We’ll start with Andy Kim, running in NJ-03. Reader gene108 writes:

Tom MacArthur is a former insurance executive, who was elected in 2014, when the seat was open upon the retirement of Jon Runyan (former Eagle’s RT). He spent $5 million of his own money in 2014 to win the seat.

Anyway, MacArthur is now most famous for the “MacArthur Amendment”, which helped settle Republican disputes over repealing the ACA and helped get their bill passed in the House. He is also the ONLY member of the NJ delegation to vote in favor of the rich fuckwads tax bill (there are 5 Republicans in the NJ House delegation).

The district went for Trump 51% to 45% for Clinton. This is the sort of seat we need to win to take back the House. Leans Republican enough that it should be a safe seat, but can be flipped in a blue wave.

    Somebody (Monmouth? Not sure, but they’re local) did a poll right after the NJ primaries and the Dems led for all of the Republican-held seats, including the normally deep-red one in South Jersey. (Of course, the Republicans nominated a complete troll for that one, to replace the relatively moderate guy who was retiring, but still.)

    Don’t overlook Lauren Underwood, the Democratic nominee in Illinois 14 against incumbent GOP Rep. Randy Hultgren, a 96 percent Trump supporter in a diverse suburban district that Trump carried by only four points in 2016.

    I hate not being able to edit. The YouGov poll showed a slight R lean in the generic ballot from yesterday but the Iposos poll, which polled registered voters, showed a better lead, 41% to 38%. The YouGov poll only sampled adults.

    1) Fuck polls. Way too many of them are like Gallup which has been a tool of the Rses for decades. And then – watch them! – 2-3 maybe 4 weeks before election day, their numbers change so the MSM won’t have big questions. Likely voter? 6 ways to define That before breakfast. I could go on…

    2) More on topic, I told all the bundled via ActBlue stuff to fuck off today, and I gave them a comment which amounted too, my resources are limited, I’m not a billionaire, ENOUGH.

    2b) I kind of – no, fuck it – I Do resent getting urgent begs from people I’ve never heard of. Oh SectionH, as one of supporters we need your dough now! – STOP IT.

    Not all candidates do this stuff, but damn. I got 79 begging emails between last night and this morning – it’s just exploded. And not a single on anywhere near me or that I’d ever heard of. Sorry if I don’t keep track of 435 CDs. Maybe 79’s a risibly small number begging emails for some Juicers, but I have been sending money to a number of ppl on renewing contribs, and have always sent bumps elsewhere too. I guess the campaigns get it through ActBlue, but as I wrote to the bot, I’m mostly sure they’re all deserving, but it’s a long time ’til November, I am so not rich, and I’ve gotta pace myself.

    Doug, I wish I were rich. I’d love to give tons of money away in good causes. Mind, quite a lot of it would be in ecology causes and critter rescues of course, but right now, a lot would be all about Democrats. But damn, who the fuck is Katie? Jeff? Honestly. I wish them well, but I am not one of their best supporters. Who the fuck are they? I should not be getting this sort of email. At the least there should be some Oh we got your name off of ActBlue, would you consider donating to us?

    Srsly, ActBlue needs to tell campaigns that they can’t just use a general database to pester ppl with.

    I went to high school with Andy Kim and he’s an okay guy from what I remember.
    I really remember that redistricting out Cherry Hill years ago after a Dem finally won (Adler) caused it to be a leans R district.

    @SectionH: Those crazy begging emails have been dogging me since I donated to Obama in 2008! I eventually started filtering my email, putting everything with the word “unsubscribe” in a junk folder. I’m with you–I really wish they would fix this.

    I plan to talk to ActBlue about this very problem soon before I do another bundle. If they can’t fix it, I will look for another provider.
