The only good news with that moron is he bought a gun with a grip safety (that’s a full size XD, but I can’t tell if it’s an XD or and XDM, its not an XD Mod 2 because the grip doesn’t say Grip Zone – don’t ask…). Pocket carry is for small single stacks and snub nose revolvers, not full size pistols.

    Organizers of Saturday’s alt-right rally in Portland, Oregon had their meeting plans foiled by a grocery store manager who called tow trucks on them.

    Joey Gibson leads a group called Patriot Prayer out of his home in the Portland suburb of Vancouver, Washington.

    His group took buses to Portland for its “Free Speech” rally today for security reasons. The extremists met up in Vancouver to catch a ride.

    However, according to the Columbian newspaper, the group’s meeting spot of the Fred Meyer grocery store in Grand Central Retail Center was not accommodating.

    “Security and tow trucks milled around the Fred Meyer parking lot at 2500 Columbia House Blvd., ready to pick up anyone who left their car at the private shopping center,” the paper reported. “Portland-based commercial real estate firm NAI Elliot, which manages the property, announced Friday that anyone who parked except to shop or work would be towed at their own expense.”

    “Once we leave, our cars are toast,” said one of the extremists.

We can look at history and see that nascent movements like these always have a hierarchy of actors/agents. And guys higher-up are always looking for new subalterns to bring into the fold.     Also this is the same group (Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys) that I argued about with some asshole on YouTube whom I called unAmerican for sympathizing with such a group. Didn’t affect him (I’m assuming it’s a he). He commented about how “awesome” it was when a member of the Proud Boys punched out a counterprotester on June 30th, who admittedly was being attacked by said counterprotester.

    I took him to task for his joy at the violence. He even had the gall to imply that I was unAmerican and tried to pathetically deny that “cleansing the streets” wasn’t inherantly violent, eliminationist rhetoric.

    I found it interesting that he ignored my mentioning of Republicans losing elections. Not a believer in democracy, perhaps?

    I have to ask, was the Portland demonstration serious, or was it some kind of in-joke? That’s a serious question.
    For a while, serious Trumpster demonstrators would turn out, to get in serious fights (serious enough to worry about a few people going to hospital or getting beat to death) with antifa types. At least that was the case in Seattle and SF Bay Area. This doesn’t seem to be the same thing.

    Are the demonstrators for real or are they just in it some cosplay and yuks? I guess I’m out of it in not quite getting what this is about. Seems almost like a hoax.

    These are organized groups with professional websites and online magazines. Look up the Proud Boys. They have affiliates in Canada and I believe the UK as well. They don’t believe “western” (read:white) civilization should have to apologize for little things like imperialism and colonialism. They believe that westerners should be unabashedly proud of what western civilization has done and should not be ashamed for “creating the modern world”, in their own words.

    Arrogant and chauvinist, are two key words to describe this philosophy. No doubt western civilization has contributed great things to the word, but so have other cultures. And we shouldn’t ignore the wrongs of the past to focus only on the glory; doing so ignores why certain nations, ethnicities, etc are in the positions they are in today.
