Come on over here for a little break. One cute kitteh who has found his very own private place among my grape vines. He was a little annoyed I found him. But thems the rules, you want to play outside in the backyard, I must know where you are. He is magnificent, isn’t he? But don’t tell the others I said so.
I am tuned out today. How are you taking care of yourself?
TaMara (HFG)
And by respite, I mean no politics.
schrodingers_cat
@TaMara (HFG): I no sees a kitteh?

Handsome kitty! Looks like the cat that comes to our back window sometimes.
Thanks for the respite thread.

I agree on this feline’s magnificence! We used to have a similar looking neighbor cat come over to visit/harass our cats who looked like this. I named him Blondie from the spaghetti western movie.

Here’s some good news:
Note that there are more 2018 new registrations in the young voter category than entire new registrations during the 2014 election cycle.
Also too, there is another FL Senate poll, this time giving Gillum a 9 point lead (54-45). So far Gillum has led in every poll since the primaries.

Beautiful sunny crisp fall day in Northern Illinois.
I suspect my 2 beasts are sleeping in the sun.
TaMara (HFG)
He’s nursing a wound on his tail right now. I think he and Jake got into it. Not sure why, but Scout is still in heat and though everyone else is fixed, those pheromones are powerful things. Can’t wait for Scout to join the fixed crew, this has been no fun for any of us, though she’s been a good sport about it all.

Well, it’s going to be a very bad day for any weeds in my immediate vicinity — vicinity defined loosely as may need additional space. Neighbors won’t mind my attacking their shotweed.

@TaMara (HFG): Lol, apologies but I started putting together my post before seeing yours :).
And there is no longer a delete/edit option…
TaMara (HFG)
@Marcopolo: You are forgiven.

This highly attractive kitteh will not pose any danger to the duckies, will he?
Moar ducks!

Can has enough hair to make ALL the sweaters.
Do cats have hair or fur? I understand there are rules.
Waterg
Is this your new kitty? His coloring reminds me a little bit of your gorgeous kitty Harley, may he rest in peace. I bonded with Harley in some inexplicable way the first moment I laid eyes on him, and I have never forgotten him.
And now I’m crying about Harley; my emotions are this close to the surface this week.
rikyrah
Is he a visitor? Or, is he likely to become part of your menagerie?
TaMara (HFG)
@Elizabelle: Oh, no. All my cats get along with the ducks. It helps that they are all about the same size. They even have a little crush on Jake: Jake and the Ducks.
TaMara (HFG)
@rikyrah: He’s mine. I rescued him about 5 years ago – he’s 7 yrs old. My cats have backyard privileges as long as I’m around to check on them. We have an understanding, they are not allowed to jump the fence and so far everyone has followed that.
Waterg
@scav: Would you like directions to my house or just the address to plug into google maps?

I haven’t talked here about it because it was too painful, but I recently lost the best cat in the world, my Spike. It was pretty traumatic for me.
BUT — we waited a bit and went to the local cat rescue and chose a new baby. He’s the most darling cat ever. He’s 5 months old and has cerebellar hypoplasia, which makes him a little wobbly and uncoordinated, but it’s not severe, so it mostly just give him a sort John Wayne gait, keeps him from jumping more than a foot, and causes him to wipe out when he races around corners. But he is the sweetest, most lovable little critter. His name is Mouse and every time I get a little sideways I go and lay down on the bed and he jumps up and snuggles with me and purrs until I feel okay again. He’s the best.
TaMara (HFG)
@Waterg: I still cry about him. Zander came about a month after Harley and I swear to you I think Harley sent him. It was a complete fluke and love at first belly rub.

Thanks for this post and pictures
TaMara (HFG)
@jacy:Mouse is the MOST darling kitteh and I think we should have photos of him to post here, don’t you?
eclare
@jacy: So sorry to hear about Spike.
WaterGirl
@TaMara (HFG): I assume you knew this was WaterGirl – I have no idea where the rest of my nym went.
That’s the way it is sometimes. I often go back to the quote from Washington Irving that gives me so much comfort:

PS one of my cats is named Jacy.
jacy
@TaMara (HFG):
I’d be happy to have you post him — can you pull photos off my Facebook, or do I need to send you some? And he is the most MOST darling kitteh!
jacy
@eclare:
Gosh, that’s funny. My screen name of jacy is taken from a cat I used to have named Jacy!
eclare
@jacy: I inherited the cat from my parents who went on a “J” kick when I was in high school: Jezebel, Jerome, Jelly, and Jacy. I may be leaving one out….
JPL
@jacy: You should loan him out, since lots of folks need snuggles.

@jacy:
I still miss my late great cat Boris, who was the best cat ever (albeit not the smartest cat ever). I love all three of our current cats, but none of them can replace my boy.
scav
@Waterg: I’ll probably just discover it on my own as I continually work my way from yard to yard. Some lemonade might be nice by then . .
WaterGirl
@scav: Made with fresh lemons and baker’s sugar, i promise.

Piano lesson today. I’m not as prepared as I should be, owing to the week’s insanity, but my teacher always finds something good about what I’m doing.
BlueGirlFromWyo
Such a beautiful kitty! I miss having a kitty. Maybe the dog will like a friend. :-)
For self-care, I’m staying off social media aside from this blog, and have restarted my yoga practice. The work it does on the parasympathetic nervous system really helps. I’ll dedicate today’s practice to the jackals.

@Mnemosyne:
Yeah, I’ve probably owned a thirty cats over the years, but Spike was my ball of sunshine. He was THE CAT. I found him under the back porch when we lived out in the country, and he was nothing more than a 4-week-old black scribble. Took me three days luring him out with tuna and lunchmeat. From that day forward he was joined at my hip for the next 14 years. Mouse is giving him a run for his money on best cat ever, tho. They may have to be co-best-cats-ever.

In the interest of mental health, I can present to you the high & mighty lord floofypants Odoriki deciding that guitar practice is the right time to get some snuggles & loving from his dad. It’s a bit funny how the cats gravitate to the housemate for music practice. But Odo takes the cake. He sits right behind him and when there’s a break in songs, climbs onto the guitar neck to give & get cheek rubs.
TaMara (HFG)
@jacy: I will pull them off facebook. And we’ll post when things get ugly tomorrow. :-)

@ruemara: Very cute…
TaMara (HFG)
@ruemara: OMG. Squeee!!
jacy
@TaMara (HFG):
I sent some to your dinner email account if that makes it easier. :)

I’m trying to stay off twitter today, but this was so worth it:

@ruemara:
I was thinking about joining the glee club they were starting at work, but given how our cats react when I sing … ?
zhena gogolia
@ruemara:
Wow, they’re both cute.
Aleta
Ohhh sigh, I love cats like that one vey much. And all the other kinds too.
Thanks …
This reminds me of the knock knock joke, which I’ll rewrite:
Tamara: Knockitty knock
Me: Who’s there?
Tamara: Interrupting cat.
Me: Interrupting cat wh—
Me: Ahhhhhhh. (exhale)

@Mnemosyne: My cats are not fond of my piano playing. Zooey in particular would walk in back of me when I was practicing, loudly meowing. But last week I bought the two of them cat balls, which are located in the living room near the piano. On Monday, Zooey slept in his cat ball while I practiced!
They’ll get accustomed to your singing.
Mnemosyne
@TaMara (HFG):
Can’t. Stop. Laughing. ????
ruemara
@TaMara (HFG): That is definitely the best thing I’ve seen all day besides the housemate doing the cat dance to Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough to cheer me up, which I have been sworn to keep secret until he makes it for bribery purposes.
@Mnemosyne: IDK, they might just like it.

OK, that seal with the octopus was pretty funny, too bad for the octopus, but still,
Pow, right in the kisser!

Since its Autumn, thinking about apples and cider.

FLOOFY KITTEH!!!
I’ve been trying to keep up with people who are on deployment to various spots in the Middle East. There’s a long standing joke about me going all Jewish mom on my friends. They’re not wrong. But they’re (mostly) pretty good at staying in touch. Mostly.
LuciaMia
@TaMara (HFG): Was that a ‘come-hither’ octopus?
WaterGirl
@jacy: Sometimes if we’re very lucky, we get to have more than one once-in-a-lifetime pup or kitty.
WaterGirl
@TaMara (HFG): Is that squee for the kitty, or for the guitar player? :-)
Elizabelle
@LuciaMia: Apples and cider. That is a good thought.
And cool mornings. Eventually, cool evenings too.
Last night, we had a gorgeous Harvest Moon. (Might have been a day old, but just gorgeous when it hung there, low and gold.)
ruemara
@WaterGirl: Gonna tell him you said that.
blackcatsrule
@WaterGirl: Definitely for both from me!
WaterGirl
@ruemara: Sounds like I might not be alone in that, either!
JeanneT
I like seeing these lovely cats!
My kitty, not pictured, is finally eating well – she had 4 teeth pulled three weeks ago, and lost weight while she was recovering. At 17, 7 pounds, with stage 2 kidney disease, my vet wants her to gain weight, not lose! So I’ve been trying this food and that food and this addition and that addition. Today, I think natural hunger finally kicked in: she’s cleaning her bowl every time I feed her, no matter what flavor/brand food I’m offering. Yay!
ruemara
@WaterGirl: lol, I’ll convey the respectful thirst comments.
ruemara
@JeanneT: Congrats & healthy gaining to kitty.
NJDave
What a pretty kitty! Thanks.
The Pale Scot
TaMara, How do you get your kitty to stay around the hacienda?
John Cole
my god you glamorous bastard
TaMara (HFG)
@The Pale Scot: Honestly, I have no idea. It’s my magic power, I guess. The same one that makes lost animals find me to take them back to their people.

A bit of good news. From Real Clear Politics…
McMurray is campaigning hard. Very active on Facebook. Lots of small donations. I sense he isn’t the most liberal guy out there, but, he’s several orders of magnitude better than Collins.
