First, the police interacted w/ the protestors as they were leaving & they didn’t arrest anyone.
They actually saw the person spray-paint the anarchist symbol on the driveway.
The protestors were walking away slowly. Two walked with canes (yes). No one tried to run.
If the police had received a frantic 911 call from Mrs. Carlson saying she was terrified, had locked herself in her pantry & people were trying to break into her house, there is no way that the police would have let the protestors go. They would have made arrests.
The thread also mentions the protesters brought along four legal observers and the police report made no mention of damage to the Carlsons’ front door. Mrs. Carlson or somebody called the police, but it wasn’t because the house was being broken into.

You’re right. Which means that Whitless is already having to explain to Trump that no, he can’t arrest Hillary and Obama either. And the Broward County clerks, probably. It didn’t occur to me that he would just hope the next person will say ‘yes’, but that’s how narcissists and 2-year-olds work. Who’s in charge of the DOJ might become an interesting question, since presumably no one else has whatever kept Sessions in the job so long. I still think Sessions chose when he was willing to leave. It was obvious Trump wanted to fire him over a year ago.
November always marked the beginning of rainy season in California. Now it is fire season.
In the California of that future, every season would be fire season. In fact, that is already how climate scientists and firefighters are now describing the state’s wildfire season: year-round.
Against that possible future, the simple inversion of November from rainy season to fire season is a powerful poetic reversal — and a sort of map for how all of us will wake up to climate horrors in the decades ahead.
A reminder of what’s important.

@Frankensteinbeck: Whitaker is going to be lucky to last out the month.
Here's why this matters. On the eve of election night, we filed suit against the SoS' office, saying that they recklessly publicized over and over a MAJOR vulnerability in the state's registration database.
My colleague @myrna_perez_ argued in court that if there were a significantly higher number of provisional ballots cast, that could indicate that there are problems with the database and that the state needed to act to ensure those ballots weren't wrongly discounted.

lets just say, as speculation…. that Mueller is awaiting the majority of the shoes to finish dropping in this election and then, we begin to see the indictments start to fall… lets say that he starts with the ratfuckers, Corsi and Stone and locks them up on perjury to start with and squeezes them. He also has Trump Jr and DJT himself on perjury, but lets say he back burners the Liar In Chief and puts the manacles on the son… what could the ratfuckers give up that matters the most to all of us? I’m guessing the coordination of the Russians with the Trump campaign and perhaps even the GOP itself in money, logistics and strategy in applying that cash and misinformation to where it would do the most good. The ratfuckers would have to be the tools to implement that strategy, as such, they would need to have something to do and a purpose to achieve it.
If this is where the screws are being turned, how much sense does it make for the powers that be that coordinated all of the dissemination of that information to be shitting bricks?
I think very….
Which I believe has something to do with why Rupert Baby and The Turtle are meeting because they have to come up with a game plan to spin this shit away from themselves and provide some cover for the continuing GOP obstruction and having to cook up another distraction that safely shifts the spotlight away from themselves as they attempt to perform additional damage control…..
at least I think that’s a semi-plausible possibility… ymmv

Well a lot of them got jail time after Nixon. 48 got convicted after Nixon for all their bullshit. Didn’t seem to be much of a hinderance to the party then. Maybe if some members of congress get charged and convicted/confess, but I doubt it. I think it’s going to have to be bigger and worse, enough to end the republican party before it has a major effect. I don’t think sanity is possible.
BTW how are you doing? Better every day I hope.
If there was one thing I thought I knew about my older brother, it was that he would never cheat on his wife.
And then he did. When their youngest child was less than a year old, no less. I suppose I should give him points for not starting the affair while she was pregnant.
You never know what people will do given the right (or wrong) circumstances, particularly when sex is involved.
Also, when a person starts acting uncharacteristically in one area, it’s very common for them to start acting differently in other areas of their life as well. It’s uncommon for people to be able to successfully compartmentalize their lives. A change in one area can lead to a change in other areas as a ripple effect.

lets just say, as speculation…. that Mueller is awaiting the majority of the shoes to finish dropping in this election and then, we begin to see the indictments start to fall… lets say that he starts with the ratfuckers, Corsi and Stone and locks them up on perjury to start with and squeezes them.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist: And what exactly would Epstein’s role be? Making sure the kids snatched at the border disappear into the shadows?
Was already having bad thoughts about what’s happening with the kids we “taken custody of”. throwing Epstein into the mix I can’t even.

My question to the hive is – How far does this have to go before some minimum level of sanity strikes the republican party?
Nixon was on safe ground right up until he wasn’t.
Emma
@Ruckus: I don’t think they can regain their sanity. That ship is turning the Cape of Good Hope and getting hit by a typhoon. I think there’s going to be a realignment in American politics. I just wish I could trust it would be for good.

@Ruckus:
Given that his so called party has accepted and normalized all what the totus thug has done so far – I can’t recall one thing where gop has opposed him – there is no end game to be expected from the gop corrupt critters.
sukabi
@Ruckus: I don’t think the entire republican party was as utterly corrupted during Nixon as it’s become in the last decade, so I think it’s going to be much harder to set things right.
Ruckus
@Emma:
I feel the same way but there are a lot of bodies and it only takes a few to start the ball rolling. Of course the republicans seem to be a lot more cohesive group of sadistic bastards now than they did 44 yrs ago. And a lot of them were sadistic bastards then.
Time will tell.
ETA As all of you who have answered can see I agree with your takes.

I can’t deal with the movie “Ordinary People” at this time of night. I also cannot turn it off.

@Ruckus:
Lose elections from President to dog catcher for at least a decade.
Ruckus
@gene108:
Mnemosyne
@Yarrow:
John Kelly is not going to let them disrespect his side piece like that. He’s going to resign in protest if she goes — watch and see.

@Adam L Silverman:

@Adam L Silverman:
Also, when a person starts acting uncharacteristically in one area, it’s very common for them to start acting differently in other areas of their life as well. It’s uncommon for people to be able to successfully compartmentalize their lives. A change in one area can lead to a change in other areas as a ripple effect.

@Mnemosyne:We shall soon see. KN lied in a Senate testimony, put into practice her mentor’s brutal policy of separating children from their parents and it was still not enough for T. Who is going to be her replacement?

@trollhattan: They found 13 bodies between the time the headline of 39 was posted and when I clicked on the article.
They rolled out a mobile DNA lab to identify victims burned to bones and shards of bones.
