I have nothing to say but I just wanted to share this picture of Sam, who just looks amazing with her summer cut:

She’s a morkie, but she thinks she is a rottweiler. Her tongue is hanging out because if you remember, she had some horrible disease with her teeth so she had every single one pulled, and now her tongue just flops around, but I think it just makes her cuter. She’s pretty awesome.

    I am afraid we are being swarmed by what looks like winged termites. I pay a company every year for insurance and maintenance, but I have horrible memories of many tentings and hope it won’t be necessary this time. Cats hate travel and my current two probably more than the first two I’ve had.

    Samantha looks very stylish in her cut, and her tongue is jaunty.

    I’ve noticed that the new term for mixed breed dogs is “all-American”. That’s what the AKC calls the mixed breed dogs that can now do agility at AKC sponsored trials. I think it’s nice they’re not confining the competition to pure-bred dogs, but if the mixes are all-American, what is my registered dog?

    No, but people are gonna ask ‘What *is* your dog?’ anyways, and knowing some breed background can be useful for health issues as well as general temperament.

    Look at it this way: If ‘morkie’ is an insult, than so is ‘Irish-American’. And we Irish-Americans will fight you on that!

    Since his persistent skin issues have taken a turn for the worse recently, our 16-year-old rescue papillon Zevon just got his first ‘summer cut’ like Sam’s… the groomer misunderstood us, and even trimmed off his lovely plumy tail. Zeev came to live with us when he was 5, and he’s always had a luxuriant pelt with tons of undercoat; with his new ‘puppy cut’, suddenly he looks like a puppy, because he’s a lot leggier than we suspected! (Also, he’s slightly fiddle-fronted, but that’s probably just his age showing.)

    Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said months of intense negotiations between his country, the United States and Mexico imploded Tuesday when Vice President Pence demanded that any deal expire automatically in five years.

    Trudeau said he was prepared to travel to Washington this week to try to finalize a rework of the North American Free Trade Agreement, but Pence, in the phone call, said a meeting would occur only if the “sunset” provision was agreed to in advance.

    Twitler and Peter Navarro are bad enough, but Pence is a disaster. I’m sure he was sending Justin his stern/constipated look through the phone.

    And you sure can’t go by what the shelter tells you! One thing I’ve noticed is that they always proclaim the pups to be a ‘mix’ of the smallest breed they think they can get away with – I guess they figure that makes them more adoptable. Friend of mine adopted a ‘beagle mix’ from a rescue group, and was surprised when the pup grew… and grew… and grew. She did the DNA thing and that dog didn’t have a drop of beagle in her. I think predominantly English foxhound and some largish terrier breed.

    One thing about purebred dogs, you have a pretty fair notion what the puppy will look like when it grows up and how big it’s going to get.
