Well, on the bright side, we had a lovely evening last night. We shut down the Chinese restaurant we had dinner at, and then went to look at F. Scott Fitzgerald’s grave in Rockville, Maryland. The only weird thing is that I’ve met Elizabelle three times now, and until last night, I though she was somebody else.
So far, both of the (football) teams I am rooting against have a 14-0 lead. Killing a bit of time before I switch over to baseball.

@Smedley Darlington Mingobat (formerly Mumphrey, et al.): I was running a star party at a local park, and the way it was clearing it was starting to look like we might actually have something for folks to look at, but the clouds never really let up.
Otherwise, I would have given Rockville a shot, despite the hour each way. Hope the turnout was large and interesting! Or at least interesting.
DeAndre Hopkins wasn’t just covered in the end zone. He was rolled in a rug, dipped in blow in insulation and then tucked into a sleeping bag.

I live near some of the most gorgeous beaches anywhere in the world and I haven’t been once this summer. Pathetic.
One of the things I miss most about teaching was having summers off. I used to have a houseful of kids because my friends who worked summers, especially seasonal workers, would drop their kids off early every weekday morning. Unless it was raining, I took a minivan full of kids to the beach every afternoon.
The kids miss it too because whenever they get together they always say how much they wish they could have summers like that now.
Sportsball; Ireland division. Today was the All Ireland Ladies Football final. Dublin beat Cork. 20-15. Also, too, the girls broke a record for spectators at Croke Park, 50,141 compared to the pitiful boys all Ireland final spectators number of 46,286.
UP THE DUBS!!!!!!!

It’s an exciting early season for my Liverpool FC. Even people who don’t actually play for/work for/support the Beatles’ hometown club think they’re showing title-winning form.

You could still be at a beach.
Might have involved an airplane ride to get to one you could sit on….
I don’t know what the units (inches) mean on the scale. The red zone is 1.2 ” but is that per day? hour?
If you track the storm over the next days, you see it turn just at the NH-Maine border and go offshore. The colder Gulf o’ Maine water turns it. So no rain for Maine, unlike the model a few days ago that went right through the whole state.
At the higher resolution, the storm is shown tracking further to the west.

@MomSense: Great inborn talent of kids is how they make (or inspire) one to go have fun. And even if the best I can do is to just drag my mood around, they still have fun.

Is there that much water in your back yard?

TCU ran this play last night but it got called back because it wasn’t quite a lateral. Illinois ran it against Purdue and Lonnie Perrin through it to my old buddy (rip) George Uremovich.

I’m old enough to remember when Steelers were predicted to be SB bound. Losing to the Chiefs and tying the Browns is a hell of start to that goal.

@Martin: They’re really bad right now.

We’re getting the Florence bands right now in Piedmont NC. Wait just a bit, the beach is coming your way!
