I wish I felt friendlier. I now only feel friendly toward people who voted for HRC.

Cats know what cats like.
Patricia Kayden
@zhena gogolia: Twitter has pretty much sanctioned Sheriff Clarke’s violent rants against liberals and the media so it doesn’t feel like we’re going to get any friendliness from Trumpers. But that’s okay.
Mary G
Stay safe and warm, rest of America. It looks miserable in pictures.
@Patricia Kayden: He’s really going off the rails today. Caps lock key getting a workout.
NotMax
A double dozen plus one helping of New Year’s bits ‘n’ bobs.
germy
@Patricia Kayden:
I like how he features a photo of John Wayne, his hero. I’ve seen interviews Wayne gave in the 1960s where it was obvious he didn’t think much of Black people.
Patricia Kayden
@germy: Clarke doesn’t think much of Black people either which is why he allowed one to die of thirst in his prison (three other inmates have died under questionable circumstances) so Wayne is a perfect icon for him. To be a Conservative in this country, you must hate your own kind if you’re non-White and not straight. Or so it appears.
Brachiator
For folks who may be going to the movies, The Greatest Showman received mixed reviews, but is pleasing older audiences and families. From Forbes,
Previously I also recommended the new Jumanji movie, which has fun, action and a surprising amount of heart.
B.B.A.
@Patricia Kayden:
Fixed.

@Brachiator:
That kind of box office increase is usually a sign that a movie people were a little iffy about is getting good word of mouth. People were going to skip it until a friend/family member saw it and said it was good.
Gin & Tonic
I’m reading a WaPo story about cops shot in Colorado this morning, and get to this para:
All those police officers were non-citizens? Very inclusive of the respective departments. I hope they at least had green cards.
Or maybe something else was meant?
Betty Cracker
@Mary G: Clarke’s pinned tweet tells the tale: he’s drumming up business for his “enterprise” in hopes of parlaying his reputation as a flair-wearing Trump toady and fake internet tough guy into speaker fees. He’s no longer a sheriff, and the DHS gig didn’t work out, so…
JMG
@Gin & Tonic: They meant “civilians.” I’ll let that go as an honest error in terminology under stress.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
because of course this happened (courtier-scribe Jonathan Swan of Axios)
The Thin Black Duke
@Mnemosyne: Good. Sure, playing Wolverine made Hugh Jackman rich, but he’s a good actor and this movie is a perfect vehicle to showcase his talents.
Yutsano
@Betty Cracker: He also needs legal money. Mueller is starting to move after him as well.
As the saying goes, Tick Tock Muthafucka…
schrodingers_cat
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: Fuck Halperin, that self satisfied jerk.
Litlebritdifrnt
DH and I went out to Pizza Magherita for dinner (absolutely wonderful Morecambe Bay shrimp for my starter was bliss) we then wandered around town and ended up at Wetherspoons and decided that midnight was not going to happen (besides NFL was on TV for DH) so we got a Taxi home. I guess we will see in the New Year watching the Panthers :)
NotMax
Just finished watching Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everyone Talking About Him)? on Amazon Prime. And glad I did.
Tender but oh so bittersweet documentary. To sum it up, a professional lifetime of concatenations too finite for his talent.
NotMax
Italics fail above. Fix.

So cute!

@NotMax: I gave the dvd to my husband a few years ago for his birthday and we both really enjoyed it. Good to know it’s streaming–it’s worth another viewing.
Teddys Person
@Jim, Foolish Literalist:
Yikes, I’m surprised the hellmouth didn’t open up and swallow us all.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@Teddys Person: think Eric or Fredo read that guest list and had a sad?

@germy: Cats know what cats want…
Cats know what cats like…..cats like….cats like……cats like me.
Sorry about the old Waitresses reference. I just really miss the music threads that used to be here…….
Teddys Person
@Jim, Foolish Literalist: I hope so. I haz a happy anytime a Trump haz a sad.
No One You Know
Practicing friendliness: giving a goat via Heifer International. Because goats are cool, and cheap, and it’s my take on “Feed the World,” and tomorrow’s my own kid’s birthday, and he already has everything. Taking $120 off the tax bill doesn’t hurt either.
Mnemosyne
Speaking of cats, I discovered that I somehow managed to lose a small piece of beef for tonight’s stew when I found it on the dining room carpet being gnawed on by one of our little obligate carnivores.
I took it away from her and gave her crunchy treats instead, which she seemed to find an acceptable substitute.
Mnemosyne
@No One You Know:
Goats are the awesomest to give for that because they provide milk, clothing, and (in a pinch) meat.
fuckwit
I am a huge asshole and I’m finding myself getting even crankier and nastier each year.
