Unlikely that Republicans can get Duncan Hunter off the ballot, which makes for a good pick-up opportunity. Democrats have a great candidate in Ammar Campa-Najjar. Let’s do this.
I do have one quick Trump question: could he be prosecuted for the illegal campaign activity after he leaves office?
Villago Delenda Est
The Duncan Hunters both need to go to jail forever.

That is a pretty red area (I live in the next district over). It would be awesome if he is on the ballot while being in jail.
Also too, I am trying to figure out who is a bigger fuckhead, the father or the son. I have come to the conclusion that the answer to the that question (is the father or the son the bigger fuckhead?) might be “yes”.
rikyrah
He is Obama political fruit.
Let’s show him some financial love?

@Villago Delenda Est:
I would settle for “years to decades” myself.

“That’s okay, son, just do as much as you can.”

Could Trump be prosecuted
Not if a Republican successor pardons him immediately after he steps down, a la Nixon/Ford.
One suspects that’s the game plan.
I kinda think that 60% or so of the nation will be much less willing to accept the “need to move on” justification this time around.
Kari Q
I don’t expect a Democrat to win this district, even if the other guy on the ballot is a convict, much less “just” indicted, but it’s certainly worth a shot.
Not that it’s relevant, but Campa-Najjar is an extremely good-looking man.

IANAL, but I think there are statute of limitations issues unless there is a (most likely sealed) indictment before the clock runs out.

I think you’ll need to repost this later, I don’t have my actblue info at the ready right now. It’s worth taking a shot at though.

Yes, Trump is vulnerable to everything he’s done that’s a federal offense. As soon as he leaves office. And he’s vulnerable to all kinds of state-level crimes as well. Unless his successor, who I hope will be a Democat in 2021, does a Gerry Ford and pre-emptively pardon Trump for any and all indictible crimes. (Obviously, no Democrt would ever do this.)

@Paul W.: Yes, please re-post this later. It got stomped on by Adam’s post and it’s also been a crazy day and everyone is exhausted. Tomorrow it’ll get more attention.
sukabi
@joel hanes: state charges for tax evasion, money laundering…in sure there are plenty of other laws he’s broken. He can’t be pardoned for state crimes.

So why would Trump get a pass now for paying ‘hush’ money — just because he’s president — if he committed the crime when he was simply a candidate?

@Yarrow:
Will do
