Well, I’m up because we are now in the longest wild-card game in MLB history.

I really need to get to bed, so win or lose already.
Why are you still up? Open thread

It really ain’t over till it’s over.
mrmoshpotato
Listening to the ballgame in Chicago – and apparently listening to the Cubs lose. :(
TaMara (HFG)
And that’s the game. Nite all.
Jim, Foolish Literalist
@James E Powell: and now, it’s over
NotMax
Um, because it is only 7 p.,m.

Christ on a cross.

At 13 innings, the longest “winner take all” game in postseason history.
TaMara (HFG)
@NotMax: Oh, sure, rub it in – your tropical paradise time zone. ?

A mere 2222 hrs. here. Now that the sun’s down, I’m waking up.

Go Brewers!
James E Powell
I’m happy that the Rockies won. Nothing against the Cubs, but they’ve been there more recently.
TaMara (HFG)
And in all my excitement, I forgot to put the ducks to bed. Ooops. I’m on my way sweeties! #badduckmama

1:30 pm here.

@James E Powell:
I am originally from Chicago and a mild Cubs fan. I wasn’t too surprised or disappointed they lost. This yea!it’s team has too many hitting dry spells to win three series and take it all.

Boy, what could have happened in the last two years to cause that drop?
Darkrose
It’s not even 11 here. That was a hell of a game. Like the rest of my corner of Giants Twitter, I was pulling for the Rockies; I’m glad they won. Now if the A’s can beat the Yankees tomorrow, I’ll be thrilled.
Major Major Major Major
We watched the penultimate episode of The Good Place season 2 and decided to power through.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist:
Wish I would have gone to class more, because I could have totally answered this question!
oatler.
@Aleta: Are you in the Totally Normal Arizona Hurricane too?
lahke
@Major Major Major Major: Yeah, binge-watched sunday night. i really like the show, but was watching with a friend who finds the morality simplistic. Too bad–give me some clearly-delineated good guys that I can root for. Can’t even imagine watching Breaking Bad, her fave. Not just the violence–I don’t want to spend time with people who suck you into identifying with them as they get worse and worse. Not into religion, but I totally hold with the Buddhists: you become what you practice. I want to practice goodness, which is the whole point of The Good Place, now that I think of it.
Nice of her to let me watch on her TV though.

@lahke: Breaking Bad isn’t even remotely morally ambiguous, is the funny thing. Walter White is a bad, bitter dude who turns down free, lifesaving help because of pride and entitlement. The show just makes you root for him.
The Good Place is solid, good even. It’s not earth-shattering, but it’s kind and pure, which is very rare.
ETA for the record I think breaking bad is amazing, but partly because it tricks you into rooting for him
Jerzy Russian
@patrick II: yes, it is hard to see how they could win three series. Had they won tonight, they would have had to go back to face the Brewers with a messed up rotation. They probably would not have been swept, but given the low scoring, they almost certainly would not have advanced.
NotMax
One for the AI fail file. Just now –
Lyric of song on TV show: Are bluebirds humming?
Closed captioning: A bloobin tubbin.
:)
smike
@NotMax:
Had to google the lyric “Are bluebirds humming?”.
Are you watching an episode of Stanley?
Aleta
@oatler.: No, I don’t know what this weather is but I know it’s not Arizona. I looked up Arizona Hurricane and I see what you mean. Strange. Sandbags? Is that unusual for Arizona?

Good morning from Madrid! I woke up Wednesday to the news of Trump going off on Dr. Ford last night. Even an ocean’s distance doesn’t really blunt the sting of our moron in chief.
I should go look at some art, or a giant palace with less garish taste than a Trump home.

@rikyrah: And this is a revelation how?

Also too, Good Morning!

Tom Ricketts donated $650k for an ad spend in support of Kavanaugh. Fuck him. I hope the Cubs go 0-162 while he still draws breath.
George
@Jamey: On behalf of Cubs fans everywhere, let me say: Go to hell.
I’m tired of assholes like you making comments like that.
Laura Ricketts, who is a co-owner of the Cubs, is a Democrat and is active in the lesbian and gay community.
Sorry the world is not perfect for halfwits like you, bud.

@Jamey:
no he didn’t.

I actually just came on to congratulate the Cubs on getting back to their roots by blowing a 5 game lead in the last month of the season, and also to laud the extra spice they added by scoring 2 runs over the next 22 innings to miss the playoffs altogether.
This is the kind of season that could be a real legend in a hundred years or so. :D
Ridnik Chrome
@George: Thank you, from a lifelong Cubs fan.
Ridnik Chrome
@lethargytartare: The Cubs went 16-12 for the month of September and never lost more than two games in a row in that stretch. And they finished the regular season tied for the best record in the league. They didn’t blow anything. The Brewers just got super hot. It happens.
