I sure hope so. I can’t stand another full year of deep funk. A little hope would be nice. Joisey is too easy. We need to win one of these nail biters like VA.

Sicko Drumpf asks CIA to push disgusting Seth Rich conspiracy theory.
At the urging of President Donald Trump, CIA Director Mike Pompeo met last month with a former U.S. intelligence official who advocates a fringe theory that the hack of the Democrats during the election was an inside job and not the work of Russian intelligence, the former official told NBC News.
***
Binney told NBC News that Pompeo informed him that the CIA director took the meeting at the urging of the president.
***
He has also been a frequent guest on Fox News and has often been cited by Breitbart News, two right-wing outlets to which Trump pays close attention.
Binney told NBC News he believes Trump learned about his theory by watching his recent Fox television appearances.
So, let me ask this question before the results are known. I’ll keep asking until I’m convinced it’s irrelevant:
How did the Russians hack this election?
@Spanky: Well, there were hundreds of vote suppression tweets on twitter today, which of course Jack and his little friends ignored.
Still haven’t figured out how Northam rigged the primary though.
12.
Jeffro
@David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch: hmm…muddying the waters? Causing chaos? Corrupting institutions? I wonder who Trumpov learned that from??

I asked on the last thread about the House of Delegates. Looking at results so far, the Dems look like they can pick up between 10-15 seats. I think that would be a fantastic showing. Anyone able to tell what impact it would have?
Someone on MSNBC earlier this evening said a ten delegate pickup would be huge. Fifteen, based on what the guy said, would be earth shattering, I’m thinking.
18.
japa21
@NotMax: Then may not turn it totally around, but would still be pretty impressive.
Last year felt like projectile vomiting. Today I’m hoping to celebrate!
Why not both?
20.
NotMax
Yes it’s a bit like reading entrails, but the last time both NJ and VA elected Dem governors was in 2005.
And remember how the midterms of 2006 played out.
21.
O. Felix Culpa
@TenguPhule: I suppose if perversely inclined one could celebrate projectile vomiting, but I don’t want to relive last year, no way, no how. Go Virginia!

VA GOP house whip loses to a democratic Soshulist!
VA called for Northam. First transgender delegate elected over a 26 yr R incumbent. Looks like a chance of flipping the chamber.

Think I may have to make a special trip out to get some ice cream :). Maybe the next most important win for me would be Maine expanding Medicaid.

Transgender bathroom bill guy got beat!
39.
Marcopolo
@O. Felix Culpa: So on MSNBC they just noted the R incumbent that Roehm (hope I have the spelling right) the transgender candidate beat, is the guy who authored VA’s transgender bathroom bill. Now that’s some sweet irony.
Also, it looks like the yutes really showed up to vote today.
40.

Ok everyone send good vibes to Q2 to expand Medicaid in Maine.
@Mothra: By a transgender person! How sweet it is.

About to head out to grab the ice cream but can I just say I sure hope R members of Congress are watching these results and feeling as ill as I did a year ago—and that a bunch more decide to retire in the next month or so!

@NotMax: Charlottesville is at 86/12 so far, but only 2 out of 10 precincts have reported. Fairfax is at 2 to 1, and that is incredible. Given how big it is it tends to be more like 57/43. Even Loudoun is at 59/39. Arlington is at 79/19. I am still angry at the Gillespie ads. They were racist and noxious, horrible.
Here’s hoping we flip as many House of Delegates seats as possible, also too.
Cheers,
Scott.
52.
Barbara
@Another Scott: I went through them individually and it looks like there might be around 13 Dem pick ups. A few were close but Republicans were still leading.

Looking good in VA, my granddaughter worked hard for Northam. Plus, I got my Pete Souza book today, one for me and one for each of my husband’s caregivers. Now if Donna Brazile would just go away. Please, Chris Hayes, give me a break. She is a babbling fool.
55.
O. Felix Culpa
@Kay Eye: Good for your granddaughter! She – and the rest of the sane and reality-based country – can celebrate tonight. Enjoy the Souza book. I’ve got it on my wish list. Brazile, not so much.

Damn! Had a crapton of work today that lasted well into the evening and was scared to check the news about election results tonight for fear of not being able to sleep, but hey! It’s lookin’ good overall, esp. in Virginia.
Remember, this was an off-off-cycle election. Dems were supposed to whiff it big time, but here we are. God, I hope this has every GOP congressperson placing a recurring order for extra-absorbent Depends on Amazon tonight. Especially given how apocalyptically horrible they have to know their tax bill is. Be afraid, GOP Congresscritters. Be very afraid.
