Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

How stupid are these people?

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

WOW? – No fear from “Mr. Duck” ?when District 3 Deputies assisted a licensed trapper with a 9’ gator removal from a residence within the Eagle’s community on Muirfield Drive? pic.twitter.com/tiVPn7WYH3

— HCSO (@HCSOSheriff) April 19, 2018

From WSVN Channel 7:

ODESSA, Fla. (WSVN) — This is one alligator that really didn’t want to get out of the pool.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said the 9-foot gator threw a bit of a temper tantrum as a trapper and deputies worked to capture the reptile on Thursday.

The alligator had somehow made its way into the homeowner’s screened-in patio in Odessa, about 25 miles north of Tampa.

The animal was safely removed from the water.

Anyone who spots an alligator should call local law enforcement or the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in order to have it safely captured.

Stay scaly and remember to run in a serpentine or not!

@Adam L Silverman: People often confuse alligators and crocodiles. Some people are overly pedantic about magazines and clips. It was a joke that took one from each column.

@Adam L Silverman: Is this a good place to mention that a superhot goalie can frustrate the ever loving fuck out of a superior team and steal a series?
Toronto’s Anderson has been otherworldly. They forced a game seven vs the Bruins they have no business playing.

@efgoldman: Yes, yes it is. You almost saw it with Hammond for Colorado. And it was a major worry in regard to Schneider in New Jersey. It also shows you just how skilled even the back up goalies with the terrible records, such as Hammond and Schneider, are.

As a Lightning fan I’m happy the Bruins and Leafs are going to seven games. I want whoever wins to come out tired and beat up.

In my experience alligators run from you. Still, knowing they are afraid of you doesn’t help when you wade up on one not noticing and they splash around running/swimming away! #stainedwaders

Speaking of Guadalcanal: The WW2 U.S. Marine Eugene Sledge wrote about alligators in the aftermath of the first major action against Japanese troops on Guadalcanal. He told how he swam across the river which had separated the Marines from that enemy attack of the night before. The Japanese had been had been slaughtered, and Sledge’s curiosity had got the best of him. But once across the sight revolted him, and he quickly swam back. Near dusk an alarm went up that objects could be seen in the water approaching Marine lines from upriver. They were the island’s gators, in fact, huge suckers of whose existence Sledge had been unaware when he’d made his swim earlier in the day. That nigh, and for nights afterward, as he manned his foxhole, Sledge could hear them munching away on the Japanese soldiers, until those soldiers were all gone.

The Broons played Tampa tough in the regular season, when it really didn’t matter. I don’t think either team takes the lightning out.

@trollhattan: Too damned big for a snake of any variety. I’ll stick with the little green garter snakes in my garden, although one of them is not so small these days. Must be doing ok with all of the mice in our yard.

do they really need to caution people to call in professionals to remove a nine foot gator? granted Florida, but sheesh!
