The Department of Justice said on Friday that President Donald Trump did not invite his maligned attorney general to a legislative discussion group at Camp David this weekend.
Asked if Jeff Sessions would be heading to Camp David for the working weekend to talk over 2018 legislative priorities, a justice department spokesperson answered only, “We weren’t invited.”
Trump invited 24 people to a meeting “for a small-group discussion of 2018 legislative priorities,” Buzzfeed News’s Chris Gardner tweeted Friday afternoon.

Went to a really nice airport, had easy entry by polite, nonbarking border types (no customs inspection happened), then was whisked along a great modern road (the construction of which did not profit already exceedingly wealthy people as God has intended), across a modern bridge (where was the profit for some wealthy cretin) and into the old part of Hanoi. I saw people of all ages gathered in front of tiny businesses, bars and restaurants – all operating with the apparent connivance of beetle browned commissars in Mao suits who want to create the illusion of happiness, which, as we know, only happens when hyperbillionaires hire ass wipers. Saw a huge open air nighttime flower market which was packed, and apparently sees its biggest traffic at 3 am every day, as the people here apparently supplement the drabness of soc!alistical life with daily fresh flowers.

I try to keep calm and not give into fear- and/or conspiracy-mongering, but with this crew very little is beyond imagination. To restate the obvious, the Republican leadership meeting with Trump this weekend are criminals . They are conspiring to obstruct justice by stopping or gelding the Mueller investigation of a possible (and I would say certain) crime.
I’m imagining that the scene at Camp David is going to be like something from the last days of Caligula–with senators and congressmen who have been comfortable in the conviction that someone else will stop Trump if necessary being brought face to face with the reality as he offers them “legislative priorities” they want in exchange for making a new horses’s ass into AG.

THE RACHEL MADDOW SHOW 1/5/18 Republicans, compliant FBI make progress undermining Russia probe

They were so desperate to prove that the Black Man in the White House wasn’t all that good, that they turned around and voted in this imbecile, whose every step only accentuates just how fabulous 44 was.
The MSM was desperate because they wanted to paper over their professional malpractice in 2016..but, a) we keep on coming with receipts, b) we have no intention of ‘ turning the page’, and c) their desperation for the ‘pivot’, which would prove that their malpractice wasn’t all that bad.

Gotta agree with raven here. And you as well.
I’d never heard of the kill the captive pilots line though. But that is a bridge way too far. It was a time of taking sides and many of us who served were or became anti war. But that isn’t what we signed up for. There were other paths but the cost of those was high and wouldn’t have changed a thing. All Jane did was show herself to be an idiot and against many who quite possibly might have been on her side. She went too far and it wasn’t difficult to see that even then. And having said that, many in and out of government here were rabid war freaks, with no reason. They were if not worse, as bad as she was, just the other side of the toast. It was and remains a fucked up time in our history, not that we haven’t had a few others of those. Like right now.
@raven: I headed over to Snopes.com, and it confirmed my memory that she just got photographed on an AA gun, they didn’t let her operate it. The bit about executing captured American pilots wasn’t specifically addressed in the Snopes article, but her comments made on North Vietnamese media were asking the pilots to stop bombing, not asking for anyone to do things to them. Sooo…not that what she did over there was any good, but I hate to see complete nonsense being spewed around.

We don’t often watch the news (BBC or other) here, but tonight it came up after a show that we were watching, and it was left on. One of the first things that they ran was the ‘extraordinary’ (and not in a good way, was the impression given) statement given by the orange fart cloud from Camp David, about his genius, intelligence, etc. The takeaway from it, in my opinion, was that they were astonished by the statement, the situation, and as such, felt no need to add any discussion — they showed the clip, said a few words, and let it speak for itself.
Not that it will make any difference to the functioning of the US or its administration, but I would have to say, based on what I saw on the news, that the UK can be counted as not really being willing to give any credence to anything that issues from that ugly gob. There appears to be a feeling here of not much point in news outlets trying to put lipstick on the pig that is the orange fart cloud. Incredulity. Shock. Appalled. Really, what could a news outlet (we were watching BBC) have to add to something like that trainwreck of a statement?
So, that’s my take on what the major news outlet of the UK is thinking about this particular dumpster fire.

@Gvg:
Yeah, as I said I hadn’t heard this before and I’ve been thinking about it. Like you I think if she had said it, it would have been broadcast around the world. But back then I didn’t pay too much attention to Jane. I figured that her heart was in a reasonable place, end the war, but her brain must have fallen about half way down to the ground because she was thinking with her butt. She didn’t win any friends from a lot of people she could have, that’s for sure. And she made a lot of enemies along the way.
It was Archie’s BOSS and his WHITE WIFE that voted for Dolt45.
Nope. I agree with everything else you say about our political situation, the racism in our leadership, etc. But Ethel Bunker didn’t vote for Dump, and Archie did. Archie never had a thought, couldn’t be handed a thought by anyone. In the Bunker househole, the only vote for Dump was Archie, and everyone else voted for Hillary.
Maybe you’re too young to have watched all those old TV shows, but we watched them because it was the best TV available broadcast in our area. No cable or sat dishes back then. We’ve never had cable, by the time it was common in town we had moved so far out into the country there isn’t any offered.
Archie voted for Dump, everyone else voted for Hillary. Trust me on this.

I don’t think they’ll hit Iran or NORK, but a couple of beautiful missiles aimed at Syria to get Van Jones and Brian Willaims too excited to cover the Sessions firing? I can imagine it. Republicans, compliant FBI make progress undermining Russia probe

They were desperate to make it about anything other than race.

It was Archie’s BOSS and his WHITE WIFE that voted for Dolt45.
As I’ve said for awhile..
What burns them is that their vessel for White Supremacy is not just a national, but INTERNATIONAL embarrassment.
What burns them is that non-Whites REFUSE to take any responsibility for this.
AND…that we have ‘ the audacity’, at every turn, to purse our lips and remind THEM that WE didn’t do this.
I’ve said for awhile..

The Michael Wolff tome has savaged Trump and his self-image. Say what you want about Wolff, but what he did was brilliant. He told regime members, including Trump, what they wanted to hear in order to gain access, and then destroyed them. He turned their ridiculous self-regard back on themselves. And he has reduced Trump to doing a pathetic Fredo Corleone impersonation on Twitter do defend his nous. As we all know, his claim to fame was his alpha-male image. Nothing punctures that more than pathetic whining.

Ruckus
@Gvg:
