Ohhhhhh! That face! Love the one on your website in the car. Awww…. And next to Bixby…hilarious. Scout looks like a tiny little toy. I hope Bixby is head over heels.

Tired puppeh. First day in a new home, so many smells, plus that giant guy sniffing at her. Must be exhausting.

Thanks for sharing Scout’s homecoming with us. I hope she gladdens your and Bixby’s heart: not a replacement of Bailey (who cannot be replaced) but a fine successor.

@Butthurt Jordan Trombone (fka XTPD): You posted something yesterday that I at first thought was just weird twitter, and I wrote a good reply. And then I was afraid that what I wrote was just a rephrasing of what you said and my current mental state was making the obvious into a joke, or vice versa.

But Prince Albert really was full of shit.

I have a Scout, too. Great cat, great dog, great name.

When she’s being sweet, she’s addressed as Jean-Louise. When she’s being a little shit, I have been known to sing “Scout, Scout, get the fuck out, you are the cat I can do without, come on, I’m talking to you, come on”.

I know it’s the way of all critters leaving the litter, but I see a bit of grief and solitaryness in Scout’s face as she heads to her forever home, not knowing what lies before her – not knowing that Bixby was waiting for her. And even with the comfort of Bixby, she’s still a sleepy little puppo who misses her momma and littermates. Soon to be forgotten, but still – it’s her first foray into big dog-hood.

@David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch: If someone is making book (literally) off the #Resist sentiment, kind of sorry it’s Michael Wolff, who seems to be a bit of a dick. Although, better him than a Maggie Haberman NYTimes stenographer, or other Villager.

Haven’t gotten through the Wolff excerpts, because it makes me sad that so many would not support a well qualified woman over someone who was notably not fit for the job. At all. Whole thing has been a tragedy. May it destroy the GOP, though, and wake people up about how cracked some of their fellow Americans have become. (I blame Fox News/rightwing fantasy land for a lot of this. May be hard to deprogram.)

Love the puppy’s markings. How old is Scout and how big do you think he will be when full grown?

Five years ago our older dog was very lonesome for her partner who had passed away at 13. We got a puppy a few months later and she was so happy to have a doggy pal again. She took on a protective maternal role, ok, this is my baby, making sure she was between the puppy and any other dogs trying to play with her. Later on when our dogs were at kennel while we were on vacation, the kennel owner, a dog whisperer, told us she had to have a talk with our older dog because she wouldn’t let her pal play with the other dogs there and the talk worked.

@bemused: oh, that sounds like the StellaLuna Chronicles. My big dog Stella was a rescue, and quite clearly saw guarding me as Her Job. Which was cool for a while, but her energies were better expended on Luna Puppy. Stella became her guardian, her auntie, and chew toy. It was a beautiful thing to behold.
