A plea from commentor Dog Mom:
I work in IT (specifically data), though currently laid off and have been job hunting…
My skills fit some jobs at the DNC. I have not worked in politics before and want to talk to some people who have, to get some background and a better idea what to expect from the hiring / interview process.
Would you put out a request asking for someone who has some experience and would be willing to trade emails or chat with me?
If you can help, send me an email — annelaurie [dot] bj [at] gmail [dot] com — and I’ll link you up.

do you speak Russian? (too soon?)
The Moar You Know
I can’t imagine that it’s going to be any different from any bog-standard IT interview. Politics won’t have anything to do with it. If they’re smart they’d do a full background (including social media check) to make sure you’re not a Russian mole, but from what I’ve seen so far they probably don’t.
I would also expect budgets to be much smaller than what you’re used to, and tools to be somewhat out of date. Hopefully I’m wrong about that. This election, man, they’d better spend what it takes on security.

DOO EET!!! You might even be able to give recommendations as far as how to improve the tech and the security systems the DNC have now. And if it pays the bills all the better.

While I worked for giant IT company I was on a few government, not political party contracts. I was one of the screening interviewers for our silo. It’s been a few years, but if I can help contact me at my Etsy shop.

Rooting for you, as well! Wish I had contacts to share.
