiming not so long ago that MLK was a conservative, or would be a conservative if he was alive today?
Always heads they win, tails you lose with these cretins.

@magurakurin: Clinton should not run again.

@Applejinx: Don’t think anyone disagrees with you there. This latest BS is just proof that the media will always hate her.
Doesn’t change the fact that Brazile fucked up the party pretty badly for her own profit just a few days ago.

Wishing everyone has a good weekend. Gonna do some yard work, make some calls into VA later today. Purchased my first Xmas present Monday while I was in an actual real local bookstore (eat that Amazon) which is an all time early first and just another sign I am old—used to put off all shopping until the last week. The book, for my 84 year-old pretty active mom, is about Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s workout, written by her personal trainer.
Last but not least had this funny moment on Halloween. We had 60-75 trick or treaters this year and a lot of them were using the same material. Around 7:45 a young woman (maybe 12ish) came to the door dressed as a stylish witch. I asked if she had a trick. She did, “What’s a witch’s favorite subject in school?” I’d already heard this 3 or 4 times and answered fairly quickly and confidently: “spelling.” Her exasperated reply, “ah c’mon man!” was priceless & made my night.

@MisterForkbeard: Pretty sure it’s because Clinton means to run again, and other Democrats are like ‘uh NOPE’. There is no other possible reason for these people doing this when they stand to gain so much from just letting it slide. The only explanation is that Clinton is retaining control of the Democratic Party and means to run again, and the only purpose of this is to wrest control of the party from her and her people. To what end, dunno.
I think they just want the Democratic party to have any identity other than the extremes of Clinton and Sanders. Mind you, they also want access to both Clinton’s and Sanders’ funding sources, but they want to establish an identity that’s not Republican/not Clinton/not Sanders, because all those things are so tainted and divisive.
Makes sense, don’t know if it’ll work.

@magurakurin: I have been pretty angry at these two women. Brazille has no business setting fires in public. And Elizabeth Warren agravated me beyond measure. If there are problems in the Party, and, God knows, there are, you work from inside. You DO NOT light fires under the, likely only, Structure that could save this country. I am DISAPPOINT.
