I’m looking at the news about voter suppression in North Dakota and recalling a former grad student of mine who was not allowed to vote a couple of years ago. For medical reasons, she has no driver’s license and when voter ID first went into effect there, she tried to use her US passport and a utility bill to prove ID and residence. She was told she needed an ID issued by ND. I’m sure they have a better vetting system than the State Dept./
She and her husband have since moved their family to Canada.

It doesn’t matter. She’s not going to imperil her chance to inherit that golden tower. (If Mueller et al, hasn’t already civil forteitured it). Whether she agrees with his opinions or not, that’s the bottom line here. Even if she’s unhappy, she’s going to stick with it. And being trapped in the marriage is irrelevant here. She loses more than she gains by leaving, and she knows it.
She will say whatever gross thing Trump and her handlers want her to say. She’s only trotted out to somehow buff and mellow his image anyway.

Trump is in the WWE Hall of Fame, and the crowds respond his antics as if they were watching a pro wrestling match: At some level they’re aware that it’s fake — i.e., they know he’s just making shit up — but they so want to buy into the fake morality play that they elbow this knowledge out of their consciousness, pummel it, stomp on it, and just have themselves a whale of a time as The Virile Good Guy sticks it to The Snooty Bad Guys. Empathy, sympathy, compassion be damned: We’re WINNERS now!

@Dorothy A. Winsor: Pennsylvania’s DOT told me they wouldn’t accept my Department of the Army issued ID to get a license plate when I relocated to Carlisle for my assignment at USAWC. You have to get the license plate and then they let you swap out your driver’s license for a PA one. I told the guy I wasn’t going home to get either my personal or US government personal passport. And when he said something about having to establish residency, I told him I was on mobilization orders and he could go fuck himself with one of his license plates. Then I walked out.

Technically, the entire system of closed adoptions was created to conceal child trafficking starting in the 1920s. There’s a really interesting book about the woman who came up with the system called “The Baby Snatcher.”
A lot of these kids are going to end up with long-standing psychological problems because abruptly taking children away from loving parents is very traumatic for them. And a lot of these “Christian” families are not going to care about that trauma and will expect those kids to act loving and grateful towards them from day 1.

My question: how can they have a transgender student in PE and not already know which locker room she’s supposed to use? Shouldn’t that have been worked out when she registered for the class? My worry is this is a sign that they aren’t letting her use either locker room for the class, either forcing her to change in some place like a closet or wait until the locker room is unoccupied, and it’s only the active shooter drill that forced the issue into the open. A school that was letting her use the facilities normally wouldn’t have this problem.
