It appears the only way to make the calendar is to take orders in advance and then print them and ship them, so I need to know how many calendars to order. If you intend to purchase a calendar, please state the number you want in the comments. It will be around the 20 dollar range (give or take a few), plus shipping.

Also, for those of you who expressed interest in adopting Yuki, here is the link to the application. Make sure you mention her name.

    Are there records for previous years? Should be fairly simple to look at fulfilled orders over the past however-many-years-this-has-been-going-on and extrapolate from those numbers to arrive at a reasonable figure for 2018.

    OK, it’s not calendar-related. I will send $20 to the rescue center, but I never use paper calendars and it would just sit on the shelf.

    I am on another “maybe I’ll get a dog kick,” and I know John’s sister would consider me too far away, but I have some candidates I am thinking of looking into:

    Reggie, who is a ridiculously cute mix of shetland sheep dog and papillon

    Cason, who reminds me of Walter and has both a beautiful smile and such a sad story of living on the street with a homeless person

    Iggy, an Italian greyhound who has one blue eye and one brown

    @Mary G: personally, I think Reggie has that naughty look of a dog who is going to be a handful. I would go with Cason because Iggy is 8 yrs old and you may get less time with him compared to Cason.

    I just ran an experiment with latkes that is amazingly delicious and would get me drummed out of the family.

    I also don’t use paper calendars, but I could kick in to the shelter.

    @Mike J: Major deviation: instead of using flour or matzoh meal, I used potato starch. It keeps the edges nice and crispy and gives the interior part a nice chew almost like a rice cake.

    It’s also gluten free and kosher. I should kick this over to TaMara!

    EDIT: I also used half purple potatoes, which didn’t do as much for the appearance as I had hoped.

    @Big R: Potato starch was the only change I made. Otherwise it was the standard potato, onion, and egg, Simple Jewish cooking with a slight Asian inspired twist!

    @Yutsano: We can discuss details of the Balloon Cruise at that time. I think it’s better if we just pick a date several months off and tell people to reserve it now. Overnight camping trip to Blake Island, which you can only get to on tour boat or private boat. At least four people at the last meet said they were up for it, and I’ll provide the (club’s) boat if people will sign up for figuring out food and stuff.

    I just grate potatoes and onions, a little salt and pepper, fry, usually in bacon fat, but olive oil works too. Or Safflower oil if you want to fry hotter.

    I never saw the need for eggs or flour. Potatoes have plenty of starch and stick together fine. Then when eating them I use Sirriacha sauce, sorry about the speling, it’s late.

    I am willing to pre-pay, and wait the 4-6 weeks for delivery. Can you set up something like that on the Feed page? There is going to be some Tunch in this calendar, I assume? Otherwise I will demand my money back!

    @SectionH: Nah, I don’t think more than 7 or 8 will actually want to spend a night when we get 12-15 for a beer based meetup. It’s a Catalina 27 (the boat we’re turning around here) and if we’re full people can sleep ashore as well as aboard.
