I got tired of shaving my face. My wife likes fuzzy, so I grew my beard.
Our cat keeps staring at me now.
She knows it’s me. My voice, my smell, the way I open her cans… but I’ve got whiskers now.
She stares at my beard now so intently.
Yutsano
But Tbogg…
I did a massive house clean last week and as it turns out I’m not really all that messy. So now other than cheering Cougs/Seahawks I got nothing really going on.

Didya hear sumthin’?
Hush kid, I’m sleeping.

Doggie snuggle photos are the best. The only thing that beats that for me are cats and dogs snuggling together.

Dogs do make everything better.

Kavanaugh is a belligerent, self-entitled bully. And a week is a long time for the people who know that best to tell their stories.

Badger is too cute.
Your older dog is cool too :)

My heart has melted. What a couple of sweet pups.

@Corner Stone:
This world is unfortunately controlled by belligerent, self-entitled bullies. I’ve worked for more than a few.
They’re in governments around the globe. Private industry, show business, academia.

Seeing my sister tonight at her 40th reunion pre-party. I’m excited.
That is, unless I combust into an ash heap from outrage first.

@tulip: I get my morning purr and my bedtime purr. My cat follows a strict schedule. I get daytime purrs, too, but they are random throughout the day.
Schlemazel
Christ it would be nice to go a few days without yet another moral outrage.
I am so tired today. Between the health issues and the never ending shit storm spewing from DC I just have had it. Thanks for the pups

Awww.
My last two weeks at this job are looking to be pretty frustrating. The project we’re trying to get the team onboarded for is poorly documented and bug-riddled, and the people who wrote it are in Ukraine and won’t give us more than one hour of video chat (at 8am) with their lead developer next week. They really don’t want us to take over until January, so they can keep billing 300 hours for moving a couple buttons. I am getting out just in time!
Corner Stone
@germy: I am aware, only too well. Narcissists, assholes and bullies have risen to head every dept of a place I used to work. They drove out all the talent under them who actually got stuff done, so I guess we’ll see what happens. My guess is they will go on to bigger jobs for more money.
I honestly think the inability to be shamed is the single largest factor to success in a career.

@Yutsano:
Must tip my hat to the WSU women’s soccer team, who traveled to UCLA this week and defeated them 1-0. I think UCLA was ranked either #5 or #6 at game time. These girls are top-10 quality and their ranking should reflect that.

@Corner Stone: she keeps calling Kavanaugh’s lies– about the night of a sexual assault, the public sexual denigration of a 17 year old girl and god knows what else– “white lies”…. could somebody call her on that?
I think she’s useful to watch because she’s pretty much every stereotype of the upper middle class, college educated “suburban” woman who calls herself “socially liberal and fiscally conservative” and, I would bet, has voted R in every presidential election except ’08 and ’16,

Ambivalent about the show. It has a number built in problems and inconsistencies, so put it on more for background chatter than something about which to pay close attention.

I miss furry things. Our life is so complicated now we can’t add any more living creatures, but after waking up at 4am this morning to a long anxiety reel consisting of memories of every sexual assault I have ever experienced (they started at age 4 for me, so, yeah, not fun stuff) interspersed with visions of Kavanaugh’s evil scowling face, I finally gave up and got into my kids bed. They reflexively snuggled with me and snorted a little and while I never did get back to sleep, it did give me some immense relief. Warm, fuzzy-headed kids and dogs and cats are a pretty good antidote to hellish supreme court hearings. Oh, and Zanax (though I just ran out…)

@tulip: I got my cats fixed yesterday…I was super-worried for them, but they’re running around like nothing happened.
I can’t get the cones on them at all, though…they flip OUT with them on. It is also tough keeping them from wrestling and licking each other, particularly when I’m not home, but hopefully, they will moderate themselves if they hurt themselves.

Now would be a good time for #BeBest Melania, Tiffany and Sr. WH Advisor Ivanka to tell Big Daddy that even women in their social circles have had bad stuff happen to them. Who’m I kidding, though?
Right now they’ve agreed to a delay for a limited scope FBI investigation. There’s too many icebergs out there for their man that they just don’t want nosy inquiries about: Whelan’s connections, his employer’s connections to Manafort and Ukraine, the stolen docs re Senator Leahy, debts/gambling etc. I’m wondering if there was ever a stint in rehab somewhere.

@trollhattan: At the beginning of his nomination i was surprised to read that a LOT of people–some on our side– seemed to think Kavanaugh was at least someone of substance and character who’d be a fair yet conservative judge. I don’t know how many people would have even bothered to look further had the Dems not screamed from the rooftops about his missing work product, failure to talk about his work with Ken Starr, his involvement in hacked emails he apparently lied about in his previous confirmation. That stuff didn’t fully come out until a week or so ago. Brett has been conning people for quite a while, and he got a lot of help from the pro’s doing it for this nomination.
I would really like to corner GWB at a fundraiser and ask him how he feels now–actually, how his wife and daughters feel– after what’s transpired in the last 24 hours. Just to watch him squirm.

He is the bad thing that happened to Ivanka, I wonder how buried that awareness is, but just in the last year he’s heard two women say he started his negotiations with them by telling them they reminded him of her. He chuckled when a shock jock called her a piece of ass. And all those pictures of her sitting in his lap well into adolescence…. I will not be shocked if we ever learn things didn’t stop there.

Somebody should ask Flake, Graham, and every one of those Republican rat bastards whether he believes Ford should be prosecuted for perjury. Because either Ford lied under oath, or Kavanaugh lied under oath. One of them is a criminal and should be held accountable. I found yesterday so discouraging because after Ford’s testimony the consensus was that Kavanaugh was toast. @trollhattan:
A periodic reminder of just how awful W was as a president and a person. The only reasons he gets such a pass compared to Trump:
1) We’ve had the whole of the Obama years to forget how awful he was. He helped by staying in the background during that time.
2) He grew up in a political family, so he learned from an early age to act the way people expect a politician to act.
It’s amazing how important 2) is. Part of the reason people react so strongly to Trump is because he doesn’t act “presidential”. That failure of presentation alerts people to all the other awful stuff he’s doing. Since Bush knew how people expected the president to act, he could get away with a huge amount more; people just couldn’t believe somebody who acted so presidential could be as awful as he was at the actual job of being president.

It might be a small thing or a nothing; I noticed yesterday during Lindsey Graham’s opener a stutter, perhaps faked, about Doctor Christine Blasey Ford’s name, then he started using Doctor Ford. She publishes research as Christine Blasey (CM Blasey) (a common practice at least in the US); does anyone know her naming preference? Haven’t found it documented in a brief search.

That surgical glue is great stuff. When my dad had open heart surgery to have a valve replaced, they used glue to close up his incision. Four months later, he had no scar other then a very fine white line down the center of his chest that you could hardly see.

Note: a friend of mine went through a divorce and was bemoaning the prospect of dating etc and asking what to do etc…I asked why he’d grown his mustache in the first place. To look older, says he. Mission accomplished, you don’t need it anymore – lose the mustache, says I.

@germy: It has been my custom, for many years, to go clean-shaven roughly from late March to mid-October, and let my beard grow the rest of the year. Shaving Day always drove my old dog Murphy (1993-2008) bonkers; he’d bounce around barking and trying to lick every part of my face. (My #2 dog Ben (1994-2008), rather confusedly, tried to lick my hands and feet.)
