Trump rips Fla. Deputies for not going into school. "I really believe I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon."

As if that craven shit-bag wouldn’t have trampled daycare toddlers and used kindergartners as human shields to save his own precious orange hide. Is it too much to hope that cops and boosters who were allegedly thrilled to have a president who “respects the badge” will notice that Trump throws cops under the bus the minute it becomes convenient for him? Probably.

Every member of law enforcement in this situation would instinctively know that nothing they do could “save the day” or even any additional lives because they were totally outgunned. As we have all seen only too often over the last few years, no one is selecting police officers on their willingness to take a risk to life and limb. They did what they could in this case means they couldn’t do anything because no one could under the circumstances unless or until, if he had kept shooting, a tactical SWAT team with full body armor arrived, which is basically what happened in Las Vegas, and that guy was stationary, not moving around. But I am perfectly happy to let Trump or any other Republican politician throw law enforcement under the bus. See how they like it.

Why is Ivanka Trump engaging in international diplomacy?
02/26/18 09:30 AM
By Steve Benen
Not long after the 2016 election, CBS News’ Leslie Stahl noted to Ivanka Trump that there were widely held assumptions that she would soon have a role in her father’s administration. “No,” she replied. “I’m going to be a daughter.”
It was a commitment she quickly abandoned. Ivanka Trump soon had a West Wing office, a staff, a policy portfolio, and a presence on the international stage.
Trump World continues to push this envelope. On Friday, Donald Trump announced new sanctions on North Korea, and soon after, the Wall Street Journal had this report:
…………………
And yet, according to the Trump administration, Ivanka Trump reportedly briefed South Korean leaders on the new U.S. sanctions on North Korea. When Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin was asked if the president’s daughter had the necessary security clearance for such a briefing, he replied, “She has the appropriate access to brief the president.”
The difference between “access” and “clearance” matters. Indeed, Ivanka Trump is one of several people in the president’s orbit who has not yet obtained a permanent security clearance.

Trump describes investigation into Russia scandal as ‘illegal’
02/26/18 10:00 AM
By Steve Benen
Donald Trump’s willingness to play make-believe extends to pretending to be a legal expert who’s uncovered evidence of all kinds of crimes.
On Saturday, for example, the confused president, pointing to a memo prepared by Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, argued that the Justice Department and intelligence agencies did “terrible things” that were “so illegal.” The Democratic document actually proved the opposite.
Soon after, he called into a Fox News program to argue that Hillary Clinton’s campaign was guilty of unspecified crimes, worthy of investigation. The president’s eagerness to lobby the Justice Department to probe his political adversaries continues to be unhealthy.
But perhaps most importantly, Trump published a tweet about an entirely new criminal allegation:
Trump was referring to the investigation into the Russia scandal, which isn’t a witch hunt, illegal, or disgraceful.

Iowa Republican faces a doozy of an ethics mess
02/26/18 11:00 AM
By Steve Benen
At first blush, it sounded like a rather mundane controversy. Rep. Rod Blum (R-Iowa), a top target for Democrats in this year’s midterms, reportedly violated House ethics rules by “failing to disclose his role in a company that he formed.”
Given the scope of some of the recent political scandals we’ve seen, Blum’s disclosure issue seemed easy to overlook. But the Associated Press had a longer report on the Iowa Republican’s “mysterious outfit,” which suggests this story is a lot more interesting than first assumed.
So, while serving in Congress, Rod Blum helped create a sketchy-looking company intended to help those who are accused of violating FDA standards. The GOP congressman, who was featured on the company’s website in a photo featuring his congressional members’ pin, was required to disclose his role in the business, but didn’t. What’s more, as the Associated Press’ report noted, the business is based in the same Iowa office as a construction software company Blum also owns.
The congressman called the disclosure failure an “administrative oversight,” which isn’t exactly a compelling defense.

That’s what makes the statement true in his mind; he really does believe it.
We know he wouldn’t, not in a million years; and everyone else pretty much knows he wouldn’t, and that is it hyperbole of the worst sort; but the nub is that he BELIEVES he would do so.

So there’s a weird wrinkle showing up in the threat investigations here. There’s been a kind of trend towards high school kids trending slightly older than they were. Some of this is public pre-k. They can assess them earlier and sometimes recognize they shouldn’t be promoted so they get an “extra” year sometime between pre-k and kindergarten.
But what that means is they are adults and if they make a threat, even a stupid threat that is clearly a (bad) joke they can be charged with a second degree felony in Ohio and they are being charged with that.
So the US gun fetish claims another set of young victims, who will now be doing 2 to 8 in prison for a stupid joke. Ripples. It ripples. It’s ALL bad.

I don’t think that is the case. The truth is that none of us know what we would have done. After a tragedy or an emergency we don’t get to read interviews from those who did nothing, but we do hear from the heroes, and a couple of themes emerge:
– They say that they just reacted immediately, and didn’t even think about the risk.
– They frequently claim that they do not consider themselves brave at all, and were surprised by what they did.
Even allowing for some modesty when being interviewed, it seems pretty likely that none of us know what we might do when confronted with a dangerous situation.

@Corner Stone: Have to say this is some pretty epic dragging. I think you should tweet it out to Twitler.

@LAO: To be fair, Mark Hamill has a better chance to win an Oscar.
Waynski
@Humdog:
Wait, I thought he LIKES being peed on. Sorry if someone beat me to it.
Miss Bianca
@schrodingers_cat: Damn, that’s hard-core. What movie is that from?
Now I’m going to have fantasies of black-hijab-wearing feminist guerilla armies taking down my enemies because seriously, HOW COOL IS THAT? Super cool.

Is it easier for Donnie DumbDumb’s supporters to believe his lies because they spent so many years forcing their minds to believe the lies against B. Clinton and then Pres. Obama? DDD has dementia and delusions but for about 35 +/- 3% of this nation to take it as gospel is so ludicrous.
The man is scared of dogs, he freaked out and pissed himself when someone rushed the podium and probably did it again when an eagle flapped it’s wings.
I know what the relatives say and it is the reason my 11yo isn’t allowed around a solid 80% of them. They will believe he would sacrifice himself for children in a school shooters iron sites.

@LAO:
I like Captain Bonespurs better than Cadet Bonespurs.
The Moar You Know
@Kay: It’s not a joke. You know it, I know it, they know it. They just think they’re immune from consequences.
One of my wife’s Big Red Flags with new students is anyone a year older than they should be for the grade. At best, they will be disruptive. One of that crew tried to burn down the classroom with my wife and all the other students in it a few years back. Shame he wasn’t a year older than he was at the time, the district could have gotten him into grownup prison right then.

@Corner Stone:
They should be charged with terrorism first thing. Terroristic threats is probably a felony.
And how stupid to think that cut-n-paste would be a foolproof way of avoiding responsibility!!!
I'll be Frank
@zhena gogolia: Those of us who achieved the rank of Captain would prefer that you stick with Cadet.

Pretty good clip.

And had a Big Mac meal or a KFC bucket waiting for him.

@Miss Bianca: Its from a 2018 movie called Tiger Zinda Hai, Tiger is Alive. Katrina Kaif rocks, she is lithe and athletic, also a great dancer. From the IMDB description, its loosely based on a real life incident of ISIS taking hostage a group of Indian and Pakistani nurses in I believe Iraq.
The lyrics are pretty awesome too and I love Jyoti Nooran’s strong voice.
One example
Zinda Jasbat nahin
Haq me halat nahin
Manoongi nah har me
Mujhe fateh ka fitorr
Rough Translation:
My emotions are dead
Circumstances are beyond my control
But I won’t accept defeat
Even if its seems crazy, I will fight till I succeed

@schrodingers_cat: I wonder if I can possibly find it thru’ the library system, if/when it gets released on DVD. (yeah, I’m old-school with home movie-watching technology).
@J R in WV: Don’t you mean, “magazine”? (ducking and covering)
schrodingers_cat
@Miss Bianca: You might actually. My local library system has a good selection of Hindi movies. The best part, she doesn’t break gaze when the old lecherous man leers at her. The knife to the neck was awesome!

Yes, of course you would Donald. You are the strong powerful he-man that other men fear and worship, and all women lust after. I think I am going to puke.
How on earth did a maladjusted eleven year old boy get elected President of the US? Sickening.

Cadet bone spurs is full of shit. No way that guy can run and we all know he does not have the selfless character of someone who would run toward danger. More BS!
Feebog
All he would have to do is run into the hallway, turn around, and let his ginormous ass provide cover.

@rikyrah: I live in this smarmy little shitweasel’s district. I vowed long ago to do anything I could to stop him from being re-elected … but it looks like he’s doing a pretty good job of it himself..
