Some nutcase named Laura Loomer has donned a yellow star and handcuffed herself to Twitter’s New York headquarters because she was banned for accusing Congresswoman-Elect Ilhan Omar of supporting sharia law. Omar was recently elected to Keith Ellison’s old seat in Minnesota.

If you watch the Periscope livestream you’ll see that the police would probably be well within their rights to perform what we New Yorkers call a Mental Hygiene Arrest. But I’m not a professional and it is happy hour, so perhaps we can just enjoy the fact that she only chained herself to one of the two doors and Twitter employees are heading home while she stands there blabbing about Ilhan Omar being a jihadi.

Open thread.

    A biographer who detailed the relationship between Donald Trump and the Russian mob explained that Russia’s financial links to the United States extend far beyond the president.

    Craig Unger, author of House of Trump, House of Putin: The Untold Story of Donald Trump and the Russian Mafia, wrote in a Reddit AMA that one of the biggest surprise in his book is how Trump has been compromised “for decades.”

    “I believe most of the GOP leadership has been compromised by” Russian money, the author added. “The Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee run by Mitch McConnell got millions from [Soviet-born businessman] Leonard Blavatnik.”

    “As for the endgame,” Unger concluded, “I think it is already [beginning] to unravel.”

    There’s one run by a young woman who calls herself Mr Kate and her husband Joey. When I recently saw a pic of Laura Loomer, I thought she looked a lot like ‘Mr Kate’.

    Just a passing noting of bizarre similarity, for the miniscule amount it may be worth.

She’d take pictures of women on the street in hijabs and post whatever rightwing gibberish came into her “mind” at the moment along with them. She is well deserving of being banned and it cracks me up that she expected Twitter to press charges and they are just letting her stand there raving. @Baud: My mother loved Judge Judy too, and even more her bailiff, Petri Hawkins-Byrd, who has one of the best eyerolls in the business. I Googled him and Wikipedia says:

    To date, Byrd has been with the show for its entire run, making him the longest-running court show bailiff in history. His main role on the show consists of introducing cases (calling the parties forward, swearing the litigants, delivering the case number), delivering materials between the judge and the litigants, dismissing the parties, and escorting them out once the case is over. On several occasions, Byrd has had to play a larger role by controlling altercations or preventing potential altercations between the plaintiff(s) and the defendant(s). On occasions he has contacted litigants’ parole officers or performed drug tests. Despite his limited speaking role and commenting only when addressed by Sheindlin for the most part, Byrd is often seen supplying surly and lackadaisical nonverbal expressions or exclamations.[6] Byrd will tell Sheindlin where she is wrong and is almost always able to provide answers in areas that Sheindlin is unaware of, such as on mathematics, current fads, technology, computer related subjects, etc.

    @Schlemazel:

    She has made racist & threatening comments on Twitter. Why they chose to ban her & not all the others like her I don’t know but banned she is.

    She also apparently interrupted Jack Dorsey’s congressional testimony with accusations he was silencing conservatives, so it’s possible that Twitter was interested in finding an excuse.

    Part of the “Our Mighty Contribution” mural, located on Crenshaw Boulevard and Westmont Avenue, was defaced with white swastikas painted over the paintings of four Black Panther movement figures.

    The curator of the mural said it is the first time the mural has been defaced in its 18 years of existence. Its artist, Enkone, said he’s going to fix it immediately.

    1–1+ min video of the Crenshaw Blvd Mural by Wanda Weaver

    2–A 41 sec video of some of its parts, by Pure Heart Media Productions

    3–4+ min from 2014 for The Crenshaw Wall Restoration Project, by director and Black Panther historian Gregory Everett.
    “The mission of the Crenshaw Wall Restoration Project is to restore the current mural and use a special coating technique to protect it against the elements and vandalism. We also will dedicate the wall as a historical landmark, petition for a square dedication, and attach a plaque describing the mural and giving credit to its creators.”

    Mueller is structuring things so that his legal filiings tell the story and are often backed up by potential action by the states, so pardons will mean little.

    As to the specifics of the DeutscheBank and Chicago raids, along with the Cohen charge, we don’t know enough to draw conclusions by my standards. And we probably won’t hear about the two raids for a while. They could even be something else, but the timing certainly looks suspicious.

    @Cheryl Rofer:

    As to the specifics of the DeutscheBank and Chicago raids, along with the Cohen charge, we don’t know enough to draw conclusions by my standards.

    This sounds reasonable to me. It’s important to remember that Trump has surrounded himself with criminals. There’s always a chance they were under investigation already and this is completely unrelated to the Trump/Russia investigation. Even if the raids were triggered by material Cohen turned over to Mueller, it may be ancillary criminal activity that was referred to other prosecutors as not germane to the core topic of the investigation.

    @dm: But that’s the tell, you don’t need Adam to tell you that. They hit Deutsche Bank and Ed Burke, who’s really politically powerful in Chicago. This is the springing of the trap and they’re not messing around: it’s got a fair amount to do with why I think the Trump inner circle is on their way to Russia, never to return.

    Trump canceled all his meetings. He tried to cancel the meeting with Putin. I think that was him being the crazy narcissist and going ‘no no I got this! I will return and I’m going to tell them all what shit they are!’ since he is a total fool.

    Putin went NOPE! They will be making their rendezvous, no matter what Trump does or says en route.

    What with Deutsche Bank and Burke getting swarmed by feds, there is nothing for Trump or any of his people, here. It’s starkly obvious the time is now. I wonder if they’re still in the air. I wonder where McConnell is, what Paul Ryan is doing, what Pence is thinking. I’m betting Pence is another one of Putin’s guys. His job was to do nothing and look determined, waiting for… well, it looks like, waiting for today. Or indeed tomorrow.

    Interesting times. If I am wrong about this stuff, I’m very interested to learn how. But Trump trying and failing to cancel a meeting with Putin is in no way unexpected: the guy is totally unpredictable and it stands to reason he’ll even fuck up his own exit strategy, probably because he wants to go back and fight. He’d be doomed, but he’ll still want to go back and just try and narcissist his way out of it. Not happening, though.

    I don’t think Putin is going to hurt them: if he meant to see ’em burned he could have just let them all stay in the USA, because they’re obviously toast and everybody who’s privy to the truth knows it. I’m not, but all this is pretty obvious so I’m calling it and hoping it doesn’t unfold quite the way I’ve outlined, because I’m describing Putin’s best possible tactics that would do the most damage. Mueller hasn’t wanted to wreck the government by rendering most of it invalid and discredited. At this point, Putin’s best tactic is whatever would discredit the US government the most.

    Wife was in ICU with Septic shock and a constant battery of tests showed a potential cardiac event. When she was nearing departure/discharge from hospital they did a coronary test which showed no damage nor need for other work.

    They surmised it may have been a tiny bit of matter that broke off inside an artery to no real effect. I don’t know how likely that was, but she’s still kicking some years later and after trips to the Carrib islands, Spain and France, Italy and Baja California for whale petting and kissing.
