Yeah, Jordan can’t be responsible for something that happened that long ago. But if you had a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge 30 years ago, they’ll deport you. Sounds about right.

Nothing will happen to Jordan and he will be re-elected. The worse it is, the more Republicans like it. So I’ve been cutting back on the daily Chump co news and have cut down on hourly/daily updates and instead I try to keep it all down to just catching up either at the end of the day for a few hours, or just catching up on any breaking news and not the daily grind of it all.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist:
Re Ginni Thomas: Given the lifetime tenure and tremendous perks of being a Supreme Court justice, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to ask for that person’s spouse (male or female) not to work in the government or political arenas. Sort of a “Caesar’s wife must be above suspicion” kind of thing.
People in two-career marriages frequently have to deal with issues around transfers, promotions, work schedules, etc., for the good of the “family,” and quite often one or the other has to give up something for the joint good. If Ginni Thomas wants to work, that’s fine; let her be a mid-level manager at Dunder Mifflin or run a bakery that refuses to bake gay wedding cakes or something. But she shouldn’t be allowed* to set up a blatantly partisan lobbying shop to “use [her] ‘experience and connections’ to help with ‘governmental affairs efforts’ and political donation strategies.” (Wikipedia)
A look at that Wikipedia article shows that her career has been riddled with conflicts of interest, including, while working for the Heritage Foundation in 2000 (I hadn’t heard this one before), “collecting résumés for potential Presidential appointments in the George W. Bush Administration when the Supreme Court [including her husband!] was deciding Bush v. Gore.”
Emphasis mine.
None of this has anything to do directly with her bloviating about Jim Jordan, but her Facebook post is newsworthy only because she is a political actor and the wife of a Supreme Court justice.
—————
* “But she shouldn’t be allowed . . .” Dunno how you legislate this, or even if you can, but it’s apparent that social “norms” aren’t doing the job. Or maybe I’m just wrong about the whole thing.

@Patricia Kayden: I believe that one of the wrestlers was attending a program at OSU for HS students when he first encountered Strauss. I think it is this fact that is prompting the panicked denials. You can almost rationalize not acting on reports by adults because mandatory reporting laws do not extend that far, but if you knew that he was touching college athletes and you also knew he was working at camps with minors, that cannot be excused.
