Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The willow is too close to the house.

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

This is dead girl, live boy, a goat, two wetsuits and a dildo territory.  oh, and pink furry handcuffs.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

So very ready.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

How stupid are these people?

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

Or woman…

All of this is a facade intended to make it look like Russia has a functioning democratic system. Vladimir Putin will, of course, easily win another term essentially making him the Russian president for (the rest of his) life.

Stay frosty!

How amusing that Gen Barry McCaffery has to say about Trump being a National Security Threat is cut short by a firing of Mccabe.

@NotMax: McCabe will be fine. My question is what this will mean if McCabe is called to corroborate Comey’s testimony in the Mueller probe. As far as I can tell, the Trumpov team is working full-time to impugn the integrity of anyone who might testify against Trump. They just got another scalp.

Trump does his best cogitating while sitting on the toilet.

I was no fan of Rex Tillerson, but for John Kelly to leak the story that Tillerson was on the toilet when he got fired was a real scumbag move. I hope Trump is on the toilet when Mueller indicts him.

It appears from the FTFNYT twitter that he says it’s in order to help Trump with Russiagate:

NEW: McCabe fired: “The idea that I was dishonest is just wrong. This is part of an effort to discredit me as a witness” in Mueller investigation t.co/VfetXJLgTD— Amy Fiscus (@amyfiscus) March 17, 2018

I imagine he’ll end up with his pension and they know it; they’re flinging poo for the chimps who watch Fox News.

    March 16, 2018 at 10:17 pm

@efgoldman: I meant scalp in the sense that McCabe will no longer be a credible witness in the Mueller probe. Comey told 4 people about his conversations with the President. The Trump team is trying to discredit each and every one. McCabe himself just made a statement that the purpose of his firing is to discredit him as a witness. He gets it. Hopefully the media will soon too.

He wouldn’t be anyway, to the mouth breathers.
Somehow I think Mueller and his team of experienced prosecutors will know what questions to ask. He only has to be credible to judge(s) and jury(s). They know how to build a case, McCabe is a sideshow.

    March 16, 2018 at 10:27 pm

@Major Major Major Major: He’s now been fired on the recommendation of IG Michael Horowitz on the grounds that he was less than candid in his interview. This can be used in court to raise questions about the truthfulness of any testimony he would give. I’m convinced this is why he’s been targeted while still in the employ of the FBI.

  37. 37.

    tobie

    March 16, 2018 at 10:31 pm

@efgoldman: I’m not so sure of this. In court he would have to admit he was fired and confirm the stated reason, even if he disagreed with it.

I have no doubt that Mueller has other evidence besides the testimony of McCabe. I’m just trying to game out what the strategy of Trump’s legal team is. As far as I can tell, it’s to call into question anyone who would offer testimony against Trump & Company.

Sessions saying that McCabe “lacked candor—including under oath—on multiple occasions” is rich coming from Mr. “I lied to Congress.”

Notta sideshow, more trial-balloon as canary-inna-coal-mine, imo.

It’s like that cartoon picture Sin City where the senator is bedside expounding on how if you can get chickenshits to cowardly proclaim what they know ain’t true to be so, that’sa testament a power.

If McCabe’s firing is “both-sidesed” to hell’n gone, reckon we’ll all have a purty clear pitcher of just how fucked we are n how far yet we gotta go.
