Well Now That’s Interesting, Isn’t It

This post is in: Election 2016, "Lock Her Up!!"

FacebookTweetEmail

I know I am setting myself up for disaster, but every time I read one of these stories I sit back and have a nice little daydream about watching Donald Trump’s stupid spawn being perpwalked in a prison jumpsuit:

Donald Trump Jr. asked a Russian lawyer at the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting whether she had evidence of illegal donations to the Clinton Foundation, the lawyer told the Senate Judiciary Committee in answers to written questions obtained exclusively by NBC News.

The lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, told the committee that she didn’t have any such evidence, and that she believes Trump misunderstood the nature of the meeting after receiving emails from a music promoter promising incriminating information on Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump’s Democratic opponent.

Once it became apparent that she did not have meaningful information about Clinton, Trump seemed to lose interest, Veselnitskaya said, and the meeting petered out.

The Trump campaign met with so many god damned Russians it’s hard to keep track of everything, but I believe this is the meeting they all lied about, then said was about adoption, then all denied it was about getting dirt on the Clintons despite the emails, then said they didn’t read the emails, and then Manafort and Kushner claimed they weren’t paying attention and just looking at their phones and know nothing.

At any rate, it seems pretty clear the only thing these clowns wanted to adopt was dirt on Hillary. Lock ’em all up.

    Yup. And the Russians figured out that that was the best bait to catch as many Republicans in their net as possible. Not to mention all of the people on the American left who jumped at the exact same bait.

    As someone here keeps saying, an irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton is a very clear indicator of which side someone is on, and it ain’t the American side.

    @Major Major Major Major: Do we know how NBC obtained it? Such leaks lead to questions as to who leaked it and why. This one fits with a few other things that have happened that lead me to the conclusion that Putin is tiring of Trump and will do what he can to sow chaos here. Trump is merely a tool for Putin to use to that end. As for this being Senate testimony, some in the Senate are in positions to be…persuaded to do certain things, shall we say.

    @Ken: The President, not Jr. Although Junior will be collateral damage. Donald won’t protect Jr., as we all know and the Russians also know, but his namesake son being an idiot and a traitor isn’t a good look for him. Leads to chaos, which is Putin’s goal.

The person or persons who leaked it may have done it on their own or may have been influenced by something related to Russia. As I said above, it fits with a few other things that have left me with the impression that Putin has decided or is deciding that Trump isn’t as useful as he thought he might be and will and is throwing him under the bus. @David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch: that made me curious about Roy Moore’s service. That fucker went to West Point?

    Moore was admitted to the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, on the recommendation of outgoing Democratic U.S. Representative Albert Rains, and after confirmation of that nomination by incoming Republican Representative James D. Martin of Gadsden. He graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. With the Vietnam War underway, Moore served in several posts as a military police officer, including Fort Benning, Georgia, and Illesheim, Germany before being deployed to the Republic of Vietnam. Serving as the commander of 188th Military Police Company of the 504th Military Police Battalion,[22] Moore was perceived to be reckless, but very strict. He insisted his troops salute him on the battlefield, against his training, as such recognition facilitates an officer being targeted by an enemy.[23] Some of his soldiers gave him the derogatory nickname “Captain America”, due to his attitude toward discipline. This role earned him enemies, and in his autobiography he recalls sleeping on sandbags to avoid a grenade or bomb being tossed under his cot, as many of his men had threatened him with fragging.[21]

    From the Palmer Report: Spicer is going to jail

    Lying to the public is not a violation of the law in and of itself. But, as this video clip) unearthed by Just Security reveals, on January 23rd, Spicer used his briefing to claim that Flynn had only called the Ambassador to wish him happy holidays. Now we know from McFarland’s emails that Spicer was already well aware of the true (and illegal) nature of Flynn’s phone calls. It means Spicer committed obstruction of justice by lying to the public in an attempt at throwing off Trump-Russia investigators.

    Keep in mind that Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team have already interviewed Sean Spicer. It’s not known what Spicer said. But if he lied about the above matter, then he’s also committed the felony of lying to federal investigators. Now Spicer is looking at one, and maybe two, felony charges.

    Yup. He repeatedly lied about Flynn’s calls to Sergey Kislyak

    Robert Mueller may not be through with Rick Gates, a deputy Trump campaign aide and one of the four people who have been charged as part of the special counsel probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

    In a court appearance Monday in Manhattan, Gates’ attorney Walter Mack said that federal prosecutors have told him that more charges, called superseding indictments, may be coming.

    “We don’t know what the government is going to do,” Mack said in court, referring to both Gates’ case and a white-collar case in New York involving one of Gates’ business partners. “I mean, in both cases we’ve been told that there may be a superseder. We don’t know what’s happening.”

    We had some rain this afternoon. Not enough to put water in the tiny creek beside the house, but it soaked the leaf fall on the ground. We don’t get the kind of raging fires they have in the Rockies and out west here.

    Usually it’s a slow burning little fire in the leaves on the ground, bigger where there’s a downed dead tree or pines, but the oak forests don’t go crazy into the tree tops much. We do have forest fires, they are scary, I have fought them with garden tooks, rakes, shovels and hoes, pushing the burning leaves back into the burnt part so they can’t spread the fire further.

    We have a well and a pump, so we can fight a fire around the house with water if the electric stays on. That’s a big if, as the poles are dried and treated, inclined to burn if a good fire starts them.

    @Steve in the ATL:

    I was there many moons ago. Going in I thought it was a great idea. Now I do wonder WTF I was thinking.

    I had my heart set on the Air Force Academy but learned well into the application process I was color blind. I am now very, very glad I was disqualified.

    @Omnes Omnibus: did you end up going to Liberty or Oral Roberts? I can never remember.

    @efgoldman: thought you went to the school of hard knocks—is it measured in opportunity cost?

    @efgoldman: Given who I was as a high school senior, a small liberal arts school was a better place for me than a Ivy or public Ivy. I was barely 18 and a not very mature 18 when I started college. My LAC (and my fraternity) let me become a more sophisticated person en route to getting a degree.

    @?BillinGlendaleCA: btw you locals are going to think I’m making this up, but I was walking down Brand Avenue this afternoon and…no shit…I saw a driver find an open parking space. I was so shocked I almost dropped my In and Out chocolate shake.

    Been away a while.
    Creek fire. North side San Fernando Valley. Used to live about a mile west of there. Talked to friend and he said they are packing and getting out, but that the wind had turned and was heading the opposite direction.
    Here’s the Cal Fire state wide fire map. Click on Creek fire.

    @Ken:
    They had total replacement insurance for the first fire. The fire was actually a good thing for them. The 94 earthquake destroyed their home and wouldn’t have been covered. But a neighbors house caught fire then roared through 5 more homes before the fire dept could get there and put it out. CA insurance commissioner declared that if a house had burned, wasn’t arson and they had fire insurance, the company had to pay. That helped quite a few folks. They couldn’t get full coverage again. So the had to take out a loan after the second fire. Understand he was still working and had about almost 30 yrs in with a great pension, so moving then was out. He’s retired now, may actually be older than EFG, I can never remember if my friend is 3 or 4 yrs older than me. So I’m not sure that they will actually leave but he seems ready.

    @Nancy B: Those are good ones. I think my fondest wish is for Donnie Jr. to get caught up in Mueller’s net, then Two Scoops cuts him loose and in a patricidal rage born of spending his entire worthless life trying to please that miserable s.o.b., Jr. disseminates a virtual torrent of incriminating information on the orange fart cloud, exacting the ultimate revenge.
