Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

DeSantis transforms Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

In after Baud. Damn.

No Justins, No Peace

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Republicans don’t trust women.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

White supremacy is terrorism.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

July Denver Meet-Up

Bonus dog pics – Bixby turned 4 last week and Scout, 7 months. As you can see the celebration was laid-back.

Mnemosyne will be in Denver in July and suggested a meet-up on Tuesday 7/17. It would need to be early evening/evening, as she flies in that afternoon. We’ll need to meet near the Sheraton Denver Downtown, which I believe is right near the 16th Street Mall.

Who is up for a meet-up? We’ll need suggestions for a place to meet near the hotel and a volunteer to coordinate with the location.

I’ll repost this the first week of July with an update of numbers. I’ll be out of town from July 1 to just before the meet-up, so I’ll have limited availability for more than that, but I think as long as someone secures the venue, we should good.

I had hoped that our next meet-up I’d bring Bixby and Scout, but even as friendly as most locations are to dogs on the patio, the 16th Street Mall might be a bit too much for me to wrangle them. We will see how that goes. I would very much like for you guys to meet them sometime.

Hit the comments with your availability and location ideas.

This is something we should do. My bride is not a reader of this site (insofar as I know) but is the more politically-active of us.

I’m up for it! Poking around a bit on line, there’s Maggiano’s Little Italy (500 16th St.), the Rialto Cafe (934 16th St), Larkburger (1617 California, 1/2 block from 16th), and lots of others. I’ve been to the Rialto and Larkburger (although not that particular Larkburger), and I understand Maggiano’s is a Denver standby.

Nice of you guys to hold a birthday party for me in Colorado, which is well out of my way. Pout.

Thanks, Tamara! I still have a busted ACL, so the chosen place should either be close by or an easy taxi ride.

@Mnemosyne: There is a trolley that runs up and down the 16th Street Mall that should help you in your travels while you’re here. Also, there are Peddle Hoppers that are fun.

Have a good meetup, you lucky ones.

You might not all fit in the Cruise Room, but it ought to be fun to try. There’s also the Governor’s old brewpub, Wyncoop. Plenty of room there.

There’s an outside chance I could drive up and combine the trip with a visit to my sisters. Would be fun to see all of you!

There’s plenty of independent places around (i.e. no need to chain it up at Maggiano’s). Wynkoop Brewery would be a solid choice, as would Falling Rock. Or if we wanted to stay right on the 16th Street Mall (free shuttle between Union Station and Civic Center), I’m a fan of P.S. 303 next to the Museum of Contemporary Art.

    Denver was/is a bastion of Bernie support. A meet-up because of a Bernie-hater?

I would like to be there! Planning on it!

@Amir Khalid: Amir, I’d say that we’d toast you on your birthday, but perhaps, considering, we should toast you with coffee drinks? ; )

@Amir Khalid: You should definitely be a surprise guest.

I will try to make this, but I have to pay the parking ticket that I got in Denver yesterday.

Psych1, you are right. we can talk about which Bernie supporting candidates we are voting against.

I’d love to come and meet new BJ’ers. I work downtown, so it’s easy for me, but earlier the better as I have rehearsal that night. I like the places IHF recommends – would Mnemosyne be coming in from the airport on the train? That would make the lodo areas more convenient.

Will plan on coming to the meet up. I have been called (potentially) for jury duty on that day, but maybe won’t have to go.

Should have said – there are a lot of cool places near Union Station, if that is a good destination for everybody. I have only been to Zoe Ma Ma, which I like a lot, but it may not be convenient for a big group. TaMara, if you’d like me to go check out a few for logistics, let me know.
