Fox News Plans a Streaming Service for ‘Superfans’. @grynbaum reports https://t.co/mMDl8Pozct

Can Trump insist that every WiFi-enabled device in the White House pay for a sub on the government’s dime?
Fox's coveted 70+ demo doesn't watch streaming so this will either collapse in a month or become a complete racist gam3r platform. Most likely latter. https://t.co/80fEukfidj

On the other hand, there’s one WH occupant who’s apparently about to have lots of free time to stream:
"No decision within the memo will impact anything Jared Kushner is working on," Sanders says of policy announced Friday, which would take away Kushner's interim top-secret security clearance. Declines comment on Kushner's clearance itself. Backstory here. https://t.co/ZktfQXPF3Z

Kushner and I had the same title and he sits in my old office. There are only three options:
1. Sanders is lying
2. Kelly is lying and Kushner is keeping his interim clearance
3. Kushner’s new portfolio includes staring at the wall from 9-5 https://t.co/f7hxaSan4v— Dan Pfeiffer (@danpfeiffer) February 20, 2018
Given Kushner’s debts, maybe he can set up a YouTube channel with his reactions live from the West Wing — I hear that’s a cutting-edge monetization platform these days…

Sorta stepped on Doug’s post. This one is really pretty horrifying, though – particularly the section on Kushner continuing to work without a clearance.

I am beginning to think Dolt45 is a big fat asshole but the ones who are making him dangerous are Kushner, Junior and Kelly. There was a blurb somewhere that said the sons were convincing him that the AR 15 should be kept legal while he was watching the student shooting survivors. Kushner pushed for the Comey firing. God knows what IvanKas done.

So apparently the new plan at work is to rebuild our main education platform by June, in a new language, with new third-party services, so, yay.

Kelly is lying. I think Ivanka is the only person Trump cares about, and Kushner is his only real friend, someone who truly meets him on his intellectual level. Trump will insist Kushner see classified everything until the end of his presidency. Besides, Kushner is in charge of foreign bribes.

The whole plot point about him stealing Vibranium goes back to Age of Ultron (as did his losing his arm), so he really had to repeat the role. And once his role was over, they didn’t keep him around just to have a white face on the screen. Freeman seemed to be there just to make sure they had one non-evil white guy, and there was no real reason they had to take him back to Wakanda except to ensure there was a white guy around.

@Roger Moore: Freeman’s character is a very significant part of Black Panther lore, especially the Christopher Priest run of the title (from which the film draws significant inspiration).
SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT FORWARD!!!
He was the one character in the film to believe the image that Wakanda had been projecting to the rest of the world. Which basically meant he represented the entire non-Wakandan population of the world, so seeing him go from ignorance to skepticism to awestruck belief was a microcosm of how the rest of the world will react once Wakanda reveals itself. So, no, I don’t think he was a token, but an integral part of the story’s structure.
More specifically, as an American agent, he showed how the US will often charge in thinking its in control, but without a full picture of what’s going on. But will (eventually, hopefully) end up doing the right thing.

@Roger Moore: Definitely agreed that it was more Shakespeare in general then Macbeth specifically. However there was another part that really bugs me and it was the way in which the one tribal leader (the guy with the Rhinoceros) switched allegiance so quickly when before he didn’t want to have anything to do with helping the outside world. But as soon as he got Claue’s body he was all “yeah let’s go save colored people of the world” and turned against his King. Did not seem too easy to you?

Well, “better” is somewhat ambiguous. The movie made Ross a lot more competent and understanding than comics Ross. But comic Ross was so out of his depth, and ignorant, and incompetent, that he was a hoot to read about. Made for a fun foil for the ultra serious and competent T’Challa.
I read the Priest run when it came out (and even had some interactions with Priest on the old Usenet forums). It was truly a groundbreaking run of comics that redefined the Black Panther character and the nation of Wakanda. The movie would not have happened without Christopher Priest’s work. So, yeah, I think Ross was in there as an homage to Priest’s work.

@Mnemosyne: Last Monday was an ugly day. They fired her over the phone and didn’t immediately have someone take possession of her computer, phone, and can and then escort her out. She sat around the office from 11:30 ’til 5:00 and just raged.
The new boss made her first appearance today. She is perky and cheerful. Former boss knew her stuff but was very passive aggressive.

If I recall correctly, the fishing buddy was Smeagol’s cousin Deagol. The role of Smeagol/Gollum, among others, has made Andy Serkis the dean of motion-capture acting: he also starred as Peter Jackson’s King Kong and was Caesar in the recent Planet of The Apes movies.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist: I think I caught most of it in background. Didn’t catch any girlfriend questions. Dolt45 was doing some award thing for first responders in the PM and Huckster was late, very possibly because she was trying to shorten the briefing so that she could stop when Dolt’s award thing started. I am wondering how much longer she’s going to last. I am pretty sure they has Raj Shah on during the Porter scandal because she refused to go out.

@WaterGirl: Ya know to be quite honest, neither have I, but I rarely read a book in preperation for a movie I really want to see, I mostly look for cliff notes to give me a leg up on the plot points…as long as the movie, at the very least, makes an effort to appeal to a non-book person like me…I’m good.
I’ve seen more movies based on Stephen King’s books, than the number of King’s book that I have actually read (I think I’m at 2?)

Personally, I wouldn’t. I’m almost always disappointed if I read the book right before I see the movie, because the movie is not what I imagined when I read the book. It’s usually easier for me to enjoy the movie as a movie and the book as a book if I see the movie first.
YMMV, and all that, of course.

@WaterGirl: I had a boss, years ago, who was fired by voice mail. They just left a voice mail telling her that her services were no longer needed. They couldn’t even leave a message for her to call back. I also worked at a place where the boss was fired when she got to her office and escorted out by security like she was some criminal. Ugh. There really should be a better way of firing somebody. Like taking them out for lunch and doing it there.

I have trouble squaring this, and some of the other reactions here, with what I see during the press briefings. Yeah. Macbeth does not fit. It’s still a stretch, but more Henry V in the sense that Black Panther has to decide what kind of king he should be. Michael B Jordan is somewhat like Laertes in Hamlet in that he does have a legitimate reason for his grievances. Shuri is legitimate comic relief, another Shakespeare touch.

No Windows version before Windows 2000 even attempted to be an operating system;
for example, no actual security was possible in any Windows 98 version.
Windows NT was their first shot at an actual OS; it was almost unusable.
Windows 2000 was their next shot; it was almost usable, but clunky and very slow on available hardware.
Windows XP was an actual, useable operating system, the first they ever shipped.

We as taxpayers pay for her to lie to us!
It’s pretty annoying. (Read a “transcript” of her press conference today. Is there an independent source for Trump-White-House-related transcripts now that the “official transcripts” are edited for political effect? (Daily Mail claims that White House corrects official transcript that left out Trump saying he would agree to a ‘clean’ DACA bill without his border wall – but they made the same omission as MSNBC. Whatever; at best, the white house stenographer was editing the closed-caption feed, which is pretty shoddy.)

I’m just reading the morning paper, finally, and noticed an article about Little Rhody (LA Times, A-12). Seems there’s been a sex scandal in the RI state senate, and a male senator has been arrested for extortion. But not for extorting money — for extorting sex from a page.
Oh, and the senator was from the family values party and the page was also a male. Weird and unexpected, huh?

@Omnes Omnibus: Thumbs up, says I, as I sit here with my Third Coast Ale from Bell’s in Kalamazoo, most decidedly NOT near the Gulf of Mexico. Everyone knows the Great Lakes region, and Chicago in particular, are referred to as the Third Coast more because they’re “coastal” in their relative cultural and political likenesses to the blue state enclaves on the salty East and West coasts, not because of the actual lakes.
Related note, I love those stickers I’ve been seeing on people’s cars lately that say “Great Lakes: Unsalted. Shark free.”
