Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Usually wrong but never in doubt

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

The lights are all blinking red.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

The words do not have to be perfect.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

the 10% who apparently lack object permanence

President Musk and Trump are both poorly raised, coddled 8 year old boys.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

When we show up, we win.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

This really is a full service blog.

We still have time to mess this up!

Claudia Tenney (R-NY) is a worthless piece of shit:

“It’s interesting that so many of these people that commit the mass murders end up being Democrats, but the media doesn’t talk about that either.”

The Parkland shooter was photographed taped doing target practice in a MAGA cap, by the way.

Lets send Claudia Tenney packing in November. Donate here to the eventual Democratic nominee in her district (NY-22):

That part of the state should be called “Seething Resentment.”

Note: I taught at SUNY Cortland for a couple years…

Ballotpedia has identified this district, which Tenney won by 6 points, as a race to watch in 2018. In the 2012 presidential election, Mitt Romney (R) won by less than one percentage point, while Donald Trump claimed victory with a 16-point margin.[4] The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also included the district in its list of targets for 2018.[5] Ballotpedia is currently tracking 15 races to watch for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018, although this list is likely to evolve as election day approaches.
Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi (D), who carried the district by 6 points in a November 2017 Public Policy Polling survey, had the fundraising advantage in the third quarter of 2017. He raised $413,000 to Tenney’s $213,000.[6][7]
New York’s 22nd Congressional District is located in the central portion of the state and includes Chenango, Cortland, Madison and Oneida counties and parts of Broome, Herkimer, Tioga and Oswego counties.[8]

@BGinCHI: that swing to trump from Romney +1… Seething Resentment indeed. OTOH, Tenney trailed him by 10. Kinda the reverse of the national pattern.

An Associated Press photographer captured the crib notes Trump was holding during a listening session with students and parents affected by school shootings

From the photograph, it appears there were at least five points, including:

1.) “What would you most want me to know about your experience?”

2.) “What can we do to help you feel safe?”

3.) “Do you see [unclear] something effective?”

    4.) “Resources? Ideas?”

    “5.) I hear you.”

Some of these here Republicans may need to move to higher ground, because there’s a wave coming:

The 3,800 in-person votes cast by Democrats Tuesday represents a 300-percent increase as compared to the first day of early voting in 2014. In-person Republican votes were also up about 25 percent.w/ @GabMoBanks https://t.co/JnDo9EnCAi— Robert Downen (@RobDownenChron) February 21, 2018

Ted Cruz may need to send his wife back to work at Goldman-Sachs and polish up his resume.

And yes, I know this is wildly optimistic and Texas has broken many a Democratic’s heart, but something’s happening here.

    @satby:

most mass shootings and generic murders are done by liberals

    The “thought” process is:
Most murders are committed by Blacks and Hispanics.
Most Blacks and Hispanics are liberals.
Therefore, most murders are committed by liberals.

I’m pretty sure most people can immediately spot the problem with the premise here.

this is wildly optimistic and Texas has broken many a Democratic’s heart, but something’s happening here.

I think people are finding their strength…finding it in numbers we’ve been told to believe aren’t really out there.

And the GOP is banging on too many institutions, norms, things that actually help the majority of our citizens. Their leaders let Trumpov (and each other) get away with it, but the more they serve the 1% at everyone else’s expense, the more obvious it is. And the madder the center-left and center-center get, the more they organize, and turn out.

Speaking of Puerto Rico, really depressing today to read that the suicide rate is way up in Puerto Rico. That’s okay, though, because they are brown and shouldn’t even be considered citizens, really. – Trump (not me)

I think the list I saw goes all the way back to Democrat Wilkes Boothe. No shit.

It is one of those shitty forward email type of lists that creepily conflates Democrats from the 1800’s to Democrats of today and also conflates various anarchists and left wing extremists to liberals.
