Trojans managed to come back last night and get a victory. Saved Clay Helton for a couple more weeks. May be a turning point like two years ago.

Go eers.
I’m stuck at a strongman show, so I’ve got 8 games on the walls here.

Hello? Is this mike on?
Ahem. So it’s not the university version of the gridiron sport, but … Liverpool FC are back at the top of the English Premier League (pending the outcome of tomorrow’s Chelsea-West Ham Utd match) with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Southampton. Chelsea will need a 2-0 win to match Liverpool atthe top of the table on points tally, goal difference, and goals scored.

Game day here in my little college town – people everywhere, students are back – a little light rain. Trying to stay away from campus area… not a football fan ?

Well, all people here to is bitch about football and all people do on the Dawg blog is bitch about the Dawgs so there isn’t much point.
6.
Omnes Omnibus
@raven: The Badger game isn’t until this evening, so I’ve got nothing.
7.
raven
@Omnes Omnibus: It looked like there were about 30,000 for the Illini-Penn State game last night.
8.
Mathguy
Wow, the Cornhuskers really suck. Michigan hung half a hundy on them before the end of the third quarter. Much rending of shirts and wearing of ash cloth here in Huskerland.

Since this is an open thread:
I’m currently job hunting and some of my keywords are “policy analyst” and “Washington DC.” Well, guess what came across my Indeed recommendations today?
“Policy Analyst – TRADE Executive Office of the President.”
I’ll be walking over to Mom’s house for dinner and the Oregon/Stanford game. Pot roast, the perfect meal for a rainy day and football. Go Ducks!
18.
Capri
@Mathguy: My Boilers, who managed to whoop ranked Boston College today after going O for their first 3 games, play them next. There’s a worry that no matter how bad they are, the Huskers see Purdue as a winnable game and put up fight at home. It’s not who you play but when you play them.
19.
Josie
My Longhorns managed to beat USC last week, but I don’t hold a lot of hope for them against TCU this afternoon. We are rebuilding, so they say, and it is taking longer than expected.
You’re in it, and that last TCU touchdown was a clear push off.
22.
Kelly
@West of the Rockies: We’ve had an inch or two of rain in Willamette Valley over the last few weeks. Just enough to settle the dust.
23.

My alma mater beat Pitt and thus won’t go winless this year.
24.
Duane
@Johnnybuck: Georgia played like the dominant team they are. Tough being a Mizzou fan. I’ll be over here, sitting with my Illini friends.
25.
Steve in the ATL
@raven: @Johnnybuck: sloppy game, but not as close as the score suggests
26.

I’ll be at the UW vs ASU game in Seattle tonight. Watching my kid perform at half time. It’s Husky Band Day where about 50 HS marching bands show up to perform together at half. Pretty impressive how they can squeeze them all in elbow to elbow. That many bands playing together at once is impressive
Bama in the process of closing it out against Texas A&M. Looking like they’ll get to 50 again.
28.
Duane
@raven: Don’t know why they’re bitching. Try being a Mizzou fan. Or Illinois.
29.
Steve in the ATL
@Duane: back in law school i played on an intramural softball team with your offensive coordinator. Quite an athlete!
30.
raven
@Steve in the ATL: They are in full throated whine on Get The Picture.
ODU is about to beat the Hokies.
31.
raven
@Duane: Oh it’s unreal. Our OC is stupid, our players quit, the refs sucked.
32.
raven
Here’s a sample
Bad up front on both sides and play calling is once again a prime suspect. We lose three this year including the SECCG. Do yourselves a favor and don’t watch Bama. That way you can keep telling yourself we’re a good team. I do think next year will be more like last year but we got some growing up to do both physically and mentally to run with the big dogs.

Card v. Ducks starting in less than an hour. Time to trot out one of my favorite chants from the yell leaders.
Pursue them. Pursue them. Make them relinquish the ball!
Go Stanford!
34.
Duane
@raven: Yeah I’d quit that place too. 43 points wasn’t enough?
35.
raven
@Duane: I’ve been there for years and enjoy fucking with them. The blog owner is a really good dude, UGA Law like Steve and it’s got great content. They just go apeshit almost every game.
Newcastle United did not lose today. Fightback begins.

UW Huskies got stuck with all night games last year by decree of the lords of sports and TV, hopefully this won’t be a repeat year, or we’ll have to rename them the Night Wolves.
Eff this whole ‘west coast has to play night games’ business.
45.
raven
@Sloegin: No one cares out there anyway. They’re either surfin or mountain climbing!
I hate the night games too. Especially later in the year in the Northwest when it’s cold wet and windy. When we lived in TX they were pleasant but not here. We got a hotel room in Seattle at game day prices. The HS band buses don’t get back to Vancouver until 4am tomorrow morning. I’m snatching my daughter up after the game and we are sleeping here.
I still call it Fort Lewis too. Had an uncle who was a Colonel stationed there back when I was I was a kid in the 70s and we’d drive up on weekends to hang out and go sailing with my cousins. He had one of the biggest houses on the base.
It is now called something weird like Joint Base Lewis-McCord.
53.
raven
@Kent: Yea, nothing is like it was. I flew in and out to Korea and Vietnam from McCord.

Tiger Woods is on fire. Or was, at least. Flipping between Bama, Va Tech, WVU and golf.

@Omnes Omnibus: Cougs just barely lost last night so I’m good until tomorrow.

Dammit Northern Illinois, you have one job: ruin Florida State for the rest of the year. GET TO IT.

I will be rooting for South Florida vs. East Carolina tonight, and Florida vs. Tennessee as well.
