The Kavanaugh hearings went off the rails for Republicans for one reason and one reason only: Democrats decided to fucking fight for once.
Let’s keep fighting. You can give here to a CrowdPac that funds Susan Collins’ opponent next time she runs if she votes to confirm Kavanaugh.
Here’s a GoFundMe to pay for Christine Blasey Ford’s security costs. (EDIT: This GoFundMe is now closed after reaching its goal.)
And I upped the goal for the Senate races in NV and AZ (where Sinema and Rosen are running great Democratic campaigns) to 5K (should show up soon on the thermometer).

You reach down and you flip the winger over on its back, Leon. The winger lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over, but it can’t. Not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that, Leon?

Is that gofundme verifies?

As soon as my power comes back on. Got some badly needed rain here, but it came with high wind and lost power.

@Major Major Major Major: Closing update for this campaign (from 3 hours ago)

For a moment there, I seriously thought this was a sportsball post about the UEFA Chamnpions League.
Gin & Tonic
@David Rickard: David Rickard, Rick Deckard? Coincidence? I think not.
Chetan Murthy
@Major Major Major Major: I don’t know that it’s verified. It “looks” legit, but honestly, I can’t tell. And I donated when it first opened-up. I’ll admit that I was feeling pretty …. passionate about the situation Dr. Blasey’s in, and this was something I could do, so ….. hopefully it’s legit.
The person who started it, has closed it to further donations:

I’m going to have to get a suggestion proposal together for Lisa Brown in the 5th Congressional district in Washington. She has Cathy McMorris-Rodgers running scared. And it would be great to have the Republican number 4 go down.
Doug!
@Yutsano:
Great!
Kent
@Yutsano:
Also for Carolyn Long here in the WA 3rd Congressional District (Vancouver WA and surrounding rural areas). https://www.electlong.com/ She is closing in and has a decent chance of beating our local wingnut Congress person Jaime Herrera Beutler.
Uncle Cholmondeley
I hadn’t heard of CrowdPAC before, but Good Lord — they claim to have raised nearly $1.5 million with this campaign.
Yutsano
@Kent: I would love it if the entire state’s delegation went blue. It probably won’t happen because Newhouse is sucking up to all the rural farmers in the 4th but otherwise a big blue sweep would be sweet.

@Uncle Cholmondeley:
so a person who hasn’t even announced yet has a bigger warchest (assuming she votes for kavanope) than collins in 2020. that’s gotta hurt.

Got an email from ActBlue this morning asking me to donate to Rosen’s campaign. Which made it easy to do something I was going to do anyway.
Sinema and Heitkamp are next.
Miss Bianca
@Kent: Plugging here for a Colorado candidate, Diane Mitsch Bush, currently a Democratic state representative running against the odious Scott Tipton in CO-3. This was a seat that till fairly recently was held by a Democrat, John Salazar, brother of the former Sec. of the Interior and CO Senator, Ken Salazar. It’s a gerrymandered district that includes Pueblo, the rural, heavily Hispanic and Democratic-voting San Luis Valley, and the white redneck rural Republican-voting Western Slope. it’s definitely doable this year.

One thing that the leadoff for this post brought to mind. I’m seeing on Facebook and elsewhere the rightwingers I know claiming the precise inverse of what we jackals here seem to think is going on. They claim all of Ford’s potential witnesses are refusing to testify; they claim that her story is the one falling apart; they claim that she is the one avoiding sworn testimony while Kavanaugh has volunteered it in writing to Grassley’s people even after her accusations came up. How is it that one of us is in Bizarro world with the complete reverse not just of opinions, but even of the basic facts of the case?
(Yes, this is semi-rhetorical, but Jesus, the sky apparently is normally red for these people)
Martin
I’m hoping that should the dems win the Senate and Kavanaugh not be confirmed that they notify the WH that the only candidate for the vacant seat that they will consider be Merrick Garland.
Baud
@Martin: I’d like that. I miss the whining about how he wasn’t good enough.
burnspbesq
@Martin:
That would result in the vacancy not being filled until at least 2021. Everyone can decide for himself or herself whether that would be a good thing.
Mnemosyne
As I’ve said several times, I realize that Dianne Feinstein has some problematic areas where she’s a Blue Dog (like Iraq), but there are two areas where she has never compromised and never will: gun control and women’s rights. This whole Kavanaugh thing was a fast one down the middle of the plate for Feinstein, and she is taking full advantage of her years of Senate experience to fuck with Kavanaugh’s nomination.
PenAndKey
@burnspbesq: And? As far as I’m concerned McConnell’s bloodless coup stole that nomination from Obama. If holding the position open until after Trump is gone is what it takes to ensure he doesn’t fill it? We as a nation can deal with a split court better than we can if the GOPs federalist society sponsored theocratic wannabe rapist gets seated on the bench.
Calouste
@Mnemosyne: People complained that Feinstein had the ( anonymous) letter from Ford and didn’t do anything with it, but delaying the release of that letter until after the hearings has resulted at least in a delay of a week on the committee vote, and there aren’t that many more weeks left until hopefully the Democrats take over the Senate.
Running down the clock is important so that there is no time left for a replacement in case Kavanaugh doesn’t get confirmed.

Per Steve Benen: lIn related news, Collins’ Democratic rival, Nate McMurray, unveiled a television ad this week, taking aim at the incumbent congressman’s scandal, though it’s unclear if the campaign will have the resources necessary to get it on the air.”
Looks like McMurray could still use a hand in NY 27

Finally saw teevee ads defending Sinema from McCSallys pretty nasty attack ads. They were DSCC ads. They attacked McSally as well. About fucking time. I saw a poll yesterday I think that had Heller beating Rosen which i don’t understand. I think Rosen is a better candidate than Sinema an d I think McSally is a better candidate than Heller. Power of incumbency I guess.

Let’s get this done!
46 days to go!!
Cheers,

Horrible cretin and talk radio jerk who won on Trump’s coattails in MN-02 last cycle is now looking like he’s in some trouble.
Out woman Angie Craig is in her second attempt at the seat, this time with more name recognition and, with Trump in the 36-40% approval range in MN, she has a good shot.
Feel free to chip in if motivated! Thanks!
(I chipped in to the Sinema – Rosen thing, too. Time to boot a bunch of men out of D.C.!)
mere mortal
Thanks, Doug. In for the $20.20 vs. Collins.
