Today, pictures from valued commenter Albatrossity.
I was in California recently for my son’s wedding in San Luis Obispo (yay!), and took a morning to head over to nearby Morro Bay for some photography of the birds and beasts there.

The otters in Morro Bay are often quite close to shore, and are quite photogenic.

The beach at Morro Rock often has lots of shorebirds, like this Long-billed Curlew.

Like the otters, this species is not often easy to find near shore, so it was nice to get a good look at this one.

Another long-billed shorebird on the beach.

Morro Bay (and Montana del Oro) are awesome, and as usual Albatrossity is the bird whisperer. I ran into Bambi and his mother on one of the trails once in the fog.

I love the look on the otters face. The birds are beautiful as always, thank you.
Immanentize
Great pics! I love the curlew’s wings. Such a perfectly timed pic.
And of course, Otters.

Thanks for these incredible photos!
RedDirtGirl
Is the bird in the last picture pooping? Inquiring minds, and all that…
Albatrossity
@RedDirtGirl: Yes. I also managed to get a shot of one of the curlews pooping, but in the interest of propriety, I didn’t include that one with this set.
TomatoQueen
Lovely creatures, lovely pictures. That curlew’s wing! That otter’s smile!

@Immanentize: Just need a fast shutter speed, a burst of shots and a lot of luck. Skill helps a lot too.
@Albatrossity: Nice work.

Is that a cormorant on the rock? Awesome photos!
susanna

Lovely pics, tho I do wonder at the particular action shot of a blue-legged sandpiper, um, evacuating.
