Explosive Devices Found in Mail Sent to Hillary Clinton and Obama https://t.co/fQxZosSUEE
— Jonathan Landay (@JonathanLanday) October 24, 2018
Conservative figures and media, including Fox News, Alex Jones, and Donald Trump, have inspired harassment of journalists, violence in the streets, and now bombs being sent to former presidents and political opponents.
This isn't alarmist. It's reality. 1/

If we had a properly functioning media, we’d have a national conversation about how the president of our country feeds the flames of domestic terrorism. https://t.co/IAa81WTPi3
— Neera Tanden (@neeratanden) October 24, 2018
When Trump and his allies talk about "civility" from their opponents they don't mean being respectful or polite, neither of which is a value the president can claim to hold. They mean bending the knee or staying silent.

I screenshot the last one because I expect Haberman or Bloomberg to delete or change their work.
No condemnation of violence from any Republican leader. Maybe Jeff Flake or Susan Collins will speak up against violence “on both sides.”
@germy: hey, I recognize the sarcasm font!
MAGA Mouthpiece Habs is doing Sarah Sanders job from her perch at the Nazi Times.
Already seeing the BOTS and Chump supporters trying to claim this as a Dem plot??. I fully expect Chump to do so as well before someone takes his phone away!
the Soros smear has gotten so pervasive that a Jewish coworker says she’s seen it appear on Jewish discussion board’s parroted by conservative Jews.

@MazeDancer: Wasn’t there another white man that killed a bunch of police men few weeks ago. Imagine the wall to wall coverage if that were an immigrant or member of a minority.
They really have no idea what will happen if a hair is hurt on 44 or Forever FLOTUS’ heads.
They don’t want none of that.

@OzarkHillbilly: She is the devil, you know. How do I know this? Because of the two women who were seated in the booth behind me at breakfast on Monday. Oh, and global warming is definitely a hoax. It was all I could do to not throttle them.
Wait … do you seriously think he’s ever going to leave? Justice Rapey McFratboy will rule that the 22nd doesn’t apply to the Traitor-in-Chief, because he was born before it was passed by Congress and ratified. And The Founders were VERY CLEAR about the “born before ratification” exception.
@rikyrah: I read that tweet wrong at first. Thought it was saying that the most respectful protest I’ve seen in my lifetime–taking the knee–was a-okay with our modern-day fascists. Then I re-read the tweet and saw that it said bending the knee, as in submitting to raw abuse of power. I so hate Republicans. It sometimes frightens me just how much contempt I have for them.
CNN studios in NYC evacuated?
Something or someone tripped the fire alarm while they weee on air
@rikyrah: Your comment earlier about a race war if something happened to one of the Obamas reminded me of a conversation with my RWNJ evangelical sister before Barack won the nomination in 2008. It was during the superdelegate uproar, with some speculation that superdelegates might vote for Hillary in spite of Barack having won the majority of delegates through voting and caucuses.
She said “Do you think the blacks will riot if the superdelegates give the nomination to Hillary Clinton instead of Barack Obama?”
My reply: I don’t know about “the blacks” (with scorn at her choice of words) but I will certainly be rioting if that happens, and so will a lot of other people. Maddening.

@schrodingers_cat: Nailed it. Expect at least one death-inducing act to be committed by a MAGAt between now and Election Day.

It frightens me far more how many people have no contempt for them.
They are contemptible. Maximumly contemptible. Because all of their fear and hate and bullshit is exactly that, bullshit.
Just saw a headline on CNBC that the FBI has intercepted a pipe bomb addressed to the White House. This just got a lot stranger.
I hope they catch this person quick.
And I hope they keep his MAGA hat on him for his mugshot.
The Clinton package was intercepted yesterday and local NYC news broke the story. I wonder if the Secret Service expected to release a public statement. hmmm
@lamh36: That was called a CYA package.
@lamh36: Nope, they’ll try to paint it as a false flag. Watch Trump go there first.
@lamh36: Wait nope…NOT a fire alarm
angry when their guy loses… even angrier when their guy wins.
Or in Colin Kaepernick’s case, not bending the knee.
@Cheryl Rofer: Apparently while CNN was on air reporting about a package being sent to the WH, was when the alamein went off and the building was evacuated cause of a suspicious pavkage
I don’t mean to harp on this subject but we on the Progressive side need to plan for how we deal with our ‘patriotic opposition’ when some of them start using their 2nd Amendment Solutions Kit. Remember all the butt-hurt from them when Trump won that they wouldn’t be able to use their 2nd Amendment Solutions Kit on traitorist Dems & Hillary supporters? That actually happened and far too widely for my tastes. When someone tells you something about themselves, you should believe it until proven otherwise. This is going to happen. How we react will define what this country truly is for the foreseeable future.
Comment over at LawyersGunsMoneyBlog
Haberman is the embodiment of the banality of evil.
@kindness: What do you propose? A glimpse at some cop blogs and police union statements make me suspect they wouldn’t be on our side.
@SFAW: As I said in the other thread, I didn’t even blockquote anything, so I have no idea how it happened. And no, I wouldn’t get a blechquote right either.
@janesays: Probably sent either to show the Trumpenfuhrer the good work whatever RWNJ is responsible for this is doing on his behalf, or to provide cover for tge Thugs.
@kindness: for eight years these cowards made all sorts of veiled threats against The Great Black Satan. And almost without exception, they looked for someone else to be in the front line.
They ain’t gonna do shit because in the back of their tiny little minds, they know they will end up in PMITA federal prison. Pants-shitting Nugent patriots, every last one of them.
I’m sitting at my desk, yelling out loud “make it stop.” And, nobody seems to think it’s strange behavior today.
I keep remembering how the Oklahoma City bombing was what popped the civil boil the last time. I really don’t want any blood to be shed doing it this time. Not very hopeful, though.
@WaterGirl: Next time just ask them if they are stupid, then when they start to answer cut them off and say, “Never mind, I don’t have any more time for stupidity.”
But Mitch McConnell couldn’t eat his club sandwich in peace. The man had indigestion for hours afterwards.
@OzarkHillbilly: It’s a good thing you weren’t there egging me on, because I actually contemplated stopping at their table and asking them if they had any idea how ignorant they were of actual facts .
Not that I wouldn’t enjoy having breakfast with you!
Southpaw’s twitter feed says that Wolf Blitzer is now partially retracting claim that a pipe bomb was sent to the White House. Trump and his minions turn everything, everything into a ploy. I feel like shouting that at every Christianist zealot/sanctimonious ass riding a car with the bumper sticker, “Life is sacred.” Bullshit. Who do these folks think they are keeping company with? Who do they think they are?
Oddly, just a few minutes into the GA gubernatorial debate last night, an alarm began screeching and delayed the proceedings for several minutes. Had almost forgotten about it, but in retrospect and in context of everything else, it seems somewhat more ominous.
Thumbs up for “Office Space” reference.
The “librul” media enabled and empowered a fascist personality cult in our midst, now they wring their hands and wonder how it happened.
Three words for your mother fuckers: “But her emails”.
It may end up being the epitaph of the republic.
So at one time there was speculation that a terrorist attack right before the election would give Trump and the R’s the national security bump they needed. And here we are.
@Cheryl Rofer: Reuters now reporting this is untrue. No pipe bomb was sent to the White House:
@lamh36: It’s always projection from the Fright-Wing Nut Jobs of the Far Wrong, or more succinctly,
Thirteen days to send those clowns from projection to rejection to dejection.
Fox News’ John Roberts just tweeted no package sent to White House.
@LAO: We all are.
Not seeing anything about a pipe bomb at the White House. I’m thinking that’s bullshit.
Your daily FTF NYTimes update: in their story about the Clintons receiving a bomb: it’s not in the current story, but per reader comments, it was there at one time:
They are clinical. This is ridiculous.
A reader comment from 40 minutes ago:
Reuters and CNN was reporting it, but
Uh huh…now Reuters via CNBC pulling back in the report bout a package being sent to WH
other words truly Fake news
@khead: No offense, but are you high? 24 hours?!?!?!?!
@Ridnik Chrome: And they know Trump would throw them under the bus without a thought. Also older righties remember what happened after the assassinations: society became more liberal both in law and fact.
1. False positive because of heightened alert after other bombs
2. Intentional false report/leak from inside WH to get “both sides” coverage
Trump has a rally tonight, and he will talk about the evil dems and fake news. Do you think his staff will try to convince him to cancel the event.
What’s in the current FTF NY Times reporting on bomb to the Clintons — and is this relevant? — you decide:
Subtly (or not), it’s there. Hillary Clinton. Carpetbagger.

Fuck you and shut up, you Republican enabling scum.
If we replaced op-ed writers with monkeys randomly typing, that would be a marked improvement in the quality.
@Barbara: Bad analogy. Riefenstahl, reprehensible as her politics were, was a talented & innovative film director. MAGAt Horriblewoman is a hack & a scribbler.
@Uncle Cosmo: Agreed. One had genuine talent. The other: a publicist elevated way beyond her skills. Both women put their efforts to some really bad works.
I’m sorry, I know its not productive to say this right now, but every time I see Maggie tweet about the latest norm shattering in the Trump shit show, I am always tempted to reply “But Maggie, her emails”.
@schrodingers_cat: I didn’t click.
Proud of you for taking up the cause. We need a better media. It’s not that hard, hacks. It really, really is not.
And then act like they didn’t really want to on all the Sunday shows.
@Elizabelle: Jeezus, The Times needs to be cleaned out.
@JPL: Didn’t it take something like six Times reporters to cover that story?
@Uncle Cosmo: “Trying hard,” not necessarily succeeding = good analogy.
@Elizabelle: Glad I canceled.
Someone should check out the finances of the Grey Lady. She sure is shilling for a lot of shady characters off late.
So did some GOP operative “leak” this “story” to the media in order to blame the Dems and sow chaos and division? Even before the report was retracted, I was thinking Reichstag Fire.
@WaterGirl: If I had been there I might have done it for you.
@Captain C: Probably the same person who wrote the article about the Clinton’s today.
@tobie: Bet the Trumpers put up that lie as cover ….
If I tweeted, that’s exactly what I’d reply every single time. No reason to be polite to that hack.
@Elizabelle: Since you still have a subscription, would you see if the reporter is the same one that covered Alan Dershowitz’s vacay.
I’m just curious, so it’s certainly not important.
OT, but Al Roker “has time today”. He is schoolin’ folks left and right on his twitter TL bout Megyn Kelly and her bullshit Blackface comment and apology
@khead: Within a week he’ll be saying at some rally that the sender is “his kind of guy”. To raucous cheers from “Christians” and “patriots”.
Ghost of Joe Lieblings Dog
According to NPR, what they (the Clintons and Obama) have in common — along with George Soros, in whose mailbox a pipe bomb somehow ended up — is that they are all “polarizing figures.”
Profiles in Journalistic Courage…
Is George Soros a funder of “left wing” causes? Maybe so. I think “liberal”, and maybe that’s the same thing, and maybe not.
Just heard him described as that from interviewer on MSNBC.
Uh huh…notice how quick the media was to report the stuff bout the WH package though ??. Now they’ll have to tweak their both sides segments on the threats ??
@JPL: The reporter on this story is William K. Rashbaum.
I am not familiar with that name, because I don’t read their national coverage that much these days, and certainly not the political stuff. They’re too whack, and time is too short.
Doing a further check for you now.
@lamh36: Good for him. WTH, Megyn Kelly? She’s younger than most of my kids and it most certainly was not ok when they were growing up.
Maggie’s BFF, Glenn Thrush, had a tweet last night saying something like “we aren’t talking enough about the fact that historians of the future will see this election as incredibly racist.” I tweeted back at him saying one side is being racist. Half an hour later he deleted the tweet. FTFNYT.
Meanwhile GOP in NY 27 is whining about unspecified threats against Bannon who is scheduled to speak at a local fire house to an (optimistically) anticipated crowd of (possibly) as many as 100 OR MORE! No law enforcements agencies have confirmed alleged threats in spite of the fact that the county sheriff is a Trumpite and white nationalist. Like anybody cares about Bannon.
It looks like the list of targets is expansing. Wasserman Schultz also got a suspicious package.
This is insane.
@JPL: Rashbaum is a longtime NYT Metro reporter, who has covered a lot of corruption in NYS government. His bio:
Mike in NC
Fat Bastard has ten rallies scheduled to fire up the deplorable base and try to save his neo-Nazi ass from irrelevance. There will be violence.
Yes, one of the RWNJs favorite bogeymen.
Ok…ok anyone else at the point that this is a distraction from RWNJ from something bigger guys?
@Ghost of Joe Lieblings Dog: Right, it’s their own damned fault that someone would try to blow them up. I never listen to NPR anymore. It’s just too infuriating.
The list of targets seems to be expanding. Wasserman Schultz received a suspicious package too. This is insane.
@SiubhanDuinne: I don’t know yet who first reported a bomb sent to the WH. Tapper tweeted it early on and the right-wing trolls immediately glommed on to his twitter feed. One thing I’ve learned in the past five years is that self-identified white working class voters *love* to see themselves as victims of coastal elitists, feminazis, Black Lives Matter, La Razza, academics, liberals, etc etc etc. In their minds because they are victims, their hate, racism, and xenophobia is fully justified. They are whiners extraordinaire and like all whiners and blamers ultimately amoral and vicious.
@Elizabelle: Thanks. It appears that he wrote a lot about Dershowitz but not necessarily about his dinner snub on the Vineyard.
You are on the ball: Bloomberg have updated the headline from “Trump Lobs a Nationalist Grenade Into the Midterms” to “Trump Launches a Nationalist Salvo at the Midterms” (which seems an odd way to address the problem with the original title).
Of course Bloomberg didn’t mention that they had changed the article. It now seems to be standard practice by the media to freely modify online articles for any reason without mentioning what was changed.
Good on ya, Al!
The FTF NYTimes reporters on the Alan Dershowitz in Martha’s Vineyard stories:
per NYTimes bio: (Mr.) Niraj Chokshi is a general assignment reporter with The New York Times’s express desk.
story from July 3: Alan Dershowitz Says Martha’s Vineyard Is ‘Shunning’ Him Over Trump
Also from July 3: On Martha’s Vineyard, a Frosty Summer for Alan Dershowitz
Reporters are Jess Bidgood (no bio linked) and Julie Bosman.
Julie Bosman’s bio up at NY Times:
Hmmm. Maybe some NYTimes reporters were already up there, in the area, or relished an expenses paid trip to Martha’s Vineyard.
But on July 7 they brought out the Big Guns: yes, it’s the horrible Jeremy Peters, and look at the headline and blurb for his piece:
Jeremy Peters’ bio, no reporting on it from before the NY Times. Is that true?
Poynter link with more info on Peters. Not from the rightwing swamps; actually a journalist from college, and spent two years in Saint Thomas for the Virgin Islands Daily News.
@Ghost of Joe Lieblings Dog: You are fucking kidding me. Not doubting you just emoting. So many in media so corrupt.
@JPL: From Splinter, the last I’ll put up: New York Times Admits Running a Zillion Alan Dershowitz Stories Wasn’t Great
@Cheryl Rofer: One of these things is not like the others.
Before this is over, someone is going to be seriously injured if not killed. And so far, they’ve all been directed to well-known Republican bogeymen: Soros, Obamas, Clintons, DWS, CNN. I hope Nancy Pelosi’s people are on high alert.
The FTF NYTimes has removed all catty language about the Clintons from their reporting on the bombs received.
But it was there, at one time, in two different iterations.
@Elizabelle: Soros supports civil institutions which support democracy and human rights, which, in the world the Koch brothers have made, are purely “leftist” causes.
@O. Felix Culpa: I did some for her, too! I should have them posted today, then I’ll ask for some more addresses.
@PJ: Exactly. That sounds kind of good government, even “centrist” to me.
@SiubhanDuinne: Maxine Waters is often a target of trump’s rants.
Haberman has sent out 25 tweets in the last 2 hours. When you are busy sending out a tweet every 5 minutes no reasonable person can expect there to be any filtering on the drivel being spewed.
Can’t help themselves, can they?
Looks like Chuck Schumer won the race among out of touch dems to hit the “both sides” angle:
@Elizabelle: Someone has it and I hope they are mocked for their reporting. I wonder how many cancellations they received before they pulled the story.
Now you have to keep your subscription so you can inform the rest of us. I still have the subscription to the crossword puzzle though.
Yup. Hoping they are checking her mail carefully today and from now on.
@condorcet runner-up: I wish we in NY had a viable alternative to Chuck, but we don’t, yet. (He’s not up, this year, anyway.) He’s not bad in a lot of ways, but really vulnerable to pressure to appear moderate and even-handed, to the point where he puts out crap like that tweet.
@condorcet runner-up: You make me feeling dirty for defending him, but Schumer sent that tweet 23 hours ago, before the devices being sent to the Clintons, Obamas and CNN had been reported.

They have supported shady characters for at least nearly a century. Starting with Josep Stalin and Adolph Hitler back in the 1920s and ’30s. So it isn’t a recent trend, but a long established pattern of supporting fascist authoritarian dictators, like our current Orange Drumpf.
I’ve provided links to various archived stories in the past, too much like work to keep that up, but it’s easy to find if you doubt me. Stories that support the actions of the Soviet in Ukraine to create a famine that changed the composition of the population to mainly of Russian heritage by killing off the Ukranian people by shipping all the harvest out of Ukraine, with troops.
Oops, the stories didn’t mention shipping the food away, my bad. Just what a good strong job Mr. Stalin was doing managing Ukraine’s problems.
Stories about how “firm leadership” of Mr. Hitler was bound to improve the daily lives of the Germans. Except for the dead people, I guess. That wasn’t in the story about the new German leader, either.
Funny about the holes in the NY Times stories about “strong leaders” — isn’t it?
Not so much, actually.
And now, the San Diego Union-Tribune. Copycat or coordinated?
@Mandalay: But well after the attacks on Democratic offices in Florida that were organized by a GOP official, or the ones in NYC following that POS Gavin Macinnes’ speech AT the GOP offices (in which the victims of the beating were arrested immediately, while the NYPD only collected attackers after public outcry). If Twitter were a World Series game, that tweet (and similar positions he’s taken in the past) would be like being up at bat using overcooked spaghetti instead of hardwood
Yes she is, and I hope she has good security.
@Elizabelle: The quote you provided is no longer in the article.
As I mentioned above, changing articles without noting the changes made is now standard practice by our failed media.
@Timurid: Intentional fake report to get it out there in the cycle. From now on, any right-winger who talks about today will refer to the White House bomb that was covered up. Just having Tapper report it gives it enough credibility to live forever.
@PJ: And, apparently, “controversial” and even “polarizing,” also too.
The Right has so successfully moved the Overton window of discussion in this country I fear we’ll never get back to a reasonable middle ground. Basic decency, good governance, and the Social Compact are labelled as weakness, soshulizm, handouts and identity politics as they’re laundered through our media apparatus, prepped to be dismissed and derided by half our population upon consumption.
We’re legitimately at a point where things like “Honesty is valued” and “Citizens should have broad access to voting in elections” and “Subject matter knowledge is a good thing” and “Encouraging political violence is bad” need to be re-litigated or something. Those are now controversial statements, apparently.
@Bruuuuce: He is great on a lot of things, especially local constituent services and that sort of thing. It’s the national messaging where he and others of that generation of Dem leadership seem to be stuck on a world view that just simply doesn’t match reality right now.
Listening to MSNBC online; they’re going over and over how well-protected former presidents and other elites are. Although, that bomb did get through to Soros’ home.
Telegraphing to the bomber: choose a softer target.
Andrea Mitchell telling us George Soros is “not a household name.” Stuff it, Mrs. Greenspan.
@Mandalay: Point taken, but he is still in that tweet equating vandalism with sending a deadly weapon to the home of a private citizen.
@tobie: I am so sick of these lying sacks of shit that are running our country AND of the stupid/evil/clueless media who repeat their lies.
@condorcet runner-up: I actually agree. He’s a good, but not great, Senator, I just want him to do better., or else to find someone who will while still fighting on all the other fronts. (But I think I prefer his cousin, for entertainment value.)
@Bruuuuce: Fair enough; Schumer’s statesmanlike “both sides” approach is fundamentally flawed. He should be more courageous, and go after Trump for his incendiary rhetoric on an ongoing basis instead.
That said, the previous poster clearly gave the impression that Schumer had sent the tweet after this morning’s events. I dislike Schumer, and think he has done a rotten job over the past two years, but that doesn’t justify distorted criticism.
Hillary speaking now.
The contrast between her and the jackass in the White House.
I am ashamed for those who put him there.
Hillary: “As a person, I’m great. As an American, I’m worried.”
Grandkids get the first shout-out.
this is getting ridiculous!
ETA: I trust Pete Williams reporting more than most.
Also too… Apparently, a hot mic heard someon at MSNBC say “I mean, we can guess this list” and laugh before or as this was being reported
@Mandalay: “Original poster” here. No “distorted criticism” intended by my original post, as the point was that equating vandalism to deadly explosives under the “both sides” framework is wrong.
Dorothy A. Winsor
I’m listening to NBC and some officer on there launched into what he called the political side of the event, saying when you think about the “assaults” on Rs recently, maybe this is someone trying to distract from that by claiming Ds are victims. I had to turn it off.
Andrea Mitchell should be retired for complete incompetence. I googled a string of names of the bomb recipients so far and it took me until the third page of google (to get past the current stories about the bomb) to find this little gem, which I won’t link to.
I suggest that anyone on that list who doesn’t already have a protective detail intercepting their mail get one double quick.
So Pence tweeted a statement and Chump retweeted it and said “Ditto”
That’s it…while of course Ivanka issed a bullshit statement too
CNN is reporting that Kamala Harris has a field office in the same building as the San Diego Union-Tribune. Makes sense, whichever was targeted.
Having an argument with a facebook friend’s friend. He immediately jumped to “It’s an obvious left wing false flag, don’t believe it”. It’s mostly stayed civil so far, we’ll see if that happens.
@Elizabelle: Jesus H Christ, Andrea Mitchell. Trump, Gaetz, and the extended rightwing noise machine LITERALLY just spent a week trashing Soros and blaming him for starting a “caravan” that had secret muslims in it coming to invade the US. That doesn’t even count the past 10 years of right-wing specific demonization. He sure sounds like a good target for a whackjob that listens to RW news.
Did I nail this or what?
@Cheryl Rofer: This freaking guy needs to take several seats, preferably away from decent people.
@lamh36: notice what they said about the return label!
Return label address was to Schultz office…uh huh…have the RWNJ come out adding this to the “Dems did it to themselves” list yet?
Sandra Day O’Connor was a trailblazer. Too bad Bush v. Gore ruined her legacy.:
This former journo doesn’t buy the “Different desks made their own plans” line. At the newspaper where I worked, the desk editors on duty have a daily “budget meeting” where they discuss what stories they’re using tomorrow and what else they’re working on. It keeps things coordinated and among other things helps avoid duplication of coverage by multiple desks. I cannot believe that editorial desks at The NYT work in silos isolated from each other, as that statement implies. You just do not run a news organisation that way.
@Amir Khalid: Doesn’t pass the smell test with me either, Amir. Thinking on cancelling the Grey Lady after the midterms. On the one hand, it’s good to monitor them. On the other: I don’t want to fund the Sulzbergers’ vendetta against the Clintons and other non-Republicans. All these terrible hires and stories did not happen by themselves. It is a body of work.
And a piece of work, too.

And of course, we must never forget that shouting at a treasonous monster eating dinner out is exactly equal to setting an explosive in a non-political person’s mailbox.
I mean, really, who wouldn’t think that shouting at someone guilty of political horror on behalf of Russia is the same as blowing someone up who’s job is to go get the mail each day after the mailman runs through the neighborhood.
Can’t we get an indictment for inciting to riot on someone here? Like The Donald?
Or, wait, is calling a group of racist fascist thugs deplorable, that’s the same thing as inciting violence? Oh, sure it is!! What’s wrong with me for not seeing that up front???
@lamh36: Been saying it for hours.
@lamh36: For example,
Also, the New York Police are reporting that there was white powder in some of the packages.
Christ, what an asshole.
@maryQ: I’d be tempted to reply
” (Alluding to one Monica Lewinsky, who reportedly [source here] “when [she] first left for Washington, …vowed ‘to get [her] presidential kneepads.'”)
@khead:Nope. It only took two, judging from what I’ve seen on Twitter. Maybe not prominent people but RWNJs and Russian trolls are.
Christ, what an asshole (number 2 in a continuing series)
@Cheryl Rofer: not to be crass, but her daddy is dead…and any well wishes she gets on his behalf, is gonna dry up pretty soon, if not already
@Uncle Cosmo: Winner!
How this plays out will be as follows:
Basic condemnation from the right wing mouthpieces
Breathless speculation on who it is
Sudden turn of events pointing to a left winger who is trying to influence the upcoming elections
Media glom on and follow the muddy waters down the BS while the right-wing machine normailzes it all
Feel sorry for you all. Such hatred is scary
Wait a minute, a suspicious package was sent to Cuomo too?
Seems pretty obvious that most of the MSM is run from one editors desk. Their stories follow the same theme way too closely.
Step 2: “Nobody got hurt, so what’s the big deal?”
That is as big and blatant a lie as I have ever seen in any article. From the video, this was the actual discussion:
Joy Behar: “Every time he [Trump] says thing like “The press is the enemy of the people” his entire party needs to stand up against him, and say something. Mitch McConnell – where is he? He’s the leader of his party.”
Meghan McCain: “He’s getting harassed and heckled when he goes out in public to have dinner with his wife…”
Nobody on the panel pushed back against what McCain said, and McCain made no mention of bombs.
To be clear I have no time for Meghan McCain, or the “both sides” tight rope she constantly walks. But the story pushed by RawStory is a vile lie. It’s also worth reading the comments for that article. Hundreds of people were dumping on McCain for something she never said, or even remotely implied.
Here’s the actual video that RawStory lied about. The relevant conversation starts around 6:30.
And to the author of that smear article, Travis Gettys: Fuck you. You are lying scum.
@Mandalay: Thanks! I try not to retweet incorrect stuff, but I get caught every once in a while. I’ll admit I hesitated when I saw “RawStory.” Will scratch them from future retweets.
As to the count so far, I haven’t seen Cuomo, did see Maxine Waters got a package bomb. I’ve been on and off line, will be more off line during the afternoon.
Let’s all wait for a bit to evaluate the count. But this is a significant attack.
@lamh36: So much for them having said they were keeping the return address secret. All the packages had the same return address.
@WaterGirl: Jim Scuitto from CNN tweeted a pic of the package
You are right, and I wish Schumer would drop his “both sides” approach immediately, and forever.
Instead, he should dump on Trump whenever he uses incendiary rhetoric, and point out that his fellow Republicans in Congress are scared to speak out against him.

The comments under that twit with the photo are amazing. All proven now that this package was assembled, addressed, handled all by a Democratic operative, to distract from the other distraction underway at the southern border of Mexico.
Amazing. I so seldom dip into the pool of toxicity surrounding the Russo-Republican party and its drones. The degree of stupid and evil evident from every Russian supporter was astounding.
@Cheryl Rofer: Raw Story fucks things up a lot. They once published an article discussing impeachment and: a) failed to note that it takes 67 senators to remove a federal officeholder; and b) incorrectly stated that three presidents have been impeached, including Nixon (who surely would have been had he not resigned first, but nevertheless, facts matter).
@Mandalay: Thanks for understanding. You would think it is such an easy lay-up to call this sort of thing out without fearing (or maybe even better, caring) about the inevitable criticism from the usual peanut gallery on the right, as well as the pointless “centrists” in the beltway media. I am encouraged by Pelosi using the words “corruption” and “lying” in her latest statements, and it appears that the newer crop of Democratic candidates (Beto, Gillum, etc.) are not afraid to point out when and explicitly describe how their opponents are lying, or are speaking on behalf of their donors instead of their ostensible constituents.
There is no way that a “lone wolf” could send out this many bombs in this short of a time.
This is a coordinated attack by a group of people. I guarantee you.
(Unless Adam says otherwise, because he’s the criminology expert, not me.)
And it’s not as if the lives of the security people matter or anything…
@Sasha: Step 3: PROFIT!
You can put any return address on a label that you want to. I’ve mailed packages from San Francisco to LA with my home address as my return address and my work address as the main address so it will show up at one of the two places even if delivery gets messed up.
At best, that might be a clue that that package was mailed from Florida.
@lamh36: I don’t see a postmark on that envelope. Is it just my old eyes? Was it hand-delivered?
@Cheryl Rofer: Cuomo’s turned out to be a threatening letter, not anything that looked like a bomb. So he basically said “me too, hey, over here, give me some attention.”
