    SNL is live again tonight. I’m hoping there’s something that happened this week they could use in a sketch….
    It took them 40 odd years, but they finally run it live on the west coast so we can see it at 8:30 instead of (yawn) 11:30. It’s on again at the old time for those with a party life.

    Can remember the days when they did parts of the show twice – the second time live for the west coast. Different audience for the second time ’round. Acquaintance was an NBC page and could always manage to get us in to the second audience if we ever wanted to go. Plenty of what make up the reruns available now are full shows put together from parts of both tapings.

    Then after would repair to Hurley’s across the street to drink with both the production staff and any of the cast who showed up.

    For those unaware, the original Hurley’s had long stood as a tavern and restaurant and the owner at the time refused to sell, so some of Rockefeller Center/Radio City was built around his property.

I do have a guest post lined up from an actual defense attorney who handles Federal cases on the Miami Herald story on Epstein for you all.     This reminds me of a family story that happened when my niece was a toddler:

    My sister-in-law (her mom) was driving with her one day when my niece announced from the back seat that she didn’t want her mom to be her mommy anymore.* The conversation went like this:

    SIL: But if I’m not your mommy anymore, than Uncle E won’t be your uncle.
    Niece: That’s fine.
    SIL: And Grandma won’t be your grandma anymore.
    Niece: That’s fine.
    SIL: And Aunt C won’t be your aunt anymore.
    Niece: That’s fine,

    * This conversation demonstrates that my niece was wise beyond her years at a very young age, because her mother is fucking nuts. She either has Borderline Personality Disorder or mild bipolar disorder, but she refuses to do anything about either diagnosis.

    Brett Favre ‘sickened’ as white supremacists dupe him into using anti-Semitic language in video

    In a statement posted to his Facebook page on Saturday, the ex-Green Bay Packers QB wrote that he had received a request through the “Cameo” app to record what he believed was a message of support for a veterans group. According to Cameo’s terms of service, users can buy personalized video messages from celebrities and athletes. Favre, who had to approve the message, receives $500 for each recording.

    However, as Buzzfeed reported Friday, the request to Favre was not from a veterans group but from white supremacist YouTubers who provided coded language for the video that Favre recorded:

    “Brett Favre here with a shout-out to the Handsome Truth and the GDL boys,” he said. “You guys are patriots in my eyes. So keep waking them up and don’t let the small get you down. Keep fighting, too, and don’t ever forget the USS Liberty and the men and women who died on that day. God bless and take care.”

    Favre said in his statement Saturday that a few days after making the video, “I was distressed to learn that the request came from an anti-Semitic group that reposted my video with comments implying that I endorsed their mission. Nothing could be further from the truth.”

    He added that he was “sickened” by what these groups represent, and said he is donating his $500 payment to charities that fight hate and bigotry.

    The person responsible for the request was banned from Cameo. Cameo has claimed it has put in place filters to ensure it never happens again, and has request YouTube take down videos of it.

    Favre could have done a better job of research too before approving the message and doing it.

    When my son was about two, he would count to ten, but he refused to count any higher no matter how much I tried to count with him. He saw no use for it. Then we got cable TV on which the cartoon channel was 34. He learned to count to 34 the next day.

    Until I looked up the background of the USS Liberty incident, I never knew about any of this stuff, even though I’d heard of the Liberty. There are people who truly believe Isreal deliberately attacked the USS Liberty. Even former Secretary of State Dean Rusk believed it. So did some of the survivors of the attack. I can’t help but wonder if some of these people are anti-Semitic.

    But Dad should get some remedial lessons in how to teach. His performance was appalling.

    He never once tried a different approach to the problem. Instead, he treated it as an affront to his authority, and tried to bully her into conforming.

    Then the women filming — mom, maybe? — tries a different approach: ask her to count to four. And IMMEDIATELY the child knows where 4 is located in the number line.

    He never listened. Never asked her questions. Never tried to figure out what she was trying to say.

    Why was she perseverating on “one two three: five!” to begin with? He never asked.

    My guess? She was not counting to five at all. She was echoing a start-off count to three, followed by a command.

    “One two three: GO!”
    “One two three: RUN!”
    “One two three: FLY!”

    That’s what she had heard, and was accurately repeating. And she kept correcting her dad, because he kept getting it wrong. (You don’t say “one two three, FOUR! run” — that’s not how you start a race.)

    Once her mom created a new context by asking her to count to four, then she had no problem doing that.

    The dad is a moron, a pedantic bully who cannot and will not listen to other voices, other approaches.

    I hope he learns how to teach, and she learns how to find people who listen..Mom will help, anyhow.

    I don’t think the President has the legal authority to end a treaty. Treaties get ratified by Congress and become US law. That is not the way other countries do treaties but we wrote our constitution that way. It’s also why Congress was able to keep us out of Gore’s global warming treaty and Obama needed Congress to go along his trade agreements. Trump doesn’t know what he is talking about. He imagines he has authority over everything, but he doesn’t.
