Mitch McConnell, boasting in August 2016 about his greatest act of obstruction: "One of my proudest moments was when I looked at Barack Obama in the eye and I said, ‘Mr. President, you will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy.’" pic.twitter.com/tKEq62iZnf #Kavanaugh #MerrickGarland

Trump is just a symptom; the GOP is the disease. Remember, kids: Sharing is caring!

.@gillibrandny: This is not about whether or not he should be convicted; this is about whether he has the privilege to serve on the highest court of the land for a lifetime. This is not a court of law this is a job interview. It is our job as senators to assess if he is honest. pic.twitter.com/YbuiAYjisd

Twenty years ago this month the Starr Report came out. Let’s review what happened to some of Bill Clinton’s antagonists. (1/7)

— David Greenberg (@republicofspin) September 26, 2018

House Speaker Newt Gingrich all the while was having an affair with a staffer. (She is now ambassador to the Vatican.) He stepped down as speaker. (3/7)

— David Greenberg (@republicofspin) September 26, 2018

Fortunately for the GOP, they settled on another replacement, who served for eight years. That man, Dennis Hastert, later served time in a federal prison for molesting young boys when he was a wrestling coach. (5/7)

— David Greenberg (@republicofspin) September 26, 2018

But at least one of Starr’s young staff attorneys made good. Brett Kavanaugh is likely to become the next justice of the U.S. Supreme Court–unless, that is, someone discovers that he committed sexual assault or witnessed gang rapes while in high school (7/7)

Just a theory, but maybe the Republican Party is a dumpster fire right now because they are controlled by truly bad people.

Night’s out from the left coast, from a night owl. Sorta sounds like a title for a sci-fi dystopian novel of the takeover of a big money party by evil yellow spawn of a giant yellow spawn-birthing creature that occupies the sest of power. No resemblance to current persons or events, except symbolically.

(Alexandra Petri) Brett Kavanaugh did not go out much. He was a quiet, respectful lad. His only hobby — more of a passion than a hobby — was to update a meticulous calendar of all of his social outings in case he needed to consult it in 30 or more years. Sometimes, for fun, he would pay a respectful visit to one of 65 girls his own age, although this was but seldom, as he had a lot of homework and volunteer work and future leadership to do.
    (—)
Bart was on the football team and the basketball team. It was nice having a doppelganger, because that way Bart could play football on Brett’s behalf and Brett did not have to worry about getting head injuries.
    …
Bart never said much. He mainly communicated by downing kegs. One keg meant yes; three kegs could mean anything. Brett was half in awe and half terrified of him.

“Have An Extra Respectful Weekend!” Brett wrote on his calendar. He was already dreading the moment he would have to go out with the car and pour Bart into the back seat, give him water and Tylenol, and put him to bed, as happened most weekends. Boys will be boys, he reminded himself.
    …
That night in their bedroom (Bart slept in the bed, Brett shunted himself underneath), he began to wonder about the rest of their shared life. Was Yale going to be like this, too? Probably Bart would join some sort of frat immediately and leave Brett to do their homework and get them ready for law school.
Then, life? Brett had a plan: He would become a clerk, then work in a White House, then become a judge someday with clerks of his own — female clerks he could show respect to, as had been his hobby for so long — then maybe someday join the Supreme Court. There were calendars upon calendars, all planned out to the day. But if Bart continued to carry on as he had, what would become of them?

Lindsey Graham wants to know if he has become a parody account:

    Lindsey Graham @LindseyGrahamSC

Why would any reasonable person continue to hang around people like this?

Why would any person continue to put their friends and themselves in danger?

Isn’t there some duty to warn others?

It is interesting one of the arguments against CBF, among Republicans men, is that if we were all culpable in adulthood for act she from high school, millions upon millions of men’s lives will be ruined.

But I see no Democratic men joining them.

It seems like Republicans are trying to rally support on the basis that Anya guy can have his career ruined based on unsubstantiated allegations from any point in his past.

Hopefully this strategy is falling flat on its face, as most men do not have sexual assault skeletons in their closets, and should point out they are not worried because they never assulted anyone.

    @TS (the original):

Avoiding the appearance of impropriety only applies to Democrats. If there isn’t not a rule against, with prosecutors willing to dish out severe penalties, than anything is fair game for Republicans. And even then, it is not much of a roadblock, if they think they won’t get caught, like all the people in the Trump campaign.

    This is exactly my position.

Me personally? I’ve never sexually harassed a woman. I’ve never tried to sexually assault a woman. And therefore, I’ve never had to lie about it.

I sleep pretty well at night next to the same woman – the only woman – I’ve been with for the entire 23 years of my adult life.

I honestly don’t understand what is wrong with these people. Maybe because in my youth (and as an adult), I didn’t associate with scumbags.

I’m going to try to take the kitties to the vet for their booster vaccinations and regular checkup. Make sure they’re still full of meanness!

I should take the dawgs too, they have become so lazy their toenails aren’t being worn down properly, and so click on the floor when they walk. It’s loud enuff to wake the dead!

There shouldn’t be any news at the vet’s clinic, so that’s a good thing. Cannot even think of attempting to watch a bunch of pure-evil women-hating patriarchs interview a witness about sexual assault, “No, No, No!” as Amy Winehouse once said.
