There are still some interesting races coming up, in Georgia, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The GA and LA races are SoS and Mississippi race is for Senate. There are more postcards to write at Postcard Patriots.

People seem excited about Mike Epsy’s chances in Mississippi. We blew through our initial fundraising goal so I raise it.

Goal Thermometer

The Georgia race for SoS is exciting because John Barrow is a great candidate, the race is very close, and Abrams was screwed out of the governorship by a shitty SoS who is now governor (Kemp). So that’s a good place to put your money too.

Thanks! I was hoping you’d put up a post for Espy.

I live in John Barrow’s old House district. I saw zero signs up. I’m actually surprised he did as well as he did.

I suspect he’ll get blown out like the last time Georgie had a run off in 2008. But it can’t hurt to try.

Without the gubernatorial race on the top of the ticket, methinks Barrow gets blown out. I know it’s important, but given how much of a PITA he was in Congress…I can’t say I’m sad if he loses.

As for Espy, I was reading something that said that folks saw internal polling showing substantial narrowing in the race. That’s the one we should be hitting hard…and if I were Doug Jones, I would be living in Mississippi until the election. Show the locals that a statewide elected Democrat can be reasonable.

@guachi: Sometimes I think it’s too easy for us Democrats here to go all pessimistic when it comes to any Democrat’s chances to win a run off. After all, we’ve had a long dry spell since about 2002. But, today I signed up to do postcards and I’ve already contributed.
It would be nice if Barrow actually ran an ad or two where he actually speaks out against voter suppression tactics, instead of making nice with the GOP, foolishly believing that some of them will vote for him. They won’t. Tribalism rules here.
IMO he’d have a better chance of winning if he riled the Democratic base up! I’m gonna do my best to do some GOTV effort. Someone should run an ad to tell citizens that their unfettered access to the voting booth hinges on the outcome of this runoff. There are no nice Republicans any longer.

@PsiFighter37: It will be interesting to see if Stacey gets behind this runoff as the first effort of her new “Fair Fight Georgia” initiative. Certainly as good a place to start (for her and for us) as any since occupying that office at least means we get to sit at the table with the big boys and can staunch the bleeding. Besides, Barrow did well because she did well.

Espy would be a great win; it’s good to read that he is competitive in MS.

One of the people I follow on Twitter – formerly one of his constituents – reminded me of the awfulness of John Barrow when he was a Blue Dog Democrat in Congress. But his responses in this debate are better than those from his main (Republican) opponent; if he gets in and does nothing other than make the voting system more secure, that will be a big improvement.
……I don’t know what polling is trustworthy for that GA SOS race, but the polls listed at Wikipedia (now at least a few weeks old) show him as being quite competitive. So hopefully Barrow wins, and if he does, hopefully he will be less of a d*ck than he was as a Congresscritter.

I was looking for a link to give to Espy but, come to think of it, Barrow’s race is at least as important and less likely to garner critical late support. He’s far from perfect, but he’s a helluva lot better than the (R) alternative – and I’m a realist. I’m in.

PostCards can make the difference in a contest that is all about turnout.

Have addresses for all 3 candidates. Including Gwen Collins-Greenup running for SoS in Louisiana. She ran her whole campaign on less that 2K.

So she could use a little cash infusion too. Her ActBlue link https://secure.actblue.com/donate/gwen-collins-greenup-campaign-fund–llc-1

I enjoy the lyrics as titles. You obviously listened to the songs I listened to and they meant something to you then and now.
And I got a postcard in the Roch cha cha area races.

@MazeDancer: Thanks for the pointer, and for all you’re continuing to do to drive turnout. It’s admirable and important!! Unfortunately, the timing is all wrong for me to write more postcards. :-(

    Donated to all three. Forward!!

    Cheers,
    Scott.

Memo to Georgians: vote for the dickhead phony – it’s important!

ETA: Chipped in to Barrow’s campaign here at BJ; have already given a pretty good chunk to Espy elsewhere.
